I know February is a little tardy for an end-of-year wrap up but I had a good year on skates and had the clips to show for it so figured I’d follow up my 2021 Showreel with this cell-animated nod to a cult classic.

I was 5 years old in 1986 when The Transformers: The Movie was released and my generation endured the shock of watching Optimus Prime die on the silver screen. The film was a major part of my childhood and the soundtrack and score is absolutely banging and I’ve long wanted to pair Lion’s hair-metal rendition of the cartoon theme with skating.

My thanks as always to the many who patiently pointed a camera at the action, and those who went to the effort of transferring me files and whatnot. It was funny to have so many angles of the ender at the 2022 Victorian Rolling Open. That trick kept me awake in the nights leading up the the event - cheers to all that stood around at the end of the evening to let me handle it. A huge shoutout goes to Bayside for sponsoring me for over a decade and supporting the scene in now it’s 20th year, and to a new sponsor of mine, Illusive Brand, who’s killer wheels I spent the last twelve months testing and are now available in the best packaging since the Senate Brand in the 1990’s.

DUOS is a video from Belgorod (Russia) shot by two riders: Ivan Kovtun & Daniel Goncharov. Daniel is producing stuffed toys for Coyote Artifact (IG | VK), a creative workshop. For his latest creation, he used a custom made blading tee as starting material (the one you can see in this skating video) and ended with a blading cat rocking a sweet pair of skates.

Another perfect weekend with the boys. The spots this weekend looked really fun. I had to cut out a couple of the spots because I’m working on “full length” sections for a couple of my friends, but even skipping those spots, there was still so much leftover.

As I’m making these edits, I realized that my crew laughs a lot. In the moment I know that I’m thinking “this is fun,” but having to sit here and rewatch a majority of the day… I realize how important this seemingly meaningless activity is to me. The amount of laughter/ jokes/ hilarious banter that I’m having to cut out of these edits is overwhelming. Most of it would be hard to understand.

This project (so far) is fun. If not to just give me something to do, but to give me a newfound respect for the weekly ritual of forcing myself to wake up and go film the boys dork around on the streets. It’s late and I’m ranting.. I’ll probably rewrite whatever is above this. I dunno. Hope yall are having a good day. - Cody Sanders.

First day back on blades in over a decade but then same feeling I had 30 years ago! With the re-release of one of my favorite skates the S3 I had the urge to try to skate again although knowing that I would never be able to live up to my own expectations. I would be lying if I said I was shocked about the outcome! It’s crazy how much passion can drive someone to achieve the things they want!

Believe in yourself stay true. Doing so I truly believe you can achieve anything! Thank you to all who have supported me throughout my career it is because of you I have lived the life I have lived and I am forever grateful.
