Skater XL (skaterxl.com) is a $40 skateboarding game (Steam Page) ; recently a mod called Blader XL (mod page) surfaced and allows you to play the game as a rollerblader. The mod is pretty popular on Youtube.
How to install the mod
Download the Blader XL mod ; you’ll also need two other files: XLGearModifier & XXLMod ; the XXLMod is not available on the regular page at the moment, you can get it via their discord.
XLGearMod is used to port the assets (skates) into the game and DawgVinci’s XXLMod3 has presets available to set your feet up in very specific circumstances. Included in this download are Assets and textures for skates, presets for various grinds/grabs, and a stats preset for “ideal” rollerblading.
- The Stance Presets will go into: Documents > SkaterXL > XXLMod3 > StancePresets
- The Stats Presets will go into: Documents > SkaterXL > XXLMod3 > StatsPresets
- The Assets will go into: Documents > SkaterXL > XLGearModifier > Assets
- Textures go into gear folder.
If you don’t know where your game is located, and you installed it via Steam, check this page.
The tricks
Here is a list of the available tricks (on the left) ; you can customize the tricks, each trick is defined by the position/ rotation of left and right feet, as well as the left and right toes rotations.

Rock Paper Shotgun: Unknown Pleasures - Steam’s latest diamonds in the rough - Link
Welcome back to Unknown Pleasures, our weekly deep dive into the deep, dark waters of Steam new releases. These are the games that we most liked from the past seven days (with the exclusion of those we’ve already wittered about in detail).
On a Roll: A latter-day Tony Hawk Pro Skater but with rollerskates, basically. Well put together, and straddles a line between comforting late 90s/early noughties familiarity and the inherent physicsy differences of boards and skates, though the Max Payneish fixed-expression photo-faces are a little creepy. There’s some real gnarly maps, such as the plummeting drops of an abandoned water park, and plenty of scope to customise both your skater and their skatepark. Rad! It’s Early Access, so hopefully later builds will introduce a much needed pop-rock-rap soundtrack too.
