Razors Game Theory - Premiere
I want to give you an update about our new video project: Ever since tour riders moved into the Razors house, here in California, they are literally filming and shooting photos every day. I’m blown away daily by the team’s individual abilities and creativity.
Brian Aragon is without a doubt the most professional blader in the game, producing clip after clip, a friggin machine that continually gets the rest of the crew pumped and ready to blade… So smooth, so powerful.
Don Bambrick I have no idea how Don comes up with his tricks. His ability to spot and do the unthinkable on some of the gnarliest and coolest terrain will make his section super entertaining even to the outside eye.
Dre Powell has seriously stepped up his game, so stoked on every clip, landing most of them at first try, always laced with what I can only describe as chaotic finesse.
On the road to recovery, Mike Murda Johnson’s been holding it down and putting together a good number of hammers.
Stefan Horngacher’s footage is off the charts, his best skating to date, and we are getting tons of amazing footage from our ams and international riders. Everybody is on fire and we still have another 5-6 weeks of intense filming ahead. The video is promising to be of epic proportions.
Speaking of epic… the premiere will take place on Friday 13th in Encinitas, CA. We rented out La Paloma Theatre which is surrounded by inexpensive bars and perfectly situated for the appropriate before and after party. The next day (Aug 14th) is the SDSF Open a 4-star WRS contest with one of the biggest prize purses of the year. - Andy Wegener.

When most people think of Vegas they think of the Strip, neon lights, gambling… the asshole of America. Is this an accurate picture? As a local, how do you relate to this picture?
The area that consists of Las Vegas is huge (the strip being a small fraction of the city), and this isn’t counting the surrounding cities of Henderson and Boulder City. It’s like a 50 square mile island surrounded by desert instead of water. There are a considerable amount of skate spots that have been found and even more uncharted territory to be conquered. So physically, I would say no…
As far as the caliber of people, I would say that “asshole of America” is a fairly accurate description. Fortunately, the niche of people that I am blessed to be involved with on a regular basis is very down to earth. Outside of that, I find it difficult to meet people here that don’t trip my douche bag alarm some way or another. My particular favorite is the mutated-westcoastern-guido breed that seems to be ever prevalent in these parts.
Being a local in the city that never sleeps has its advantages though. Since it’s a 24 hour city, we have no last call. Most bars don’t even close. It rarely rains, hence it being a desert. If out-of-towners visit, we have a wide variety of goofy attractions to offer (i.e. Bellagio water show, Helicopter rides to the Grand Canyon, Rooms with wall to wall trampolines.) It’s kind of bittersweet; I love and hate this place. […]

Up: Brian Shima and Mark Korte, back in the days. Below: quoting a mail from Mark Korte:
Hello Everyone!
I would like to inform you of some changes in my own personal life.
After getting back into the game, I have seen that I am basically too old for this stuff lol!
Having a family and a commitment to the US Military as well as my private life has shown me that I am going to have to go into a different direction than I have been, and Powerslide and myself will part ways, but as always with a good feeling, and good times.
I want to thank all of you for dealing with me, and I want to thank all of you for helping me put alot of programs together, and doing your best to make things better.
This will be my last week at Powerslide and I will be moving on and fulfilling a commitment I have to the US Army, and moving into a different lifecycle.
I would like to thank both Matthias Knoll and Stefan Gohl as well as everyone here at Powerslide who believed in me and thought it would be good for me to get back in the thick of it, even if it was for a short time… I will remember it well. - Mark Korte.

An Oldschool skate video by T-Bone Films ; guest editor: Bryan Bell (RIP).

Bryan Bell’s late 90s video “My Daily Routine” is a certified classic. It’s the perfect place to kick off a column about blade treasures from the past.
“My Daily Routine” looks exactly like what it is, a bunch of friends going out and fucking around with a video camera. It makes skating look like a lot of fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is full of shots filmed with poorly-sized fisheye lenses, lines on small ledges and benches, 360s off of curbs, graffiti, break dancing, booty shakin, boozing, fights, enough mushroom blading to make those guys from Vancouver proud, homemade bombs, and plenty of other shit to make your mom upset that she bought it for you.
All of that B-roll helped keep the video interesting and added to the flow of it. It was always a favorite of my friends that didn’t blade… […] Full Article on Oneblademag.com.
