“Roller Freestyle VERT is one of the most exciting and daring extreme sports. In November 2022, it was featured in the WORLD SKATE GAMES for the first time. One Japanese skater, Yasutoko Takeshi, who has dominated the sport for the past two decades, has his sights set on becoming the first ever champion. He is also known as the creator of the Double Viking Flip, a trick so difficult that no other skater has been able to pull it off. As Takeshi trains for the WORLD SKATE GAMES, he is determined to make the trick for the first time in 15 years”.
Also featuring: Takashima Yoshiki & Shimizu Haruhi.
Some bloopers, funny stuff and leftovers from the Vert section with Roel Fritz and his friends. This was filmed in 1 week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and on Saturday it got destroyed. Bas his AO mizou was the last trick ever done on that vert. - Cavin Brinkman.
Rough Google Translation: Nils Jansons from Latvia, Robert Spassov from Israel. If I hadn’t done inline skating, I wouldn’t have met, and I thought it was a miracle to think that all three of us were skating together because they were all facing skating. I’m glad I’ve been doing inline skating! - Takeshi Yasutoko.

Marco de Santi came to the US with $100 in his pocket and he spoke no English. It was both comical, inspiring and sad… Until he became a World Champion. And when skating died, Marco went to the Cirque du Soleil.

Marco de Santi has the most interesting journey of any athlete I’ve had on the podcast. Born in a less than desirable situation in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Marco did what every kid does; he played soccer until he found skateparks. Marco quit team sports and headed to the USA at age 15, with literally nothing, to make his pro skating dream happen. While Marco eventually became a world Champion, inline was dropped by X-Games, and the organizing body of his sport didn’t include Marco in future events. So the first skater to land a triple was forced out of competition and into a life of LOVE, which he performs in every night with the Cirque de Soleil. It doesn’t get more rags to riches than this one.
TIMECODES: 03:30: Issues around his backyard vert ramp, growing up in Sao Paolo, and family life 10:00: Soccer, finding skating, stereotypes, roller rink skateparks, how does he pay to get to the US, and how does he stay 21:00: Not speaking English, meeting me, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and problems with judging 32:00: Mountain Dew, other sponsors, never wearing pads, and spending time at Woodward 34:00: The Yasutoko, the triple, and what’s cool about X Games 39:30: Rollerblade: Ski season may be over, but that feeling lasts all year with inline skating 41:30: Nerves, Silver at X Games, losing X Games, and then getting screwed by the ASA 47:00: Winning World Championships, all things Cirque de Soleil’s LOVE (skating, money, injury, perks), building his Vegas empire, and day trading 54:00: Inappropriate Questions with Hardcore Brazil, Carlos Pianowski.
Welcome at 14×41 a well flavoured and tasty non-profit collaboration of Sven Boekhorst and Niels Groenendijk. These two chefs serve a 3 course video meal so the next generation of inline skaters can start cooking their stuff.
Sven started skating at the age of 14 years, and today at an age of 41 he still manages to spice things up when he drops the heat. This meal is free for everyone to enjoy and is well balanced, like his steady grinds on the streets. Whatever your preferred flavour is: He has got you covered in this one: Vert, Street and Park.
VERT EDIT: Amsterdam has a brand new halfpipe and Sven Boekhorst blessed it with his signature style tricks. Technical liptricks and amazing control in the air. The taste of it is well balanced and totally up to date. Hit play and get started.
STREET EDIT: In a search for great spots across the Netherlands Sven Boekhorst and Niels Groenendijk found some heavy hitter street spots. Niels managed to capture a full part of banging tricks and process these into main dish that exceeds all expectations.
PARK EDIT: As an all-round skater Sven makes it all taste good. This part is probably the dish where he truly shows his skills. As a master chef in control, technicality and hammers a park section of Sven Boekhorst is always finger licking good! Check him at skatepark Area 51 where all the proceeds of the donations will go to stimulate the future of street and park inline skaters.
Like the taste of it? Feel free to leave a tip and donate at the 14x41.com website. All proceeds will go to free skate lessons for the youth in Area 51 skatepark. For these lessons, we will work with a new skate instructor. Besides the donations made by you, the chefs of 14X41 will additionally donate 41 of Rollerblade® inline skates to area 51 skatepark for kids to use for free. Will you help us inspire and let the next generation get a taste of what we like? Dig in, donate and enjoy your meal!
