Pom West, sounds like your just another jaded faggot dieing of jealousy. I found the video very entertaining, and fresh. You need to stop taking rollerblading so seriously. Arn’t you a grown man? Your acting like a bitchy jealous high school girl. Grow up.

Opinions are bitchy and jealous in the rollerblading industry haha. Rollerblading needs to grow up and stop just accepting shit as cool because it involves rollerblades. It’s like that post where an actor was wearing the Xsjado Farmer boot and it ended up on Rollernews, who gives a fuck. Just because it has rollerblades in it doesn’t mean we should give a shit. There’s no reason to produce quality work in this industry because garbage is widely acceptable to almost everyone in this industry. This doesn’t just pertain to our media, but can easily be seen in the sheer number of shitty rollerblading t-shirt companies that have existed over the years. Silk screening a poorly designed logo onto a t-shirt is all it takes to be a supporter of this industry, when in fact the sheer act of doing that takes more from the industry than it gives back visive funds going to companies with no long term business plan over established companies of those who’ve put their all into it and who are trying to make a living from it. That’s what we need, people who not only have the talent to make what they’re doing look good (whether that be media/clothing/hard goods), but who also have the drive to persist in a near dying industry (by that I mean the industry side of things not the community/sport side of things) in order to get this sport to a point where others can make a living from it. I have a lot of pro friends and it breaks my heart knowing that for all their talent, they will never get anything from this sport more than bad knees and other long term injuries. This video is just another example of a step in the wrong direction for us.

And you know, honestly, I wouldn’t give a shit if it was posted for what it is. Ie. a tape of B-Roll. But it was posted as a video, a free online video with the intention of it being new and unique and pushing boundaries, changing the way we look at our sport. When in reality it’s just some hipster bullshit from a guy who wishes he was Bob Dylan.

To be fair Pom, it does not say that it is changing the way we look at our sport and pushing boundaries as you suggest (though it is clearly pushing boundaries for you). In fact nowhere in the description does it even say it’s a rollerblading video, doesn’t even mention rollerblading. It says “behind the scenes look at … the FILMING.”

It says it’s a full length video but not explicitly a rollerblading video. Does this mean it shouldn’t be on rollernews, it should be on some artsy “hipster” blog? No. It is a look at a part of our sport, not the sport itself.

Do you really sit down and watch, for example, “The making of Apocalypse Now” and then complain like bitch when you realize it has nothing to do the story of “Apocalypse Now”? Then I would imagine you would proceed to complain about how it has nothing to do with the movie and insist it should be segmented off entirely from the movie. Perhaps it belongs a hipster blog somewhere, but definitely not to be integrated with the final project of “Apocalypse now” as they are clearly entirely separate and have nothing in common with one another.

Agree with Pom West completely, rollerbladers get so butt hurt over criticism. Grow up. Not everyone has to like everything, I personally think this video is try hard trash. But I like a lot of the non mainstream videos like the stuff from Sol Crew.
