Rolling Revival (Vidcast 52): GOSTCast

rolling revival

Arlo Eisenberg and Jess Dyrenforth are accomplished icon’s of our noble subculture. In their daily lives they may be no more recognized than you or I, but though their passion for art, design and ultimately sport, they conjure an established foundation of wisdom and culture in skating.

Their pioneering ways have set the bar in Street Skating, Logo Design, Photography, Marketing and Fashion. They are single handedly responsible for the portrayal and image of rolling from 1993-2000. Their collective influence continues today, albeit behind the scenes, as respective owners and marketers of street culture.

For this, Vidcast 52 we traveled to Santa Ana CA, home of Arlo and Jess to speak with them about Fifty-50, England Clothing and the new kid on the block, GOST Brand. The impromptu interview style didn’t seem to catch either of them off guard, ever professional, in every way.

Thanks to Quinn for chopping up this huge video and don’t forget to subscribe to us on iTunes for plenty more content to come!

Check the dedicated post on rollingrevival.com to download the video.
Thanks Tim.

quoting Arlo Eisenberg:

My good friends over at Woodward West, Richie and Pam Velasquez, host an inline competition series every year called the AIL. Competitions are held throughout the season all over the country and then it all culminates in a giant Championship event hosted every year at the sprawling Woodward West skatepark facility in Tehachapi, California that draws the best Pro and Amateur rollerbladers from all over the world.

This year (this week actually!) Pam and Richie asked if I would create a graphic for AIL that they could use to help support the series and I gladly accepted. I stayed up ALL night last night and sent off the artwork pictured here this morning. They are trying to have the shirts printed by this weekend for the first event of the new season. Talk about quick turn around!

Good news as quoted from Jess Dyrenforth:

As you may have heard already, Arlo Eisenberg, formerly of Franco Shade Clothing, has started a new label called GOST. I am happy to announce that I will be joining Arlo in this new venture.

Arlo and I have been friends for over fifteen years. In that time we have worked together on many projects. We toured the world together with the Roces Team and helped to develop the first aggressive inline skate, The Majestic 12. We collaborated for many years, along with Angie Walton, on Daily Bread Magazine. And finally, in 2004 Arlo and I became neighbors in Downtown Santa Ana in The Artists Village. Nothing could be more natural than Arlo and I embarking on this new chapter together.

I cannot tell you how excited I am about my new future with GOST. With Arlo’s creative direction and my fifteen years of experience handling production GOST promises to be a standout brand that will hit the ground running!

I have attached a sneak preview of some of the GOST Spring 09 line just to give you an idea of the direction.

I hope you will join me in GOING GOST in 2009!!

Cheers,
Jess.

Franco Shade / Arlo Eisenberg new brand “GOST”

Announcing Big Changes for 2009!

We have all witnessed the evolution of Franco Shade and the Ghost and Knives logo over the past several years. Both the Franco Shade name and the logo have generated a lot of interest in this time. Franco Shade and the Ghost have both become a part of the fabric of streetwear culture in Orange County and beyond.

Now in 2009 Franco Shade and the iconic Ghost and Knives logo will split into two separate companies. Franco Shade will continue on with Joe Navran at the helm and the whole Franco Team intact: Tui, Thomas, Jerm and crew.

Arlo Eisenberg will direct a brand new spin-off company featuring the Ghost and Knives logo, appropriately named GOST (pronounced “ghost”).

Franco Shade will begin a new chapter with its new Hammer icon and will continue to provide the streetwear community with its signature brand of stylish, cutting edge clothing and its often offbeat sense of humor.

GOST will continue the legacy of the Ghost and Knives logo and will carry on the artwork and unique vision of creative director Arlo Eisenberg.

2009 promises to be an exciting year for fans of Franco Shade with a lot more to love! Follow the new direction of both brands at francoshade.com and gostbrand.com.

Happy New Year!

Joe and Arlo
