Salomon Widebody Customisation

by Filip “Casper” Lederleitner
Although the widebody provides amazing soul space, ideal for stable switch-ups and cess slides, every single roller notices weak ability to press your foot to the right position for royale and torque tricks. That’s why I came up with this customization.

I’ve been trying to create the best possible setup for my Salomon Chaz Sands skates.
I decided to choose the amazing Kizer Horngacher frame, because of it’s outstanding groove and wheel constellation, which allows you to roll flat or antirocker.

This is where i stumbled upon a problem. Although the widebody provides amazing soul space, ideal for stable switch-ups and cess slides, every single roller notices weak ability to press your foot to the right position for royale and torque tricks.

That’s why I came up with this customization. It provides superb soul space, with great possibility to do royale and torque tricks to the fullest. Especially, when you like to bend on the trick, just to enjoy that shit in style.

How to cut your Widebodies, Hints.
I polished the edges of the cuts, because they were quite sharp. This would eventually prevent the smoothness when switching-up from torques to truespins or backslides to alley-oop.
One last hint - be sure to get yourself a reliable cutting tool. You don’t have to worry about cracking, the material is pretty solid.

Or you could just cut out a bigger groove for royales in the widebody… Or get night souls and Razors backslideplates…

wouldn’t that lack of material fuck up your skates? I absolutely hate skates with you backslide area. I damn near do nothing but royales/unity/h block tricks minus the occaisional topacid, but does that mean that I have to buy new skates once I grind through my boot? It’s cheaper to get backslide plates and replace them instead.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I know that people may have done this customisation before, but there probably still are those who like this. I previously tried to make a solid groove into the widebody, but it just wasn’t enough. Especially with the new Kizer frames. If you remember the days when widebodies didn’t exist on Salomon skates, I am pretty sure that the boot could put up with a lot of damage. I don’t think there is too much to worry about. Just look at Don Bambrick or Rob Thompson, they didn’t use widebodies at all. :)
I am glad to be able to help some of you guys, who had the same problem just as me.
-Peace out!
