well, I’m just gonna go out and be that guy…..Don’t get me wrong i’m all for the mixed contests and everything but that park/set up is a joke. It’s great and all that we have a contest that collaborates with the other “extreme” sports but c’mone. I have never seen so many redundant flips, spins and whatchamacallits in my life. Show stoppers much?? I think so. there were some sick ass tricks like Romans huge disaster true sav, Lomaxs 540 channel gap, and maybe a few others but i wanted stop the video. I pushed through hoping to see something sick but disappointed.
But still props to the decent shit that went down, as I’m sure other shit went down that didn’t make this edit but just from what I saw in this it’s just disappointing.
peace.

Scherf, everyone that skated that park agreed that it was amazing! Yes it is designed by BMXers, but still enabled rollerbladers to showcase some progressive tricks… It’s not all about the grinds. Did you see the size of the crowd!? NASS is definately a platform that we want to to keep so rollerblading can remain in the public limelight

that park doesn’t look very fun

Spary, I do agree that it is something to keep around. And I was a bit skeptical about this, mainly because the ‘spin’ stuff isn’t really my type of skating. Kudos to people who can do it, but when every skater does that same spin over the same box or different it just doesn’t appeal to me.
That’s good that the crowd is huge and they get a kick out of it since it’s stuff they normally don’t see. But again, not my type of stuff.
We do need more stuff like this around in the states. Not enough public exposure here in the states.
So props to the ones who got rollerblading in the NASS circuit.

I’ve started watching this edit, but every spins and tricks looked the same to me and it was so boring that i had to cut it at the 5th minut of it…
Anyway,…
Bravo ROMAN pour ta 1ère place!

this shit should be called oldnews.com

Ha I cut my losses after 5 minutes too, the park doesn’t lend itself to a good edit really…
As whoever it was said though, it’s great that the public can see this “stunt” kind of blading that they can understand and be like “wooow backflip” and go away thinking blading is awesome instead of seeing like an illusion switch full cab mistrial whatever and just…not getting it.
I just don’t wanna watch another 5 minutes of being being enlightened, you know? It was probably a good edit, I dunno.

These Europeans guys sure know how to do gaps, flips and spins! Some pretty big tricks in there. Disaster true savanna and 540 channel gap were ridiculous! Great to see such a big crowd.

I liked the skating. But agree with scherf. I like spinning and I like grinding but a well rounded comp should have all of it. I do think the edit was a bit dragged out. I think he just should have shown the sickest 900s 540s and 720 transfers instead of showing the same tricks by 20 different people. I think it would have been more exciting. Unreal transfers though. They got waaaay sick at that comp. Would have been nice to be there.

it’s all part of what we do weather it’s skateing park or street! this is a sick comp with no bullshit! just mates having fun something you yank’s would’nt no anything about! cause all you’s just talk shit on each other! all the time! did you see a good rail in there? no cause bmxer built the park so people just got what they could! and put on a show! blading had the biggest crowd’s the hole weekend! and most the people watching are blader’s or from another sport! so just go’s to show! music rave party skate mates VIP area! free drink! NASS win’s bring on nass 2010! bigger and better! and maybe we can have a rail this year just for you!

ok first off, I watched it because I wanted to watch it. I wasn’t hating on all of it. You referring to us “yanks” not knowing anything, is completely irrelevant, I know plenty of “yank” skaters that can do all that same stuff. Yes, sadly us “yanks” do talk shit on eachother but oh well. It’s the same in almost every other sport.
I didn’t make that comment with negative intent, it was based on my opinion and view of what I saw that happened.
I have skated in multi-sport contests and some times you do have to make the best of it. I’m sure that a lot of tricks/stunts weren’t filmed and/or put in the edit, but all you have done is turned this around and hated on me for my opinion.

I agree with doing what they can with the set up they had. I was just saying I like a more well rounded comp. The competition scene in the U.S. is nothing compared to what it used to be. Wish it was. We have just as awesome competitions its just that nobody goes to them accept skaters. Which I place some of that blame on skateboarders. They have made it a trend to hate on bladers not just with the skateboarders but the people surrounding them as well. The majority of kids that want to blade instantly get the idea shut down by their skateboarder friends. And they are afraid to go against the crowd so they buy a piece of wood and become gays on trays. So there for, we dont have the local support for our comps, but at least the people that are at them really love it and are dedicated to it. So I dont mind being a yank so much if it means I am in a place that rolls strong even with all of the hate and lack of support from spectators. The support would be nice though. Watching that comp made me wish we werent in the shadows of other sports here in the U.S. And I agree with the comment about people here hating on each other. Our sport is too small for us to be devided by shit talkers. But oh well. Nice tricks at the comp. Kinda made me dizzy with all of the spins. Crazy shit!!!!!!
Oh yeah. See you at TNS Scherf!!lololol
