all the talking in between the clips was just not required…

i watched it on mute anyway and skipped forward to the rolling which i think sells the skate pretty well indeed…

much more than your face mr loco skates man.

  2. killgore Says:

I am personally riding these right now and they are amazing. i like them alot. they have the same feel as the old K2′s pretty much with the new updated UFS/soul/royale area.. they are good for farfs/torks and still royale/backslide.

I cut the buttons off the laces.. facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4270160&id=681300971#!/photo.php?pid=4373765&id=681300971&fbid=274635570971

  4. xsjado man Says:

they must be good. as jake is the owner of loco so he could skate any skates he wants to and choses these. thats saying something. so why not carbons anymore jake? are these just that good. keep up the good work man.

  5. not so new Says:

good job with the colors and the souplate. are these UFS? not sure if that frame is changanle, the boot and everything else is the same as the previous k2′s. like the 125cc or the Naturals. i have the really older ones that are black and white ones that came with a Velcro strap instead of a buckle, and same frame/sole as natruals, those were awsome skates for their time with razor flats =] nice to see k2 back in the game

  6. John Says:

They’re UFS. They look pretty good too, I like what he did with the black.

  7. Gary Harpington Says:

This guy is a absolute CUNT! i saw him once outside a gay bar in brighton.

  8. Dale Says:

Gary you can’t call someone a cunt and then admit to just ‘seeing them once’ lol

  9. slim slice Says:

that guy is such a penis….

  10. Right Says:

That was probably the most useful skate review ive seen on rollernews to date.

To Gary: I don’t know Jake personally but he seems like a top bloke from his service at loco skates, dedication to uk rollerblading and his personality on this clip, whereas what came out of your mouth makes you seem like the absolute cunt.

  11. joeman95 Says:

damn, FLUID skating! And i kinda wanna try this skate out :) Nice review.

  12. colel Says:

I love how Gary called this guy a cunt and then admitted to also being outside the same gay bar where he saw him.

I also love that from all the people ive seen and heard from who’ve skated them say they love em. And also when these skates came out last august EVERYONE hated on them.

They shouldve come out with a black varsity skate with red features…… but i guess i could dye these black

    i’m definitely getting a pair.

  13. Big Slick Says:

Those skates look quality! Thanks for the review and clips! Good skating!

  14. Jubby Says:

haha landed gentry (or should i say gentwy) accent is funny shit. good review but.

  15. jimmy Says:

k2s are comfy that’s for sure, always had great flex, they must be releasing another colour scheme because that’s what is keeping me from getting them. that is after all what the rollerblading game is about these days: same product different colour. too bad about the buckle, funny k2 still decided not to fix the shit buckle, that’s been a problem since the fatty orig.

but sooo comfy I’d like to try them.

  16. guy crawford Says:

Hey Jake, good review and sharp on skates as ever. I guess k2 will always be your spiritual home.

  17. lol Says:

Gary, what were YOU doing outside a Gay Bar in brighton?

  18. anthony Says:

K2 is legendary regardless of it being pretty corprate, undeniably in the past they have helped the rollerblading industry and the fact that just started to make new skates is awsome, in all honesty i wouldnt skate the varsitys just because the color and i hope the next skate they put out will be a better color pick lol, oh quick question does anyone know it K2 sponsors a team anymore?

  19. Jack-rolling-a-mindgameinfocus Says:

as far as i know at the moment k2 isnt sponsering any riders, until we rollers create a budget they can work with to pay 1 or 2 riders.

i made a mini review for these since they have them in stock at intersport here in sweden, and yes they are really comfy, flex is adequet and the soul system looks stable and awsum to skate, im pretty pickey with detail of a skate or anything as you might see when reading.

i may opt to wait for a darker colourway ;P but i met jake for the first time and he seemed like a chill bloke and yea the mods he did looked pretty aight.

im a past k2 fatty pro roller so ill be sure to consider a pair in the future. ;)

  20. A-Styles Says:

Hmm…I’m Also wondering why Gary Harpington Do Outside a Gay Bar in Brighton? Hmm…so curious…

  21. Steve0 Says:

yeah gary is a little bitch that was caught lurking outside that gay bar

  22. Si Says:

Im not convinced, jake was on k2 for god knows how many years. Of course he will plug them.

  23. pns Says:

If K2 Produce them in King 55′s colors I would definitely Buy them!!

  24. Thomas cheung Says:

gay bars are great places to pick up chicks gary, even if the toilets do smell like shit.

  25. Azur Says:

Hey Jake, good hardware review, I like how you spot details that most grommets wont get, and I love the practical side of it too, but despite your nice review Im against what K2 have done in the past and their way of being so out of touch with our community.
Having a soul plate on top of another is needless weight and K2 cuffs are the same design that used to snap in a month.

  26. fact Says:

he was only on k2 as he was sucking a lot of dick. he skates like someones put broomstick up his ass

  27. billy doyle Says:

if thats what skating with a broom stick up your arse is like i might have to try it because that 720 was ill. good review.

  28. shiva Says:

yeah nice review… just ignore the flaming kidz

  29. jimmy Says:

he was on K2? eff this review then. anyone else have a pair of these ugly things?

  30. 11615 Says:

heard louie z is the team manager

  31. dub Says:

The K2 skates look good I honestly thought that they looked great when I first saw them. I’m sure youve been spotted in front of a gay bar before Gary.

  32. smoker Says:

that was a pretty good review, nice skating as well!

it would be interesting to know if there are spare parts for sale already, cause i remeber i broke a lot of cuffs back in the days

  33. smoker Says:

    * remember

Your comment was a bit too short. Please go back and try again.

  34. Julian Says:

anyone got a review with more bad points?

hmm. must say, these do look pretty good.
these are definetly a candidate for my next pair.

  35. DANIELSON Says:

I wish k2 would do more to help our industry, cus i actually like their skates. They are comfortable, have perfect flex, are very responsive, and they are the lightest skates I have ever had on my feet. (Seriously! They are so light, that it is almost a bad thing. When you feel a skate’s weight on your feet, you feel that they are sturdy enough for high-impact landings, and k2′s feel like sneakers) But the facts are the facts…. K2 hasnt givin freestyle/aggressive skates any real attention since the late 90′s. You cant trust a company that only puts out new skates every 5yrs’ and doesnt even add any innovations in the 5yr releases. Not to mention, that a company like k2 kepps itys hands in all markets (skiing, snowboards, wakeboards, and whatever else), so you know that they are not paying enough attention to individual sports, or products…. They just wanna make whatever money they can from being the WAL_MART of “action sports’ Intitially, k2 came out with a great boot that did alot for our sport…. but they just keep selling the same thing ( with extra plastic bolted underneathe yhe old soul). And they only sell that crap when they feel like it. Half the time, you cant even find aggressive K2 skates (even if you are ignorant enough to stay loyal to them). So unfortunately, i have to rank K2 even lower than Rollerblade/TRS. Atleast TRS keeps coming out with new shit to buy, even if it is played-out, uninspired products, Damn shame, love the feel of their boots, but i would have to kick my own ass if i spent money on those traitors

  36. great Says:

the comment above me cant be any more correct

  37. Erick Garcia Says:

these are the worst skates ever made by K2…I’d rather skate the very first backyard bobs over these skates…don’t get me wrong, I love K2, been skating them for 14 years straight!! never changed skates unless I had to ship back my broken pair to K2′s because the frames used to break right next to the H-Block, but other than that…the original black K2 Fatty Pro’s they also make right now are the only skates for me =)

I just beg K2 to do one thing to their skates….make them quality like you USED to!! the King 55′s were the most amazing skates ever…overall best quality skate they ever made, but now they just cut corners and use cheaper materials to save money and also to sell the skate at a lower cost, which I can understand, but fuck man, make a skate that holds up for more than 1 month!! since about 2005, I have considered all of my 20+ pairs of skates I have owned “disposable” skates because I wear them out in about 1-2 months =(

well, I guess I’ll stop complaining now and will end it with….I love you K2, but help a mutha fucken brotha out and make some quality skates again!!!

  38. Who had the-"bitchnblunts" custom K2 pair Says:

Any comments Mr. Hyser??? Wouuld be quite interesting.
Oh yeah,K2, hook andy kruse and walt austin up agaiin. AND jimmy shuda

wonder what year hyser left K2???

  39. Who had the-"bitchnblunts" custom K2 pair Says:

The any comments Tom Hyser was directed at what he thought of these newfangled red slippers.

  40. pom Says:

    Eric garcia,

No shit, I had 03/04 fatty pros and they were great quality but i screwed em up trying to put a better soulplate on em. just bought the new fatty pro. what a cheap piece of shit.
the liner material is now so damn flimsy and soft and shit. the soul/heel plate is all hollowed and the whole boot is subject to torsion like a mutherfucker.
so i didnt mind risking the skate again to mod it( i’ve put a remz backslide plate in it).

k2, you have the potential to be at the top but you’re being cheapskates and shooting yourself in the foot…(not that i’ve riden varsities, mind you)

  41. dub Says:

If you have never ridden the skates please don’t comment. The carbons also feel light when you hold them in your hand but they are some of the most durable skates out there. How come so many bladers insist on reviewing products they’ve never tested? This is childish.
