if they didn’t have those stupid fake poper things over the lace holes and just looked more like a trainer and the old style i might like em. I loved K2 skate not sure about these tho.
January 14th, 2010 at 11:33 am
i like them. Sure red-white is not the kind of colour combinantion that would make me go nuts, but the overall product seems sweet. Somehow i wish K2 to come back to rollerblading. They have such an influence on what the people find attracting, they set trends. Guess rollerblading would profit from K2

Damn liar….naa…maybe they skate great but I just hate the design and that it´s obvous K2 hasn´t even tried to take a look at the rolling scene when they made these. If they had they´d known that a skate with a look like that won´t sell in great numbers….
January 14th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
i just cannot believe that these will sell – i have never heard of anyone EVER saying they look nice… at the end of the day looks are super important esp in an industry that has no money at all and within a scene that is abused enough by the mainstream masses…
just make all the parts that are red black and sure enough you have a generic look that is not very individual but atleast you have something you are not so embarised about skating on…

k2 skates are the shit, i still rock my backyard bobs and shred the knar, in my opinion theyre better than ne skate on the market. they got bigger soul plates than ne thing out there, bigger h blocks and backslide plates and they look cooler than ne other skate hands down. fuck the haters k2 is the original. plus chicks dig em
January 14th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Like good skating man, that fishbrian stall was insane.
really good style
January 14th, 2010 at 3:02 pm
about the skates i don´t know my older brother used to ride k2´s back in 98 and for that time they where really good i think the best until salomon came out! but this dude has so much style!!!
January 14th, 2010 at 3:16 pm
i love josh jones!
January 14th, 2010 at 3:20 pm
i have to admit, i hated the look of these things when they first came out but they’re growing on me now.. they are a fresh new look which is cool.
i wanna see more of how they can skate though, i wanna see big backslides, long torque slides, lots of switch ups and big gaps..
January 14th, 2010 at 3:26 pm
shit for $189 for a pair of skates who gives a god damn what they look like … seem like they skate well . im in
January 14th, 2010 at 4:59 pm

January 14th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
yeah the King 55s… i still know how i felt the first time i put those on. Amazing!
January 14th, 2010 at 6:56 pm
Further evidence that on the feet of a good skater any skate ends up looking like it’s a great skate.
I’m sure they skate great, but my god those are the ugliest skates of all time. Only the first generation psirus and legacies were worse, in my opinion.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:00 pm
Yeh I’m not a fan of the poppers and the varsity jacket style cuff material but I supopse they are pretty cheap and with a bit modding (i.e. a stanley knife) you could cut off most of the crap design..
If they’re anything like the original fatty pros I’d be perfectly happy to skate them.
Hoping to ufs mod my old fatty pros with some of these souls
January 14th, 2010 at 7:19 pm
King 55 and the Style Points!! both those were sick.. a few minor mods and they would be good to go!!
January 14th, 2010 at 7:26 pm
I am happy K2 is making aggressive skates again, but not thrilled about this skate. I do look forward to what they offer in the future as far as colorways. For now I would rather not wear something on my foot resembling something an 18-year old basketball player would wear to Geometry class. I just don’t see the appeal. Maybe get rid of those unnecessary “style points” and you would have a winner K2. In other words, don’t try so hard to mock something, do your own thing.

nice Tricks nice Edit

Seriously, I think these skates look sweet as hell! It’s time for something new! And really I don’t think that should matter, you can’t skate something if it doesn’t feel good! Most comfy skate ever as well as well made! Everyone has different taste I guess……..

January 15th, 2010 at 12:26 am
Perhaps the skates are actually really good so it came across as an advert…
January 15th, 2010 at 12:59 am
They truely are that good!!!!!!!!!
January 15th, 2010 at 1:24 am
so does the cuff rip up like before or what? it was always the cuff rivet or the cuff giving up. lol
January 15th, 2010 at 2:32 am
It seem they have fixed that problem… I won’t be able to tell untill I ride them longer, that problem occured after time.
January 15th, 2010 at 2:52 am
i like this review..it showed great potential in the skater and yes even the skates…looks do matter and what ive heard is K2 euro team picked the design…and they must have been smoking crack. but on the positive side i really remember how k2s blew up back in 97-99 and damn i always wanted a pair but they were sooo expensive…but hey all K2 needs is a better design and you youre back on the market! go differant colors differant design…though i think this varsity skate is just a door opening to bigger better things hopefully for k2. Voice your opinion on whatever skate you may have opinions on by contacting their maker whether K2, Razor, Nimh etc. and tell them how you FEEEEEELLLLLL and what you think can bring the industry BACCCCCCCCCK via email and telephone or word of mouf. Thank You ROLL4lifeNIMHRIDER

Josh Jones I’ve been a fan of yours since “Eye Candy.” Nice edit, I’m glad you’re still rolling around. For K2 I’m excited that it came out with something fresh. K2 is the underdog at the moment so, I’m excited for the future competition of the skates this year. Screw it, I’m buying them just because I love the skates by K2.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:53 am
Backyard Bobs were the best! So if these are anything like those then they could very well be my next pair of skates. Very nice skating by the way Josh. Good review of the skate, no bullshit little kid stuff. Straight to the point like a real OG.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:01 am
One more thing……Sure K2 is in it for the money, and I don’t hate them for that. One thing it shows is that some people have faith in a comeback in our sport and to me, being a rollerblader for the last 14 years, thats a good feeling.
January 15th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
This is the varsity without the lace hole button covers.. they look 1000000000% better. and the skates are so comfy its rediculous.
