Leichtweis is once again welcoming the best inline skaters and thousands of spectators for the Tenth Annual Bitter Cold Showdown at Modern Skate Friday and Saturday. [...]

March 4th, 2010 at 1:43 pm

March 4th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
i`m so glad, that this media thing really happen in the whole world this year.
rollerblading is back on the map worldwide!
stronger than ever and nobody can deny it!!!
March 4th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
fucking right chris..WE NEED SOME GIRLS!!
March 4th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
what the fuck is up with lame as hell footage they showed they even show aragon just doging knee high jumps thats ridicilous
naah at least some media coverage
both thumbs up ;)
March 4th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
Honestly the low quality of footage was a failure of the rollerbladers. They should have been able to spot that a TV news station was there (obviously) and talked to them about which obstacles they were going to do tricks on so the camera man would know where to shoot and what to shoot.
Being a professional goes way beyond being able to skate well, they need to be able to recognize situations like this and take control of them in order to promote rollerblading to wider audience. Dont blame the media.
March 4th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
No you can blame the media. I literally sat with the cameraman and pointed out the rollerbladers and obstacles he should be filming. Was very specific but still did not help once the piece was edited. Good interviews though.
March 4th, 2010 at 5:35 pm
wow…. for someone whom i’ve compared and hear(read) other people compare to as the Rollerblading equivalent to Bam… Nick Wood’s interview was so incredibly mature.
and yea, editing picked really bad things to show… considering they are saying this is the showcase of all the best in the world… yeah they did a terrible thing here showing someone practicing a disaster fish stall, and little stupid warm up skating with no tircks…
Lame
March 4th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Ok. so this is what i think we should do. wrie their asses some letters and any time we have major comps (BCSD, Hoedown, Barn Burner, etc) we tell them, they show up and hoepfully they shoot some atual good blading. That way we can get more footage on the media whos down?
March 4th, 2010 at 6:07 pm
sick! I love skating right now. something kids can look up to now. good job nick and haffey! great exposure
March 4th, 2010 at 6:24 pm
we need em bitches lol stunt roller blading??????? r u kidding me!!
its freestyle rollerblading or aggressive inline it doesnt sound anymore gangsta than that
March 4th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Nick Wood was so professional there (although I heard they did cut out the bit where he pissed all over the camera man).
Good tricks or not, this is good exposure for us and for the venue.
March 4th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking lame, our sport does not need to be put into main stream media. This is just the beginning of our sport going down hill. soon were going to be the next skateboarding, and kids are no longer going to fit in or be cool unless there rollerblading or sporting a razor shirt. I say fuck this, keep rollerblading out of main stream media bull shit. they already did a good job fucking it up as you can see………… “stunt rollerblading” what the fuck is that.
March 4th, 2010 at 7:09 pm
chris M shut the fuck up. we need mainstream media attention to get out of underground bullshit. so shut up.
March 4th, 2010 at 7:32 pm
even if it does go main stream i’ll stay underground
March 4th, 2010 at 8:40 pm
mainstream sports always have a way to weed out the posers not to mention that our pros and skate owners would finally be able to support themselves from skating alone. And some of u would say thats its not about the money, well this isnt Brink. Ur not a sell out, ur just thinkin about the ffod or college payments u have to pay for.
True there will be some companies that come out with there off brand version of aggressive skates but if u use skateboarding as a prime example all the really big origional names are still around. As long as there are people like us in our local skate parks schooling kids on what to get and what not to.
I started in the late 90s rite when it was getting huge. i was always into rollerblading but when Brink came out it opened my eyes to a whole new world that i couldnt imagine living without rite now. What if its like that with thousands of kids around the world, who only need that alley oop soul on the six oclock new from some guy name chris haffey to open their eyes?
March 4th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
i hate fox news. that was kind of beat, but it’s nice to see some mainstream coverage.
March 4th, 2010 at 10:19 pm
I cant believe you people bitch about our sport not getting any attention and then it does and you bitch some more its fucking unreal. I am glad to see the sport get some coverage even tho it was on fox news who the fuck cares.
March 4th, 2010 at 11:24 pm
yea, whoever said rolling needs to stay underground, is a complete tard. whoever said the posers always get weeded out, im clapping my hands over here. What rollerblading needs(and will get in a matter of time) is a resurgence. Lots of people skating all over, on tv, everywhere. when i started, that was all i would see in my town, and it looked siick. so i took my middle wheels and got on that bandwagon. Bought some kids lightning trs’s when he dipped to start skateboarding. and slowly the posers quit when everyone else did and i was the only person left in my town who skated. But almost every cool person and good friend i have today i have met through rollerblading. I think thats the cool thing about skating, you almost have to be real to be attracted to skating. there is something so real about it, that just brings real people into the sport. that footage was pretty lame, but hopefully the spotlight on chris will get a bunch of kids to at least to youtube him, and you know how youtube can get…kids might end up watching 4 hours of skate videos
cross your fingers
March 5th, 2010 at 12:04 am
ahah wtf the first trick is kato i think he was wearing that same shirt during the comp
March 5th, 2010 at 12:05 am
first (missed) trick lol
March 5th, 2010 at 12:09 am
Sweet! Glad you chose to post it :D
March 5th, 2010 at 1:11 am
Damn he didnt have to say we dont get any girls.lol
March 5th, 2010 at 6:24 am
This is freakin awesome, now we are getting some where!!! Since I’m on my iPhone right now instead of a desktop computer I can’t view the video but from what it sounds like a lot of people who have commented weren’t completely satisfied and all I know is that “hey atleast we are getting some positive exposure and atleast it had Brian Aragon doing some knee high grind tricks and slide tricks”. What would be cool is if we could get on ABC’s Good Morning America more than once, that would be so cool! OH AND JUST TO WARN EVERY ROLLERBLADER BEFORE IT HAPPENS, SOONER OR LATER ALL THE NERDS, FAT KIDS, AND 32 YEAR OLD VIRGINS ARE GONNA CRY TO THE WHOLE SPORT OF ROLLERBLADING AND ASK WHY WE DON’T HAVE ANY ROLLERBLADING VIDEO-GAMES. THEY WILL PROBABLY SAY THAT ROLLERBLADING ISN’T THE BEST SPORT AND HOBBY IN THE WORLD IF WE DON’T HAVE ANY VIDEO-GAMES. WHAT’S NEXT A VIDEO-GAME CALLED “Chris Haffey: Pro Blader 1″?
March 5th, 2010 at 9:43 am
rye has a point. someone could have taken control over that situation. but then again none of us were there to see what happened. coulda been that the camera man just filmed random shit and then got an interview with someone.
also, im glad some of you guys are realizing that rollerblading needs to blow up in the mainstream.
March 5th, 2010 at 7:42 pm
Hi,
This is nice to see this on TV, but it’s always funny to see how people who don’t rollerblade film rollerblading so bad…like they don’t even know where is the trick!!
Is the trick rolling, jumping, sliding.? they don’t even know!!
March 5th, 2010 at 10:07 pm
like most of you have said, yes its always a plus to see rolling in the media especially promoting the event which in end result may or will get kids and older people curious to see if there is more to what was just shown in that news bullitin… and more people watch and then hey girls may take a interest and be curious about more than just the event ;) , yea chris could of said things better in regards to girls.. but hey we have been poping up all around via online and local news so it is getting better… steady but solid progress is the key and when the time comes we ll do things the way it should be…
and like you said coach the newbies what to do and establish a solid foundation where in the end we wont have to realy on outside sources to do well as a sport\lifestyle.
