I have been waiting for this moment a real skater owned company. The wood pushers have been doing it for a long time and our industry is now finally doing it. Go Jon and Brian!
October 25th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
that interview was pointless. they didnt even talk about the skate!!!
October 25th, 2007 at 2:10 pm
DAVE BELL IS THE WORST GUY EVER
bummed of shima, thinking he owned him at slamm jamm
he cant even skate
hes soooo ”DANGEROUS”
=/
October 25th, 2007 at 2:17 pm
That clip shows, that to do a good interview is somthing very difficult… and that guy didnt a good job…bluesk8r is very right!
And guys, Shima is a good skater, but why always this hype about him??
October 25th, 2007 at 3:26 pm
fuck all of what you haters say…. shima ye a man of the past, present, and no doubt future of rollerblading. end of the day you all comment on how good or bad it went, but until your there and having to deal and do things like what the media team bust there asses to do dont dis them the interveiw went great, you were not the ones busting your asses. all the guys at slamm jamm were making things happen i was there so fuck the haters keep up the good work dave bell!
and holla to my home boy paul cargill!!! for dealing with interveiw so god damn well!
holla………………….
the real cal ross
October 25th, 2007 at 3:42 pm
oh come on, its not about hating someone or some group, it has to be possible to critize the work someone did. As I said, doing a good Interview is difficult and needs practise and good preparation. What we saw in this clip was not good, thats the point. But they can do better next time. And hell yeah, I know what I’m talking about, @the real deal cal ross, because I do Interviews myself, you little child.
October 25th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
ye fare enough man,my point was you were not there and that to show respect for the effort not to critize lil minor details, and as for you doing interviews thats great respect to you,but slamm jamm weekend was hard for the media team but they always pull stuff and great things for everyone.
October 25th, 2007 at 4:07 pm
Thats what I’m trying to say: just because I say that the interview was not very good doesnt mean I dont respect the work of the people over there!
But you are right, around here the people like to write shit about people they dont know…so I can understand your reaction a bit!
So, I hope the next time the guys are better prepared for the interview and continue to do hard work for our community!

cheers benjamin, il pass on the respect to the guys haha, its true people to talk shit on here not realising how hard and how much effort individuals put into something we LOVE. rollerblading isnt about fashion or talking shit its about having the fun and helping promote the industry to younger generations, wise rollerbladers like brain shima are whats great about everything and what he says in the interveiw about living the dream is correct only hope is that people and everyone else realise.

worst interview ever
October 25th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Here is the deal, I knew I was interviewing Shima a week or so before hand so I had an interview ready. However it was supposed to be a PAPER interview. Dictaphone and paper all that nonsense. Dave Bell then lets me know about 5 minutes before the start that he wants a podcast. So yeah plans changed and suddenly I’m not as prepared. These things happen.
I did ask about the skate BUT as far as I am concerned that is not that interesting. If you want to listen to Shima repeat the press release then go for it HOWEVER I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the most influential Rollerbladers in my lifetime and thought I might ask him something different.
Also there is about another 10 minutes of footage NOT in that interview because it is too hot to handle. All I’m saying is 4×4 video.
I don’t care if you criticise however there is always a back story and most internet rollerbladers seem to forget that.
Last thing, don’t hate on Dave Bell. That guy is doing things that no one in the UK is putting effort into doing and by this time next year it will all fall into place and your jaws will drop.
October 25th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
how did paul cargill do an interview?
how is he even getting into all this media?
god damn, that fringe he had done him wonders
pitty he isn’t good at skating
but hey! “im a kid” “he can prolly beat me at skate” “im a grommit”
eager for fame.
October 25th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
”’Dave Bell then lets me know about 5 minutes before the start that he wants a podcast.”’
worst
interview was sick
if you didnt like it then dont watch it again
delete it
get over yourself
learn to skate
stop posting shit
im off to interview julio
and latimer
and ricardo lino
October 25th, 2007 at 10:17 pm
@Paul
Good to know that, explains it. But if you dont know the background, you can understand that there is reason to critize, right?
But hey, for me its ok, next time it will be different and lets see what the skate will bring…and the 4×4 video!
roll on!
October 25th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
Oh of course, I understand that.
Criticism is different than hate. I can take criticism I don’t mind. Next time at least I’ll know what I’m in for!
October 25th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
good shit, i really enjoyed that.
October 26th, 2007 at 12:20 am
The guy held a freakn’ brand new skate in his hand and talked about the death of mindgame…shima hasnt even been on mindgame for some time now! I wanted to know why I should buy the skate and that guy didnt even ask about it besides like -so why did you start up your own skate company (and you need to say it in a girl voice). what the crap!
October 26th, 2007 at 1:28 am
Why you should buy them? Then check out http://www.nimhskate.com/
Why you should watch the interview is to find out what one of rollerbladings greatest athletes thinks of our recent history and where we are going.
Balmore.

October 26th, 2007 at 6:54 am
Awesome, it’s pretty rare that Brian is interviewed on camera if you think about it. Good job Paul. Thought the interview was sweet.
Hope the event was a success.
October 26th, 2007 at 9:08 am
Thank’s Chris, means a lot. I’m a huge fan of your work.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:47 am
I’m reading the postings and now I know why Cal Ross reacted like this…sometimes the internet sucks…all people writing shit just because they dont have to say it face to face! So my support you have from now on, I like people who do some work and not only write shit in the internet!
So, go on, all you skaters trying to support our community! Paul, the next interview I will watch with interest!
October 26th, 2007 at 11:32 am
so paul, you had the skates in your hand… tell us about it!
your personal opinion and the details
October 26th, 2007 at 2:06 pm

October 26th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
i thought you did a great job, especially now knowing it was a bit of a surprise. Shima isn’t the biggest public conversationalist so it’s sick to see him get into it on a few different issues. only thing i didn’t like was the poor audio, get some lavalier mics (the kind you can clip to your shirt) for the next interview.
October 26th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Alright, first off to answer some questions or reply to some statements.
Al – Yeah the mic issue, since we have pretty much decided that we will start doing these interviews at the events we cover (I really enjoyed doing this one) we are already looking to invest in mics. Obviously we did this on the fly so we were lucky I even bothered bringing my tripod.
As for the skate – It is light. Look’s gorgeous. The boot itself is NOT a classic Razor shell has had been suggested elsewhere on the internet. It is sort of standard shell, nothing fancy just without a toe. The cuff is a new mold also and features lace holes so the option of no buckle is there. The soul plate looks fast. Really fast. But I didn’t skate so that is just an impression. I was really impressed especially considering how much time Shima spent in China getting it right.
