BCSD XIII: The cold end ends here

The Journey To BCSD 2013 by Cody Sanders and Mick Casals
Photo Set on Flickr.
After covering over 3000 miles in under a week from Austin, TX to Detroit, MI and back again, the journey is over. This is a small collection of pictures from our trip to the north east. This was by far the most wild, drama filled, trouble laden blade trip I have ever taken.
Tk was caught shoplifting $1.00 gloves, almost going to jail, we opted to pay the store 50 dollars to let him go. Later he destroyed the hotel ceiling tiles, almost going to jail again. We lit fireworks in the skate park, sneaked in gallons of liquor to BCSD, everyone lost all their money, a purse, their id’s, our own car and eventually our sanity when we discovered we were stranded and homeless in Chicago after a blurry weekend full of fast times.
Every photo in this set was taken in between all this calamity and more. Hope you dig. :)

CJ looks amazing on those skates ! JBah too looks really smooth. Sizemore looks like SHIT on those HUGE ugly K2s !!! haha my gawd. Career ender right there.
Montre also looks 1000X smoother on USDs ! Good move on his part. SSM couldn’t even afford to send any of their skaters so gay.
I wasn’t there but looks like Roman or Wake should have won. CJ’s biggest trick was the back tourque to ao top acid… didn’t even look that hard.

Montre did so many tricks. You seriously have to watch every edit to see all his tricks because no one person could have caught all of them lol. And he did it with a smile like not even trying that hard (except on the fakie 7 ao soul OUCH!), just having fun and absolutely lacing his tricks. He should’ve got 4th maybe 3rd.
I think Roman should maybe have got 1st just for the sheer volume and difficulty of tricks he did. 1260, 900s both ways over the box, 720 the channel, b roy rainbow 450 off, that sideways rodeo flip that only he can do, tru sav rainbow rail, 450 roy the HAFFEY GAP and 450 ao unity? If Broskow landed one of those tricks the crowd would riot. just saying. THe only reason he didn’t get first was because he tried to push the sport by landing that dub flat spin over the launch. You seriously shouldn’t penalize someone for not landing a trick when no one else in the building will even try it. Haffey needs a mega just to get that trick rotated. Roman got it rotated but couldn’t get his feet under him. pretty amazing right there!!

^ Everybody was giving Roman mad love…you make it sound like the judges DIDN’T WANT him to win. The results are fine. When the comp ended most of the ppl there that I was around felt like any of the top 3 could win…it was that damn good/close.

@3:50 he needs a bit of butter with that roll haha

CJ is just it right now. Montre is phenomenal. Sizemore is the man. Roman is unbelievable and Wake is the future.
February 27th, 2013 at 7:26 pm
CJ is sick! but kind of always does the same tricks doesn’t he? that backfarf spin out, alleyoop topacid revert, etc.. it’s ok now because cj is ‘new’ but will get old soon I’m sure. that’s park rats for you. he’s a sick park rat though!!
February 27th, 2013 at 7:55 pm
^Every pro does the same tricks. I mean they do the tricks they’re comfortable with and also they have their signature tricks. Bailey will always do sweaties, Broskow will always do toe rolls, etc…

CJ kills it on street, park and vert….

BRIAN WEIS @ 2:14 IN THE ONE EDIT!!!!
ALSO, THERE WERE FOUR (4) SSM RIDERS @ BITTERCOLD.
THE PRO CONTEST WAS JUDGED PERFECTLY.

was haffey hurt or something? couldnt make it out this year but from the edits didnt really look like he skated much.
February 28th, 2013 at 2:13 am
Montre cheered for himself like those tricks were gonna pay for his kids education…

i’m just wondering why cj won. I’m sure he deserved it, but from the edits, i didnt see anything crazy he did. I absolutely love that dude’s skating, from his clips in the edits though, it seemed to me like wake or roman should have beaten him, if there arent a few bangers i either missed, or that havent been in any edits yet.
February 28th, 2013 at 3:31 am
Yeah Im really wondering why CJ won. I swear Ive only seen maybe 4-5 tricks of him from the comp. and seemed like he got way overshadowed by everyone else. Can someone explain?
February 28th, 2013 at 5:38 am
CJ had more sick tricks then whats in the edits. Roman probably had more hammers, but they weren’t as laced. CJ also had consistency, landing almost everything 1st try. That said, I think it was a toss up between them for first.
Wake had the hammer of the comp with his hard spin top acid on the rainbow, but he didn’t have the quantity or consistency of the top 2. Sizemore was killing it with tech and smooth style right up until the finals where he slipped just a bit. Montre schooled everyone on the red box, stopping sick shit all night, but he would have benefited from using more of the park. Brett Urbas had the tricks, but just wasn’t landing ‘em when he needed to win.
Not criticizing any of them though, the comp was unbelievable
