I brought my D90 to the Clash, mostly for taking photos, but in the end i don’t even shot one pict, but took a lot of footage.
Due to the lack of a good grip for filming on a DSLR (and me not wanting to haul around a tripod) it’s pretty shaky. Mostly i had to concentrate on try to keep the focus and had a lot of shaking and stuff. But it give the whole thing a unique look that looks pretty interesting IMHO.
There is no significant Storyline, we, more or less, go to thru the travel, the pre-clash days, and the whole main happenings incl. the ride back home (who was endless, i tried to capture that in the long outro sequence).
I hope you enjoy that little flick wich is not about hard tricks but more about having a good time and sitting in trains a lot.
Thought we’d bring you a few clips of the silent assassin from this years Winterclash.
Some might say this is “the only fucking Albert Hooi edit from the clash that mattered to mother rollerblade”.
Haha but that would be arrogant and a lie… Filmed by everyones favorite GUMBA, under the influences of Holland and amongst a pushy crowd of 1000s of people.
The drama surrounding this years Winterclash will never be forgotten. After the Newpact skatepark in Antwerpen, Belgium mysteriously burned down 2 days before the competition, it was moved to the Area 51 skatepark, Eindhoven, Holland.
This edit by Simon Mulvaney documents some of the crazy tricks that were pulled off during the event.
Thanks Matthew Dearden.
Rollerblade video & report by Sven Boekhorst:
12.02.2009
In the afternoon I got a call from Ralf who is working often at the Area 51 skatepark saying that Winterclash was cancelled because of a devastating fire and that I should call Jojo to check what is up because my own Mind the Gap ramp was in the skatepark as an extra obstacle for the Winterclash. I thought he was making a sick joke but to be sure I called Jojo and the way Jojo answered his phone made sure that Ralf was not joking.
After the phonecall I did not know what to do because myself and Dick planned to go to Sint Niklaas to have a small warm-up session. Without a skatepark this plan was impossible but driven by curiousity I decide to go to Sint Niklaas to check what happened with my own eyes. [...]

Travelling to Eindhoven in the Netherlands to the biggest event in rollerblading: The Winterclash.
Had a great time at the Area 51 Skatepark. A lot of thanks to Jojo Jacobi for making the Winterclash possible after all the trouble (the Newpact Skatepark burnt down completly).
Head to Head Battle:
The final is between Steven Swain from the U.K. and Brian Aragon from the U.S.A.
They skated on the big disaster box. First Brian landed a disaster hurricane topsoul, then Steven landed a disaster 540 truespin miszou. After this Brian was trying 540 backside savannah and Steven was trying fakie 630 to something. But with this it ended due to the lack of time. (Be-Mag Online).

Still waiting for the full & official Results.

After attending our first Winterclash last year, ONE was for sure onboard for another European adventure to this year’s event.
Though only one half of the ONE duo would be able to make the trip, on the Thursday preceding the contest JE met up with Sean and Colin Kelso, Adam Killgore, Montre Livingston, Jonjon Bolino and Jeff Stockwell in Amsterdam to unwind, pick up a rental van, and get on the road to Belgium.
But as we all know, that was not to be. So instead we headed to Eindhoven, which meant all five days of our trip would be in The Netherlands. An unexpected surprise leading to the most hectic Winterclash to date. This is how it went down on our end.

up: We are still in shock with the judging of this contest. We’re pretty sure EVERYONE at the Winterclash felt the same.
Something must have been in their water. Despite the controversy, A HUGE BIG UPS to Jojo Jacobi and the whole Winterclash crew for holding it down and overcoming unforseen adversities.
Good times regardless…the errr controversial judging.. ehh did we mention the controversial judging?
Enjoy some sweet blading of Bailey, Broskow, B Smith and special cameo by Jon Jon Bolino
