Jon Julio released few infos about Blading the Game ; we have an empty website at Bladingthegame.com for the moment.
I’m sure you are all excited to have a new blading game. What do you think this game could be?
An Iphone app seems to be the easiest and lucrative way to produce an independent game those days. I would love to see a PC/Mac moddable game, with the ability to customize skaters with their own skin.
Update: Jon Julio posted a screenshot of the level building process. The work is done under Autodesk Maya.
Featured Skaters? What would be your top 10 skaters to be featured in the game?
Introducing the Valo JJ Light, 1/2 Kilo Lighter, 5 mm wider and longer, open toe shell, all new 2 piece soul system, all new upgraded valo light liner.
Jon Julio pulled time out of his busy Valo schedule to answer some followup questions I had regarding the new Valo Lights that are scheduled to be released June 2011.
The rumors about the Valo light were flooding the Internet for a while. How long have you been working on the Valo light design before you released the final product?
Jon Julio: Hmm design wise.. at least 2 years.. maybe more..
Since the 1st preview at the 2011 winterclash , How has the rollerblading community responded to the idea and concept of the Valo Lights?
Jon Julio: I felt like it went really really good.. Def stoked to get the response that we did especially from kids who don’t ride valos.
Now that Valo has ventured into the carbon fiber market, do you feel the Valo lights will receive the same amount of support from the Valo masses as the original shell?
Jon Julio: Advantages of wider and lighter shell will help in a big way. Also having our original parts compatible with all the new Valo Light Parts will help recycle old styles with the new… We will see in June on the reaction! But so far so good. [...]
JJ: After “WAV3? dropped, I was already thinking about names for our fourth video. Right away, the name “4Life” was brewing in my head. “4Life” became more relevant as time passed. It’s a strong and inspiring title.
IN: To be honest, I am not really sure when it was all born. It was just something that kind of happened, and before we knew it, it was all happening. Now we’re here and in the middle of something that seems to a good thing. So, we’re just kind of taking it all in and seeing what we can do with it. [...]
I want to say it was 2002 or 2003, I was already established in skating and I was riding for a company called USD. My problem was that I had my head wrapped around a lot of projects. I had one distribution company that I worked with making my wheels / hardware, another company I was working with doing a street contest called IMYTA, and there was also this video game that was coming out that was called Rolling and I put many hours in on that project. But that’s a whole different story.
“During this time period, I was also working with a bunch of music artists like Sage Francis, Sole from Anticon, and Masta Killa from the Wu-Tang. I was making a DVD surrounding all those artists and rollerblading”. [...]
