Xing : South Korean Online Rollerblading Video Game

Xing, South Korean Rollerblading Video Game

View | Download a Video Preview of Xing, a South Korean Online Rollerblading Video Game. You can check some concept art of the game here.

It seems that the game will use a Cell Shading Renderer, which offer it a similar look to the Jet Set Radio Game. 8 characters are planned (check the image above), this game seems to be very promising !

Thanks Imarx !

it looks like a kind of cross between tony hawk and jet grind radio with a little bit of racing in it to me.

  2. mCpA!N Says:

jeah, thats what i thought. its a lil bit exaggerated

  3. nikee Says:

sorry but that game looks shit.

  4. BASZA Says:

sadly, graphics doesn`t look as good as it looked many years ago with release of JSR on DC. Besides it seems it would be a racing game , which is completely missed idea. Let`s hope I`m wrong…

  5. FunkyRenegade Says:

Looks like JSR… It looks poop.

  6. ponis Says:

    rollerblading is so gay

Jet Set Radio/Jet Grind Radio was not every rollerblader’s vision of a game to represent their sport. That job was left up to “Rolling”, which sadly, never turned out to be too great and was riddled with financial troubles the whole development lifecycle.

Lately, I see there is some activity/postings about Aggressive Inline on PS2, reviewed by Jeff Gurstman on Gamespot. This was a fun game to play, but in my opinion, way too embarrasing to represent our sport.

Back to Jet Set Radio… this in my opinon was the best videogame, in terms of production values, the great graphics, varied j-pop/j-rock soundtrack, and fun gameplay throughout. Easterners do seem to have a different take on rollerblading, which I welcome since I think rollerblading is drowned in westernism. You will see rollerblading in some quirky places in japanese culture, comics, anime, videogames, hentai?! (as one guy mentioned). That online magazine.. Ocomo? (was that it’s name?), also showed a distinctly different approach.

I like the idea of this game Xing, but I can’t help feel… if Jet Set Radio did it so well beforehand, how will this be different/better? I guess the first answer is that it’s online and not restricted to a games console, and you don’t often see cel-shaded videogames online, so it’s promising from that point of view.

Well, I look forward to it anyway… looks interesting…

Jet Set Radio was awesome, i had it on dreamcast.

They had a concept of rollerblading + graffiti and the soundtrack was awesome. Plus technically i think that this was one of the first game to use the cell shading Renderer.

  9. Matt Rennehan Says:

Wow, that looks exactly what I thought it was gonna look like. As soon as I heard it was animation I knew the idea was going down the drain. I’d still play it though haha. I’d Represent and support.

No… This is not what I had in mind. A racing game? Please! We’re hardly that these days! There isn’t anything linear about the game from the videos either. looks like several race tracks with online competitors and a few trick lines which I’m so sure are extremely limiting. Why can’t someone get around to making something really worthwhile. It’s just another fun romp into rolling which isn’t a bad thing but I think it’s about time we are taken seriously or, like skateboarding back in the days when they too got crappy games then, perhaps we have to wait even longer before we get any kind of recognition.

Haha speaking of racing games does anyone remeber 3xtreme for psone? bikes boards and blade racing each other while doing really gay tricks….

  12. superroller03 Says:

i wish the usa got a new game :( aggressive inline is the only 1 :(

  13. andreas542 Says:

we need something to really represent what we do for us to enjoy it i think

a game that focused on grinds would be good, maybe a slow motion feature (like the focus thing on tony hawks underground)

i love doing tricks that i could actually do on rolling, rather than jus button bashing

it looks pretty shit tbh tho

  14. Chris Says:

looks exactly like jsrf to me

  15. kiki Says:
