  1. flowskate Says:

i hope they got to show there skills on other areas not just on the mini??? ahhhh…

i want to see some mega ramp! seriously though its going to be a big push to get rollerblading back in the x games at the moment

there was no one there watching that

props though guys was all sweeet! talk about best mini session you could ever be a part of!

  2. cool guy Says:

lets make a prediction; it will come back to the xgames, for a while we will be flooded with new kids (good for finances) everyone will then start to bitch about how it used to be so much better when it was only a select group who did it solely for the love.

I hate the xgames but if its going to help us with a solid financial foundation then so be it

  3. Anonymous Says:

so we get back in the xgames and they put us on a shitty little ramp in the car park !!!

  4. In the name of all rollerbladers Says:

    Okay,

this looks.. NOT GOOD! In ONE magazine, when Shima started Nimh he said that we do not NEED to be in the X-games anymore.. And now, we are doing this? A mini version of a mini ramp.. with, i counted 7 spectators..

Thank god that Brian did some flips to show something. Outsiders do not know the difference between high tech switch-ups.. so for that reason, a mini ramp demo is not a good idea. It reminds me of demo’s with Scooters! They had the same thing going on when Rollerblading was in the X-games..

I’m not hating here.. but be honest and see for yourselves.

But cool that some Pro’s joined to give it their best :-)

  5. Anonymous Says:

pretty lame if that is all they got to perform the demo on. lets look at this in positive note, xgames has opened the door for bladers to come back. lets get 50k views on this little edit. numbers do the talking.

  6. rap Says:

    Good job guys!

My little rant: Is it me or the x games are dissing us by putting bladers in a mini ramp way in the back.

“The X games is like the X girlfriend, second time around shame on us” – Action sports philosopher

  7. hahahahaha Says:

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaahahahahahha

    oh shit 4 foot mini
    hahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhaa

  8. 37 Says:

X-treme Mega facepalm. Rollerblader dudes half-assing grinds on a miniramp, most depression inducing announcer ever, no audience but a handfull of rollerbladers: Outsiders don’t want to see this..I don’t think anybody wants to see this. I certainly don’t

  9. Mike Says:

It’s shame that rollerbladers had to present thier skills on this tiny ass ramp. This doesn’t look so impressive to be honest. I think they should give us some rail, gaps… not that funny miniramp.

By looking at this video I’m sure that we can forget about X-Games :(

  10. Anonymous Says:

fuck the xgames. how can they give the bladers such a small ramp. that sucks.

  11. marco Says:

yes, this ramp is a joke, but when you see the high level skating at competitions today, nobody can`t deny, that this sport is so fucking crazy and stylisch today.
we are like freestyle skiing in the summer and you see how much respekt
this sport gets from snowboarders and any other sport in the world.
its impressive, and now rollerblading events are impressive too.
im not a big fan of spin to win tricks and all that stuff, but it is so fucking high level right now and will be better from day to day.
all my non skating friends are wondering how good it looks today
    compared to the past.

so im sure, that we will find our way back to the tv and to some big events.
still waiting, but it will happen!!!

    best regards.

  12. LJ Says:

hahaha.. what a JOKE !! rollerbladers are fucking lame ass shit…. they give us mini ramp.. lol.. at a demo.. what a fucking JOKEEEEEEEE !!

  13. Ano Says:

I’m Happy we have a demo but come on Rachard Johnson, Julian Bah,Dre Powell what a waist for a mini demo.

There are better skaters for the job.

They all turn up and think its a jolly

  14. Yi Yiiiiiiiii Says:

Well, I think we officially just got fucked by the X Games for the second time.

  15. Australian Says:

    fuck this is shit.
I dont know what else to say..

All those skaters are amazing, and x-games just took another shit on us by putting them in the mini. x-games are control freaks because they are all woodpushing fucks with hard hearts.

what really topped it off was hearing montre say “its breaking my heart” saying he wanted to skate the street course.

Why couldnt they skate the street course? because woodpushers know they themselves will look inferior if rollers get on it and wipe the floor thier raggedy ass wood loving.

Unless I see an edit pop up with everyone destorying the street course in front of an actual crowd and being shown some actual respect by xgames then this is my prediction… those who skated the mini will be pissed off and x-gays will be laughin because they just had an opportunity to try and dsigrace rollerblading again. my vote is fuck the x-games. we have enough of our own culture now to not have to put up with the woodpusher-xgays and all their other un-enlightened followers.

  16. Dom Seven Says:

    X Games ??????????????????????

  17. Australian Says:

also.. Asian x-games are alright. They obviosly dont give a fuck because they probably have rich bussiness men supporting it who couldnt care less about wood.

  18. Anonymous Says:

Should have saw this comming. There wasnt anything on the website about this. In that case how are people going to know that its going on. Im glad rolling might get some public view. Rolling needs new blood and some revenue. More revenue more products. I’ve been skating for over 13 years and the expierences I’ve had and the people I’ve skated with over the years are something I will never forget. I hope this keeps going and others can have the same experiences. In order for this to happen rolling needs to be promoted by something that the common non-skater watches (X-games, MTV, Movies, etc.). Yes, these are the same things that over advertised and “Sold-out” Skateboarding and BMX. This may get more skaters. Rollers need to get other people rolling. Either way its a demo, might get some new rollers or it may do absolutly nothing. Either way I’ll still be rolling and meeting new people along the way.

  19. Anonymous Says:

Man I agree that this is such a bad way to show what is possible on skates. but there will be a park demo too and we really got the best dudes out there to represent our sport.

  20. tim Says:

what a letdown, they weren’t even making that much effort :/

  21. skate2create Says:

suprise suprise… i could only hope that the demo would be about the use of the bmx track and street course…. but of course… thanks x mini for trying somthing… other than that move on and get things happening that are more exposure .. great if views of this will spark curiosity in outside viewers and have them looking at actual street sections and park…. on you tube ..

  22. Laurens Says:

Ok, I feel a need to compare this event to Taig Khris jumping from the Eiffel Tower and jumping at Mont Martre. All the hate Taig Khris received about not representing our sport is seriously fucked up when you see a bunch of guys skating in the parking lot of the X-games witnessed by a couple of people who might have been lost and stumbled upon this. Hate on Taig, but the guy had over a 1000 spectators, started and owned (I don’t know if it still exists) a rollerblading shop in Paris and has basically pushing for the popularity of the sport.

You know what the big problem in rollerblading is? People who hate! Somebody does something good, let’s hate, let’s call him a sell-out. Or are we just so pissed that we didn’t think of this earlier. I’m sure Taig loved being dressed in a sponsor T-shirt, having to drink just that bit more of his energy drink for the camera’s. Reality is that brands want this, skateboarders have done this in the past as well and continue to do it as we speak, it’s business!!!

STOP HATING, START CREATING!!! We are the only ones keeping rollerblading down!

  23. Earl M Bryan Says:

good skating by some . bad idea if restricted to minnie ramp , not enough support from the local seen to which should have been their in masses just to see n support fellow rollers

  24. Smashin' Dumplings Says:

Does anyone actually know why rollerblading got kicked out of the X-Games in the first place?

Im interested to know as whenever I watched it on TV there was always a huge turn-out in the crowd, or is it just the obvious theory that Tony Hawks got released on the Playstation and all kids started skateboarding (which totally did happen) and suddenly the X-games blading crowd turnout halved over night and we got the boot?

  25. Anonymous Says:

    waste of fucking time

look at skateboarding companies like traffic who dont want to be involved with xgames, look at skateboarding and see how they have an civil war going on within there own industry, xgames breeds athletes and people who care more about advertising than skating.

skateboarders use board stickers or choose clothing by sponsors then spend all day getting one photo for an ad so they can invoice the companies that are rep’d in the image

if this is what you want rollerblading to become, take up football.

    skate for the love

  26. Dan-Man Says:

    wow. I don’t think I would of even skated…..

    FUCK THE X-GAMES.

  27. whats his name Says:

@ Smashin’ Dumplings. I’m surprised u don’t know this. U should watch Barely Dead. Arlo explains in depth why but to make a long story short, why does ANYTHING get canceled from anything?…. becuz its not as profitable as they want it to be. Vert stuck around 1 or 2 more years becuz of the yasutoko Bros but even they couldn’t keep interest enough. Kids wanted to see more moto x and all that shit so they made room for different sports.

  28. The Doyle Says:

    Soooooooooooooooooo disappointed .

  29. Anonymous Says:

this looked so lame. a mini ramp… seriously? that is the best they could put the bladers on? let them tear up the street course or something!

  30. READ ME ARAGON! WE CAN SAVE ROLLERBLADING Says:

im going to wait untill i see the full clip, but this looked weak

  31. Smashin' Dumplings Says:

    @ whats his name

Cheers mate I don’t think I watched barely dead ever, yeah I knew it was due to lack of paying viewers at events, however it was more the reason for why the rollerblading crowds were depleted so much that I was looking for. But by the sounds of what you say, the rollerblading crowds were probably still strong but the X-Gmaes just worked out that the paying crowds could be even bigger from other sports, so we got dumped.

So really to get back into the X-Games we must gain huge popularity (outside of this extreme sports media platform) and once we have a natural popularity thats higher than other sports currently in the X-Gmaes we might be able to push them out of it like they did to us years ago. Thats pretty mammoth, although to be honest I tend to see equally as much rollerbladers compared to skatebaorders these days, well thats at the parks I go to in the UK, so you never know, anythings possible.

  32. Romero Says:

    Fuck this shit.

  33. The Doyle Says:

    @Smashin’ Dumplings

in my town we are outnumbered at least 10 to 1 and i know its like that all over the US with maybe the exception of california. i wish i could move to the uk if were so much bigger there.

  34. Callum Says:

    That was beyond pathetic.

When i say weak ass – you say bitch!

    WEAK ASS!!!!!!!!!

    BITCH!

  35. arlo Says:

give up on the x games letting you skate a mini when they have mega ramp n park course that y’all would show the whole crowds up…. just give up… i am surprised they didn’t have y’all combined with the razor scooter kids

  36. chris edwards Says:

x games is lame without rollerblading

  37. tilletbomb Says:

Wow… raw footage is never that appealing.. but still.
If what taig did was gay, then this is really really really really gay.
They were better off just paying all the x-games competitors and spectators to take dumps in their mouths at 10 cents per nug.
They would have embarrassed themselves just as much but at least they’d have a couple of bucks for mouthwash.

Rollerbladers really are confused. It’s funny.

  38. bill clinton Says:

i’ve seen like 5 new tricks since tony hawks 900 on vert which is wak… ceasor mora asa nyc 1998 summer did 900 for first time i think hawk then few years later did 900 now some 14 year old kid will land it in less tries

  39. kaspa Says:

this is the biggest insult to rollerblading

white rails behind the mini in the left look sick…. shudda skated them.

  42. eckerslike Says:

    0:17

Your comment was a bit too short. Please go back and try again.

  43. Yea, Im Hatin, so what!! Says:

MAAaaaaan. That shit sucked. bunch of dudes fallin on a 5ft miniramp. Rachard Johnson is fat and cant skate either, guess thats why he brings that lil fat kid with him all the time lol. And that kid sucks. hes got no fucking style. Way to represent rollerblading lol. GOD I HATE THE US and im from here. Go to Europe or South America or to Japan or China… theyll show you how to put on a real demo.

No wonder you guys dont make money. You halfass shit, then talk shit about Taig Kris. lmao. Get the fuck out here with that shit. 5ft mini bullshit. “WE OUT HERE…bein lame as usual” hahahha. thats your new catch phrase.

  44. yay Says:

Smashin’ Dumplings ……….. it not only that … its explained in barely dead that its also because at first …. rollerblading was the main attraction in the x-games and bladers were getting more recognition after just 3-5 years in existence ( and were sloppy and acting prickishly) than skateborders 10-15 + years existences …. so skateboarders got pissed and started this huge propanganda against rollerblading and it worked

  45. Ian uk Says:

Chris Edwards could have put on a better mini ramp display that this. That was lame and lazy. Montre and Rachards friend seemed to be the only 2 actually skating. Honestly there wasn’t a single trick that I couldn’t do! Now that is fucking lame seeing as I am a non professional, 28 year old over the hill skater with some of the worst skate spots in the whole of the Uk to session!
No wonder Xgames ditched us…..I retract any negative views that I may previously felt over the whole Taig Chris thing…at least he got people to watch.

  46. ARAGON SOLD US OUT TO BLADERGANG Says:

THE LAMENESS OF THIS DEMO IS BRIAN ARAGONS FAULT!!!!!

Why would you invite Dre Powell, Julian Bah, Rachard Johnson, & Ricky IF you want to show people the BEST bladers in the world. Aragon is a jerk for allowing his “friends” who barely skate anymore, to represent us. Better off ONLY him Shima & Montre blading it.

  47. Anonymous Says:

^ Sooooooo agree, that bladergang crap needs to GTFO of blading.

  48. Anonymous Says:

wow. dam embarrassing considering the skills of those skaters. First off if your going to do ANYTHING park related you need JEFF STOCKWELL. This is not a step forward……………this was a slap in the face.

  49. Anonymous Says:

Now I hatez the Princess Aragon

  50. Anonymous Says:

from what I understand, X-Mini sponsored and set up that whole “interactive skatepark” area. It was open to the public to skate, and since they were sponsoring it, they (X-Mini) went ahead and threw a rollerblading demo, since they apparently are into rollerblading. The X Games are NOT into rollerblading, and it seems like they (the X Games) cancelled the originally planned other demos on both the competition park and street courses, leaving only the one on the X-mn- sponsored mini ramp. dunno but the bikers and boarders prolly weren’t too thrilled at the prospect of rollerbladers waxing up the competition courses for their “demo.” So X-Mini is the one who ran the demo, and we should all be thankful to them instead of hating anyone for the quality of the demo/obstacles that got skated. They can only try, after all. Also, the BMX park final was going on at this time, so it should be obvious that most people were over there watching that.

BUT, this only shows that comps like Bitter Cold, Winterclash, even the Blading Cup and NYC Street Invitational coming up, ARE the real deals when it comes to blading comps. Someday, if we get enough people behind us, those will probably be the events that get televised, and think how nice it will be then to have the stage all to ourselves, instead of having to pretend to give a flip about Europeans driving rally cars.

So overall, thanks X-Mini for trying!! We hope to see X-Mini represented at some real ROLLERBLADING comps and thanks for sponsoring Bearagon on rollerblading’s behalf.

  51. Anonymous Says:

    * and for sponsoring Soichiro and all the Asian blader dudes too.

  52. Earl M Bryan Says:

lol wow in simple tearms bad planning as normal

  53. Liam Wrenn Says:

Say hello to the parking lot sideshow. Hope they got to get down on the main courses in between comps.

    sadface.jpg

  54. Anonymous Says:

I wish arlo would of still been announcing rollerbladers. That would of been entertaining .

    Why was rachard ther… …. ………

  55. dirteelegz Says:

razors needs to drop all their fat skaters its shameful. I dont care if they did the best trick in the world they still are super fat. Stop eating meat or drinking so much jesus

  56. Scott Wilcoxson Says:

Sad they were only allowed to skate that little mini. Not possible to show where rolling is at, amplitude wise, on such a small ramp(obviously). Sadly we need sponsors in order to get payed, so being back in the x-games will bring alot of needed exposure to the youth(because most “adults” dont even remotely care about rollerbladers, only Nascar, baseball, etc). Then if we have a really good video game come out, we’ll be set.lol.

  57. Izi Says:

Where is the hummer, glocks and drugs?!

  58. dyed red deshis Says:

    1. it wasn’t the lack of viewers Smashing D.
2.Ricky is good but not on Mini, he kills on Street.
    3. Yes this was a poor example of what we can do. grinds ruled and barely any air, spins or flip tricks.
    4. Why wasn’t Haffey, Stockwell, Julio, Roadhouse, Murda, Cudot, either Jeremy Spiza or Soderburg there. Why have guys who don’t really do mini too well there.
    5. Why didn’t anyone try to be creative by transfering out of the mini to the stand and doing something else. Maybe Frankie could’ve done 900 out. That woud’ve got their attention. So what we can grind longer and better than skateboarders. The way you push it is in viewers.
6.Where was the whole Cali scene? I worked all week this week, but damn I know those of you without families should’ve showed up to support.

  59. mr. wilson Says:

    what a fucking chest….

  60. DanNetting Says:

i bet montre would of done an insaaaaaaaaane misty of that huge wall to flat and everyone would of been like WHAT DA FUCK that could have possibly made espn sit up and take notice.
And from what ive heard over the years is that we were chucked out of X-Games because “rollerblading was becoming too much of an art form rather than a sport, with flatspins, double flips, huge rotations etc” but thats bullshit Travis Pastrana has almost perfected a corked 720 on a motorbike thats fucking insane and thats one of the tricks that pros have had on dial for agessss yet Moto X is still in the X-Games. Pro Skiiers and snowbaorders have had double flip tricks and even bigger rotations than us for years with tricks such as triple corks/ rodeos being thrown down. I would very much like ESPN to explain to me how that does not fall into the catergory of “artform”

  61. Anonymous Says:

I guess we’ll let you guys have half an hour on that mini in the corner..

hopefully today’s demo will actually be a demo. with seating room!

  62. Mark Says:

Wow… I don’t know all the facts, but if this was an actual demo, then whoever arranged it has in a way, allowed the X-Games to take huge dump on rollerblading, again. Yes, yes, X-Games is the worlds largest “action sports” venue; however, this is like pissing on the poor. We should NOT be greatful to be a part of this. It’s not about how much exposure rollerblading gets, it’s the quality of every bit that we do get. If you have one shot, you don’t waste it on a back-lot kiddy show on a 4′ mini using anything less than your industry’s absolute best professionals. Still… This may not have been that bad, afterall… I didn’t see a crowd, so it’s not like it really hurt rollerblading’s image either.
As someone else mentioned… If only we could push our own venues like Bittercold and others. For now… All you rollers out there keep pushing and promoting on the local level, and continue to throw down huge hammers at the parks where all the kids play and skate.

  63. LJ Says:

    this shit is beyond CRAP…

  64. daboy Says:

this is how the xgames treats the best skaters in the world? a fuckin mini ramp? FUCK THE XGAMES!!!!!!!!!!! THEY FUCKED US OVER ONCE AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

  65. Cole Collins Says:

What the fuck did you guys expect? This is to show the X-Gmaes that there are more tricks being done then when we used to be mainstream world-wide and to show that our style has changed up some. We now have black guys who are doing good now and this is coming from an Irish/Native American. We need more races in our sport other than Whites, Russians, and Hispanics which will catch everyone’s eyes! AND THE WORD “X-MINI” WOULD PROBABLY MEAN ROLLERBLADING ON A MINIRAMP IN THE X-GAMES!

  66. lol Says:

people people people….. you have to walk before you can run ;-)

  67. Markie Says:

@daboy the problem here is that wasn’t the best bladers in the world, i mean, dre, jbah, rachard, and ricky????? If the BEST of the BEST came through that demo would have been good. Believe me, the best bikers and skateboarders in the world would have KILLED that mini ramp & it would have been entertaining to a general public. Bladings best were not invited to that demo, just mainly Aragons bladergang buddies. Thank god Shima, Montre, & Aragon were there.

  68. Anonymous Says:

Face it, Aragon let us down. His blader gang buddies are to lazy in reality to make skating look good. Any one of them would drop blading like a bad habit for “Rap Stardom”. They should just stick to bad rapping, drinking, smoking kush, & creeping on underaged girls.

  69. J.S.F Affiliate Says:

soichiro’s sponsored by X-mini……..why wasnt HE there!?!?!?!

answer me that, fucking joke…….ya’ll shoulda know from the beggining that this wasnt gonna save rollerblading

bring ur ass to the blading cup in santa ana or fish’s NYC invitational!

(maybe aragon just felt left out not putting on his own event on like julio or fish, so he rushed into this X-mini Xgames demo thing and it BLEW UP IN HIS FACE!)

    p.s

way to go on showing up in a stretch limo, made u look THAT much cooler……..for 1 day!

  70. WTF! Says:

I want to see them fucking jump the fence and crash the xgames street course…..rollerbladers gotta take it back to that rebel mentality honestly that would make them look so much better.

    this is fucking embarrassing

  71. chris napoleon Says:

i totally agree, we do not need the x-games in rollerblading. theres no right from wrong, but what i just saw was wrong. there was no need for that mini ramp, they need a full course for each individual sport designed for their sport. not just some typical mini ramp. this is lame as hell. that mini ramp was lame as hell. they easily could have had one more fitting. i mean seriously if they want to see that style of rollerblading they just should have let our vert riders of the sport show them whats what on the actual vert ramp. but no instead we threw our best street riders on some lame pre-fab like mini that you would find at some skateparks. ROLLERNEWS YOU FAIL.

  72. Boom Diggity Says:

Jesus Cole, you’re one ignorant motherfucker aren’t you?? Why don’t you go make another shirt like a good little bitch and send it off to Razors who will promptly jerk off on it.

You are a fucking idiot and should get rid of your blades asap.

  73. Boom Diggity Says:

You know what, fuck it, I’ll say it. They should have shown up and been all like WHAAAT THE FUCK IS THAT? And refused to go on. Fuck all this shit. You gotta have STANDARDS.

  74. Anonymous Says:

This is a slap in the face to rollerblading. Excluding our top professionals from the street courses and making them skate the mini was probably just a way to set rollerblading up to fail. Now they can say they “tried it out and the investment doesn’t seem worthwhile.” I think the demo would’ve been better off if it was exhibited on the stair rails where the camera man was filming from rather than the mini.

  75. dyed red deshis Says:

again they needed real park rats. these guys except for aragon aren’t park rats. they’re real street. Have, Stockwell, Feinberg, Dave Jones, Bruno Lowe, Sven, Stephan Alfano, Romane Godaire and others and they would’ve ripped it. however they also had a bad announcer, no excitement. no music. In retrospect, many things could’ve been better. It would’ve looked much better if they had a 6ft. mini with a spine or an small launch ramp. It’s over now, maybe ESPN will wise up and do a best of the best to see who deserves to stay. have the best in BMX, Skateboard and blading go head to head for one of their spots in a single competition. that’s proper and would gain everyone’s attention. Of course we all know that bikers and boarders would never agree cause it would show just how weak their disciplines really are.

  76. nice Says:

The X games obviously have something against blading. Putting them on a mini ramp at a time when it seems most people were in bed.

I would take this rebuke as a good reason to stick two fingers up to X games management for good. I think Aragon should have done a 900 into the street course and started sessioning that

  77. Liam Wrenn Says:

Hey guys we’re in the XGAMES AGAIN!!!!!!!

    Oh fuck…

    Never mind. Parking lot sideshow.

  78. booga Says:

ya de la motiv’ la!!!! merci les x-game pour ce grand moment de solitude….mdr

  79. Anonymous Says:

well that was just a big punch in the face ……

  80. hoer Says:

you guys must understant that this is just random 4 min skating,

maybe a warm-up or som? or just a view lines…

Wth in a competition these guys wil shred, and yall know that.

    Ontherwise …………

what do you expect in a mini-ramp? lines with some switch-ups an some spins…
There is no room for brutal hammer time…

And the x-games is all about going big,

So maybe this mini-ramp belongs not on the x-games.

But its a sin to cry about this edit…

In the end, we have a lot of huge competitions with the best inliners(like the ones in this edit) battle each other with hammers, and hammers, and hammers….

maybe its not broadcasted on ESPN, but you can watch it on rollernews(and hate on it)

  81. Sid tha Kid Says:

This is ridiculous…big let down to the blader community. If there was a street course for them to skate that would have been tight, but a mini ramp which is prob in the parking lot…..Come on now. Ive always had mixed feelings about rollerblading back in the xgames. I mean it would be fantastic to get some exposer but not like this. It makes blading looks so lame. The bladers should have revolted and took over the street course to show everyone what the fucks up. FUCK 5FT MINI RAMPS. FUCK THE XGAMES. FUCK MAINSTREAM. What makes our sport so unique is the fact that people do it because they love it. I love the fact that its a small community and that everyones so close. Mainstream would kill rollerblading Culture….DONT YOU SEE IT!

    Wake up.

  82. Adam Says:

Your pros draw 5 people to watch a mini-ramp demo…lol. France will rebuild rollerblading. People want tosee big tricks, not guys in vests tapping ledges.

    Raw footage guys.

1:05 was sick, anything Aragon did was sweet, and Montre’s last run was sick.

Check out the winning run of the Skateboard street, and BMX park. It all seems pretty tame. 5 tricks in one run it seemed… average.

Shaun Whites vert run was dope.

Should have had some of the top mini ramp guys there for that demo. But I’m sure there were more tricks to it.

  106. Kenny Says:

Really on a miniramp? I really hope they went to a street or park section for the demo too. If the didn’t the mini didn’t do anything to get it back. They had some of the best bladers there and didn’t let them show what they really got. They were just better off playin game theory on big screen. But if they bladed elsewhere for the demo post it asap please!!!

  107. gazmos Says:

Rollerblading has only gotten better since WRS started their own thing. We are better off looking for sponsors that will let us represent blading the way it looks best. This mini ramp bull shit doesn’t doesn’t do the sport any good. I agree with the Barely Dead theory, rollerblading was eating away at the skateboarding industries profits and they had the capital to blacklist us. When it comes to business people get dirty so if we want rollerblading to be a profitable sport it’s gotta be built from the bottom up without the influence of anything the skateboarding industry touches. Think about it, just about every sport is shown of fuel tv with it’s glory moments. The second rollerblading shows up all you see are epic fail moments. There’s a lot of hate focused on this particular industry and the motive is money.

  108. ^^^^^^^true Says:

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out stocks in the skateboarding industry hit an all time low when rollerblading was at it’s prime. That would definitely piss off a lot of people….a lot of people with money and a motive. They’re probably the same people that pushed to get us off of the other demos where spectators might actually see us and obstacles where the sport can shine.

  109. seaboss Says:

i laughed at the guys comment in here about rollervesting.

    but seriously:

people. if you understand a bit of sponsoring and money, then you see that that money doesnt grow on trees. x-mini is a sponsor over there and therefor had the right to “create” a few events or in this case include a rollerblading demo. because money talks. and probably because some asian old-school-roller working in marketing in this company still has a bit of courage of trying to support rollerblading. that doesnt mean though, that he has the budget as well of flying over an entire team of asian to do a demo, because it would cost too much money. 5 pros, flight forth and back = 5000 bucks? thats a lot of money that needs to be justified with your boss, isnt it.

from a perspective of working in an exact industry as the x-games, i would say= poorly integrated sponsoring and x-mini will most likely not sponsor the x-games again. rollerblading will be out then again, too.
sorry but thats the way it is.

  110. eee Says:

Wow, that really showcased what rolling is about. Fucking around on a shitty little mini ramp – WEAAAAAKKKKKKKKK

  111. Ben Says:

Lol, Brian must be so ashamed now.. after all the hype… i’m ashamed too :( Can’t show their real skills..

  112. Ben Says:

They should’ve hit those rails at the end..

  113. rob pruett Says:

frustrating very to say the least !!! Chris Haffey is involved with nitro circus who works with all the skateboard bmx scooter etc heads in buisness which is aired on mtv surely if hes friends with them and also work buddies he can try and get us some exposure or speak to the athletes and get them to reinstate rollerblading. I no thats not how it should be but sometimes you gotta take the shit and get on with it !!

  114. old school Says:

Back in the day we skated in front of thousands of spectators. Our motto was “go big or go home.” Nowadays skaters live by the motto “go small and don’t get your pantz dirty.” If you want to attract kids to rollerblading and get spectators and sponsors, you need to man up, grow some balls and get on the mega ramp, not the mini ramp. Xtreme sports have gotten even bigger, while we have our pros wearing vests and skating small shit. This is aggressive skating not figure skating. You can laugh at Taig all you want but he’s getting people interested in rollerblading. This Xmini demo was an embarrasment. Chris Edwards would have front flipped the mega ramp and people would line up to watch.

  115. "Things are about to get real" Says:

Let me first of all say that I don’t really care either way if we are in the X games or not because like most skaters i don’t care if we are cool or not due to the fact that we don’t rollerblade to be cool. However if this is something you worry about, let me state that being in The X Games will NOT make us cool again.

The strap line for this years X-games was ‘Things Are About To Get Real’ and i suspect that the irony of that is lost on the organisers. Frankly that sounds like the tag line from the hollywood film of the comp. In fact, I don’t think you could get any less real than that strap line or the X games as a whole.

The X Games is a toy commercial. It was dreamed up by people like Benetton in order to sell toys, like rollerblades, BMXs and skateboards. So as well as being good promotion and all that bullshit, it is the extreme sports equivalent of Toys’R'Us.

What ever it may be it is certainly not cool. 200 million people think it’s cool because 200 millin people in the world are either little kids or fucking douche bags that would jump off a cliff if they thought it was cool. Being cool is overrated. Being cool is by definition, being acceptable and as rollerbladers i feel that most of you will agree with me when I say, FUCK BEING ACCEPTABLE.

Just because something is popular doesn’t make it good. Lets look at 90% of chart pop music. Selling a lot of records and being SHIT is totally possible and in fact more common than not. Now obviously if someone offers you the chance to ride in this fake fest for lots of money you’re going to do it. What I or anyone else thinks wont stop us being sucked back in to the X games eventually as unfortunately money talks and some people will always take it.

Just remember it wont make us cool. The X games is amazing promotion, a great spectacle and overall will bring in some much needed money but don’t forget that it is the ultimate sell out which by it’s very definition is not cool.

As i’ve said, personally i couldn’t give a fuck if we look cool or not because i’m not very cool or if we’re in the X games or not because i don’t make money from skating. But if you want us to be seen as cool, then not being involved with very uncool things is probably a good idea.

  116. Gonzalo Says:

To be fair to Aragon, he was the only one who seemed to be trying to do cool shit (and actually landing tricks)

  117. jawn Says:

why does every one think this demo had anything to do with x games it was a x mini demo not an x games demo.

  118. John Juan Dillingham Says:

Hate it or love it, we’re getting back into the mainstream again. While I’ve been doing this longer than some participants have been alive, I can say that it’s way passed due for bigger exposure. I don’t care if we’re accepted or not, but more exposure means more money. Our pros deserve to make more than $17,000 a year. Regardless of how “uncool” you feel about us being given this small spotlight, you have to realize that at the end of the day, you need money to live.

Or you could just live off the land somewhere and still blade, but that sounds like more work than it’s worth.

    Just my 2¢…

  119. Poopy Ass Shit Says:

Hey Ito had a good idea. Let’s write complaints to ESPN. Seriously. The X-Games HAS gotten super commercialized and pretty corny at times, but it would make a huge difference on the health of our industry and allow our pros to make a lot more money.

  120. Anonymous Says:

  130. DJ Skinny Kenny Says:

Can everyone atleast look at it this way? If they got 5 kids to go buy a pair of skates, they did their job. If we get only a few new people to skate, that is that many more bladers then we had before and that is all that matters. Just like they said in Barely Dead, the best way to create new bladers is to put people on skates and let them try it for themselves. I hope they at least did that. If anything, that is the direction they should have gone with this demo, hopefully they did…

  131. Anonymous Says:

I don’t believe the line “any publicity is good publicity.” Nothing good can come of our top pros being given inadequate equipment and made to look like the sport is weak.

Props to Aragon tho for doing some cool shit and at least trying to liven it up.

  132. whats the big deal? Says:

if you havent noticed how whack the xgames has been ever since early 2000′s then you wouldnt care how whack this mini ramp was… its so dumb to try and get back in there when that shit is pretty much brofest 2011. if u watched that shit on espn it was the shaun white games brought to you by shaun white, powered by shaun white and sponsored by shaun white…. why the fuck does any rollerblader even want to be a part of that crap?

  133. dyed red deshis Says:

to anonymous however many you are. These aren’t mini nor vert riders. they’re street guys. if they could’ve done the Street course then we’d all would’ve said something different. Mini can be a lot of fun. and fun to watch. but not like this. David has kids as friends just as I and everyone else here who gives back to our community. Show the younger generation how to do things right and teach them the history of this thing. You think cause you’re young and apparently still immature that it’s weird. as a mentor/ coach/ fellow rider you don’t think it was weird for Murda to teach Bah a thing or two. or how about Arlo teaching Feinberg when they both were on USD or Senate? it’s that giving back that makes us better. That makes us progress.

  140. Tom Says:

If you put the best skateboarders in a miniramp they would kill it!!

Dont blame everything on that mini!!

The most people think rollerblading is gay fuck yes it is look at the new stuff that came out all the new edits and shit its embaressing. Aragon looks like a fucking backstreet boy. Check out Thrasher Magazine skateboarders have so much respect because they earned it – they are badass real street skaters and they dont give a fuck how they look. And if you think that rollerbladers do bigger shit than skateboarders than you are wrong!! Emerica Stay Gold check out that vid than you know why they are that big!! and than look at razors new vid looks like a gay boyband!!

  141. gazmos Says:

@Tom: Skateboarding has got their line of talented skaters like in any sport but there’s been as much crap edits thrown out there as you see in rollerblading. I’ve seen a LOT of sections that are composed of nothing been board flips on 2 foot obstacles. Sure some of that stuff is tech but some of it can look pretty gay and pussy. Let’s not forget about the 70′s when wanna be surfers would do a 2 foot carve on a slightly angled drive way and think they were bad ass. If camcorders were abundant back then we would see a lot of gay as shit online.
If skateboarding didn’t care about their image they wouldn’t have name brands like DC and etnies that just about everyone in the industry wears. Then there are wanna be dog towners that would sag their girlfriends pants while carving 2 foot quarter pipes. They’d fit right in well with Broskows crew of peter pan wanna be hipsters.
My point is, any sport can look gay and easier, and any sport can look tight and challenging, it all depends on the people representing it and the obstacles the choose or are given. Razors new vid does make their crew look like a gay boy band but the response from most of the people in our industry said the same thing. The reviews were so bad Razors fired the editor. And I’m sure Emerica Stay Gold is as tight as you say it is but I’m sure there are plenty of skateboard videos you wouldn’t recommend.

You may think the french have no style but you’re apparently one of those idiotic Americans that think you’re the best at everything. When you’re not.

Oh and Alfano got more people who know nothing about our sport to watch on his edit and he did much harder tricks and laced them.

Know what you’re talking about before your dumb ass comments next time.

P.S. a “rant” normally makes no sense and is non-coherent. My thoughts on this matter is very logical and apparently from the new French X-games edit, very true.

  147. dyed red deshis Says:

as someone in the business. X-games means that the companies would get far more exposure than you guys would ever realize. we’d get much more revenue which means we could have much higher prizes in contest and have guys like Jon Elliott making enough to live nicely. Take away the owners of companies. What this means for you as riders. Try much more models cause with the increase of participating consumer we’d have more than enough to produce at least 3 new molds a year per company. there would be huge prizes for first place at comps like winterclash, even at LA All Day. instead of just a pair of skates or $500 cash, try $5000 cash and maybe a new car. instead of being a rider and having to work at K-Mart, you could just ride and make like 4000 a month from your skate company, 1000 from your wheel sponsor, and 700 from your frame sponsor monthly. As a financial perspective from a business person, this is what type of revenue we would get from the exposure of events like X-games and Dew tour.

I think the only way to get rolling back into the xgames, not that it should be a goal, is to take it to the streets. IMO every roller has an obligation to go out and give 110% and just rip the shit out of everything, everytime he or she skates. You gotta remember who or what it was that made you want to start rolling in the first place. Be it a movie, a section, or even the x-games; something ignited the spark that turned into a flame. The way I see it, we should always skate like there’s 10,000 people watching us–If we don’t shine then who’s going to want to pick up a pair of skates? Where is the extra money going into the industry going to come from?
