World Rolling Series: Press Release

With 11 pro contest in 7 countries and 3 continents the World Rolling Series was a great success in 2009 and received a huge response everywhere it went. Going forward in 2010, the WRS now includes all events, big and small and from all countries, allowing all riders to earn points towards the world ranking list (WRL) at any future contest.
The standing of a rider in the WRL will play a significant role for the qualification at pro contests and the finals in the future. WRS contests are assigned stars by which the amount of points is multiplied with. For example a WRS Pro contest has a 5-star rating, a local contest might only have 1-star. So the winner of a 5-star contest will earn 5 x 1,000 = 5,000 points, the winner of a 1-star contest 1 x 1,000 = 1,000 points.
The WRS website has just been updated with the 2010 Calendar (new events are still being added daily) and the updated World Ranking List!

Well done but a bit corny with the heroes, warriors and leader stuff… It is also called WORLD rolling series, there was 2 clips of non US skaters from what I saw! But other than that I was very well edited!

pretty siick indeed… sure its rollerblading but mabe this freestyle rolling would be put to good use to give the sport a good chance at getting some good sponsers on board.. and a fresh look and name.. i believe we will be able to get some good brands on to sponser the events..sure their always looking for somthing new and more exciting that will draw in alot more number of public eyes… as well as promoting the sport with the use of the money earnt and given.. for things like getting the WRS onto major sports channels and other small ones… in europe, usa, australia, asia… set the wheel rolling for good things to happen. ;) good things take a bit of time to happen.. and it ll be well worth it ;)… then we have you and me and everyone else working to show what we are about… every time we go out for a session to have fun and catch up with friends..

i thought that was pretty sick! putting the stats up like that really shows what we’re becoming. 23 countries? 25 million + viewers? it can only get bigger from here!
February 5th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
Welcome to the thunderdome bitches! 2 million rollerbladers enter 1 rollerblader leave.

Good idea and very good approach. I am very interested to hear how the viewership and specatator figures were calculated. Those are the facts that could get us media coverage. If they can be supported, they’re great for our sport. However, at first glance I am skeptical about their accuracy.

i think alot of those are from the heavy viewership in the europe contests. The FISE in France alone had over 250,000 people (it was a free event in the middle of the city) watching the rolling contest, and it was televised nationally in a few countries and same with a couple other events

FUCK, im juiced

was 100% with this edit, untill the last text, when i started rolling i started rollerblading not freesstyle rolling.

When I started skating it was on rollerblades (Boxcars….) and I called it skating! But the only thing was I had friends that also “skated” and they did it on boards. They said “dude that isn’t skating, it’s rollerblading!”
Well it’s not skating and it’s not rollerblading. Rollerblading to me, and many others is recreational skating. This what we do is rolling.
We aren’t riders, we are rollers. We freestyle roll. Aggressive skating is dead.

this is the shit

what was WRS thinking when they held the world championships in a small outdoor skatepark in Las vegas? The French do it right, and do it big. The U.S. needs to wake up and do big events.

Its well filmed, really well edited and selected. Not sure about the accuracy of the titles though. But I have no confidence in knowing its made by somebody who calls it “freestyle rollerblading”.
When the sport began in was rollerblading. Come on, It hasn’t changed. To anyone that wants in on this freestyle rolling bandwagon, you are very naeve and very ignorant. By calling it freestyle rollerblading you are diminishing the sport you love, putting a stop to creating history and legacy.
I’m off for a game of feetball. Football is soo last year.

I am proud to see our sport is having a great step to the future !
February 6th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
Very sick, though I agree it’s ‘rollerblading’, not ‘freestyle-abstract-xtreme-inline-roller-street-skating’
February 6th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
It’s a pity to notice that there is not any french skater in this clip. However 3 of them are in the top 10 list…
USA must stop ignoring other countries or they should rename WRS in American Rolling Series…
Sorry, CJ Wellsmore is Australian but in my opinion, it’s not enough…
February 6th, 2010 at 6:49 pm
geee, last time i checked i saw julien cudot in there, stefane alfano, romane godenaire as well. hmm?
February 6th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
the name debate is really stupid. to argue about these types of things is how wars start, not saying an actual war will start, just that some kids are going to get upset and start calling people names. which is cool i guess. ass hats.
February 7th, 2010 at 2:46 am
kinda juicing, but…..more alfano.
and we do more than just spin to grind, spin to grind, spin to grind.
February 8th, 2010 at 2:31 am
