Wheel Anti-Reversal Device

standing on a curb

Wheel Anti-Reversing Technology was initially developed by Bruce Honaker to give beginning skaters a safe advantage while learning the basic skills necessary to inline skate. The novice can keep both skates constantly on the ground, and parallel to each other. This creates a very comfortable and stable method as he/she shuffles forward to gain momentum.

As the novice becomes more confident, the “baby strides” come more naturally. Soon, the regular dynamics of skating are developed and the device may be removed or disengaged.

If i’m not wrong the idea is to prevent the skates from going backward. I think this can be a nice idea for beginning skaters.. Ok, i allready see the feedback ‘we, hardcore skaters do it backwards too’, yes true but the idea is maybe to ease the start of future skaters, we definately need young blood in the scene.

By the way, how does this work (maybe in the bearings ? i saw no image explanation of the device).

Thanks to Too Fast

good idea, since rollerblading is so difficult, fucking morons.

I see what you are saying by making it easier could potentially get more kids in the sport, but if a kid can’t even learn to ride, turn, and stop in skates, do you really think this same kid would have the determination to learn this on a skateboard?

that’s kinda cool, specially for little kids, getting on skates for the first time can be scary. but it only takes a couple of sessions to become comfortable so you’d outgrow them pretty quick.

Thats true, its nice for beginning skaters but it dosent take long to learn. Its kind of a waste of money. But good idea

we already get enough shit for how “easy” it is to rollerblade.

Surely some auto locking bearing like those used on BMX’s to prevent the pedals from rotating backwards to hit the shins.
I use to teach rollerblading beginner classes, people who really have never skated anything before, I’m not convinced that this device will ease their learning but on the contrary not alowing the wheels to go backwards is IMO dangerous.
The only utility of such device is to pull a prank on your friends, I can’t think of anything else…
Happy new Year by the way!

everyone in my country can skate to some extent thanks to winter/hockey, I personally think this is retarded, waste of money, if I ran a boot company there is no way I would even consider putting this technology into my products
