One of my favorite videos ever!

Damn, such a great time to be a part of rollerblading. The clothes, the music, the attitudes and personalities, rollerblading was the shit and no one could tell us other wise. Skateboarders were intimidated of us, the X Games loved what we were doing.

Nowadays too many rollerbladers (especially the younger generation) have become complacent with the current state of rollerblading.
Don’t get me wrong, I love rollerblading just as much now as ever but we deserve so much more respect and exposure. We need more Josh Petty, Aaron Feinberg, and Champion Baumstimler type guys to keep these other “extreme” sports on their toes and to make them remember the days when WE were the shit and the ones not to be fucked with. Too many pussy kids nowadays letting high school skateboarder punk kids bring rollerblading down. Some of ya’ll on here need to grow some balls and stick up for rollerblading. Sorry for the rant, disagree with me if you want, but thats just the way I feel.

  • Optimus

man i miss this, vinny just has the illest, smoothest style ! He will definitely always stand out as having one of the best style of skating ever!!. not to mention skating on Salo’s even before he updated to the soul with the super big wings. Unfortunately this was something that stands out as the HEIGHT of skating for me in some ways.

vinny minton makes way better edit than I do

  • henk

if there was one skater who would release a edit like this today …. then everyone would go crazy!
so much control and dangerous spots.
pity that this is no longer the “style” of pro skaters.
thank god we have Bolino, Montre, Broskow and handful of these pros. only to my idea they may all burn there fisheyelenses and less hipster-like behavior. But that’s just my taste …

  • Anonymous

    epitome of style

His skills and style were not ahead of time, they were and ARE unknown of until this day.

  • Dj said it

I feel that in 90’s ans early 2000 skating guys were real, tough gys – people I was not afraid to skate with in even dangerous areas in my city.
It may seem strange but as I was younger I felt safe with them. Not only becaouse of the age difference but they were just not acting like kids – what I see right now. There vere funny, but I felt like spending time with men , not spoilt kids believing on fashion.
Sorry for the opinion but there were not dressing like women, acting like sissy boys etc.
I loved rollerblading for the fact it was for tough guys even though it’s sometimes small kids but spending time with them you can hear their values as well behaviour and attitude to the sport as well as will to achieve a trick they have problems with. Earlier my older friends told me how to bend, how to balance helping me. Now, skating with youngsters I see NOBODY trying to help another one. It’s more like I’ll show you I’m better, kids are more selfish and envy – why ? I believe it will change as it’s not what people feel inside of them nop matter the age, it’s the media and cultures that create such strange selfih approach.

  • dontgetbutthurt

third time posting? thanks for the “news” Douchenberger.

  • Lucas Baumann

One thing that escaped me about Fruitbooter is the choice to end the sections with weak tricks. It wasn’t just Vinny’s section, all of them did that. It almost seemed like they were midway through the video and started editing early then just decided to release and did not switch around the clips to end strong. You have to end sections strong, it’s just what you do. Someone in the video has a little grass gap 180 as the last trick.

Anyway, criticism aside since Joe Navran’s best videos were done with Dave Temple, the section got me excited but I believe rollerblading is still in a really good place when you have people like Julio and Broskow keeping it up. No need to dog on the times now to appreciate the times then.

  • Anonymous

    god damn vinny!

  • MARC

Agreed with that guy above. If one person could release a section like this today everyone would go crazy. This section can never be imitated! So, so, good.

But. We have a lot of good skaters with us today. So, its all good. Just ignore the fad shit and keep this style of skating alive.

  • Anonymous

God, skating used to be so awesome.

  • Adam Bazydlo

Stop wishing for this type of skating again and go put your blades on and make it happen. One stunt at a time! Vinny is the man and I’m glad people respect hammers…they should… they’re dangerous and hard any human being can see that.

  • hater

Vinny blessed us with this one. And every section he ever skated in and every section he ever filmed and edited. This guy has given rollerblading more than anyone ever has. Been a true inspiration of mine and everyone elses since day 1.
