Valo Light: FAQ

1. Will the Valo Lights be available for sale at either Winterclash or BCSD?
We will only be debuting the skate for show. They will be available for sale at your favorite skate shop internationally and USA this spring.
At Winterclash we won’t be selling “other” Valo skates, but at BCSD we will be selling “other” Valo Skates. We will also have some limited edition items available for either giveaway and/or for sale. Come check us out at our booths!
2. What makes the Valo Light different from any other Valo? Will it be lighter? Is it made out of carbon? Will it have a new shape? Is the shell shape different than the current shell? Also will they be pre toe-cut?
The Valo Light will have a new carbon shell with an all-new shape. The Valo Light is 1.1 lbs (half a kilo) lighter than the original Valo Skate.
The Valo Light is now proven to accommodate a wider and longer foot. The new shell interior is 5 mm wider and 5 mm longer in length.
Through the 1.5 – 2 years of testing, Alex Broskow, Erik Bailey, Jon Julio and Brandon Smith have all had to down size from a size 8 (US) skate to a size 7 (US) skate due to the amount new found space available in the new shells.
We look forward to solving problems for people who may have wanted to ride Valo skates but have had a sizing problem and/or weight problems for Valo skates.
3. So I rock a size 10 T.V.2. I can also skate size 9 toe cuts. You think I’d be able to fit a 9 Light (no toe cut)? Let me know guys…
Perfect example of people who ride size 10 skates and can ride 9 toecut – as said above, like Julio, Alex, Erik and Brandon. You should be able to ride size 9 with the newfound modifications of the new carbon shell.
4. Will they be a pro models or just team skate? How many models at the beginning?
The 1st model will be the JJ.Light (Jon Julio) and we will release the 1st color way this spring.
5. What color will the Valo Lights be?
Due to premiering the skates at Winterclash, we will be showing pictures of the 1st color way that will be available right here on Valo-brand.com. Keep checking in. THIS WEEK!
6. Via the team Video Valo4life I noticed you made a new midsole and at first I thought you guys made a hard shell but then I saw it wasn’t. So what is new other then the midsole and the look? New shell or cuff or something?
Yes we designed a brand new 2 piece midsoul. We streamlined the look to have it compliment the shoe aesthetic. Our previous souls are a proven product.
As a team we all agreed that we did not have to change the shape of the grooves or widths of the soul areas. The grinding is surfaces are already perfect.
You will see a new streamlined look, keeping the same amazing grinding capabilities and also adding a second midsoul style that you can apply to your other Valo skates.
7. Why do you still use two-piece soulplates instead of one?
Keeping the customization available is important. We will eventually be offering the newer skates and plates in different colorways. When you see the new Valo Lights we think you will understand why we chose to go this route.
8. I’m worried about flex.. Will you be able to have better flex than other carbon skates in the market?
Actually, you will find a good amount of flex. The open shell will offer that feeling. You will also get a slightly different and better ride than the original valo skates.
9. Will you be able to use older Valo skate parts for the new lights?
Yes, you will! Valo lights and any previous Valo parts are compatible (soulplates, skins).
10. On my current Valo skates, I eventually end up tearing through the shoelace holes on the top of the actual boot rather quick, are they somehow re-enforced on the Valo Lights?
The new Valo shell will have re-enforced eyelets so you wont have to worry about ripping the holes!
11. How much will the Valo Lights be? Should we expect to pay more than pro model skates?
Pricing will be announced within the next month. Ask your favorite skate shop as soon as pre-orders are available.

Are these skates like USD Carbons I’s without cuff bolts or do they have cuff bolts ??
February 8th, 2011 at 12:58 am
valo copied the dumb “skin over hard boot” idea so they could copy Vans and Nike designs and put them on their recycled skates, and now they also copy the carbon thing which is not worth copying anyway? great
February 8th, 2011 at 1:59 am
I dont see how valo is copying the carbon thing. It was just a matter of time before another company beside usd would release carbon products aswell.
February 8th, 2011 at 4:11 am
Winston, Anonymous is a dumbass who doesn;t know shit about anything so thats why he sucks
February 8th, 2011 at 4:16 am
I don’t think Valo is copying anything. When you can make a skate lighter i’m pretty sure more than one company is going to do the same. Also valo isn’t a recycled skate; it is a rocee boot but they colab. with them to mae their skate and it has a different feel then rocees. And so what if they look lie vans and nikes, there still dope as what.

February 8th, 2011 at 9:45 am
seems as if they didn’t fix the raised heel
February 8th, 2011 at 10:31 am
Will you be able to use older Valo skate parts for the new lights?
- Yes, you will! Valo lights and any previous Valo parts are compatible. (soulplates, skins)
No shock absorber then :/

Mr. Anonymous -> You are Hilarious!!!
February 8th, 2011 at 6:31 pm
I hope they have used a new mold, and have removed the heel lift.. Sounds like they haven’t if you can still sue the old Valo Soul plates.. shame. Missed opportunity there.
February 8th, 2011 at 6:58 pm
The idea is not bad, but any improvement in liner yet?
February 8th, 2011 at 9:33 pm
they don’t have any reason to make the skate perfect – next model will always have something “revolutionary” which makes you buy it
February 8th, 2011 at 10:53 pm

1st model will be the JJ.Light (Jon Julio) and we will release the 1st color way this spring.
does 1st color way mean that there will be more later? like there are going to be different JJ colorways long before anyone else gets a pro model? damn, I wanna ride some SK.Lights!!!
speaking of Soichiro, why wasn’t he at WinterClash? Couldn’t you have given him Broski’s plane ticket? Dude just dicks around, it sux
