USD Carbon 2: Skate Preview

usd carbon 2

How does the cuff system work and does the skate use a liner?

Oli Benet: The Carbon skate was loved by most, but we always pay a lot of attention to feedback, not only from our team but also from our customers and online. We like to make the effort to improve all we develop, and that is exactly what we have done here.

Some skaters had an issue with the flex on previous Carbons, especially the front-back flex. The lack of a separate cuff was seen by an advantage to some, but many preferred the feeling of an independent cuff piece for more variable support, especially noticeable on jumps and landings. [...]

  1. Ty Says:

This is the first Deshi skate I’ve ever been impressed with. I like how it’s not so bloated any more (the “foot” part of it looks much slimmer), and the cuff looks amazing. Is the plan to introduce this cuff (and buckle) to all the other USD lines?

  2. arsene Says:

the look is so agressive than the others carbons models.
    i like it so much.

  3. Ty Says:

I’m glad the industry is starting to get rid of the “phat” look. It was a remnant of late 90′s era where everyone was trying to puff up their skates…so glad that’s almost behind us now..!

  4. Lukas Says:

…just ordered Hr.1.1s and won´t be sucked into the carbon hype a second time after being pretty much disappointed by the gen1s…at least until I have definite proof they don´t blow…

  5. hasan fukac Says:

so happy that they listen to skater and their needs…..cuff and liner!!!!!!!! but still …i think that carbons arent well protected in front area….

  6. myself Says:

    snapped two pairs, they suck.

  7. myself Says:

    however, they are pretty(;

  8. flew Says:

damn! honestly the coolest skate design ive ever seen

  9. pom Says:

mmmm, looking goooood. hurry up ETA november!

    i’ve questions though,
    1. how does the sizing compare to the ch1? is a ch1-8US the same as a carbon2-8US?
    2. do they have a shock absorber better than that token effort in the ch-1?

  10. rob Says:

not a lot of difference in the soul bed though not a lot of room to rest on for royales and whatnot

looks sick though, id certainly waste money on those if i hadn’t already with A3′s

    :)

  11. Marcus Says:

    HOLY SHIT! Sexy as hell…

  12. andreas542 Says:

So is the internal construction of these the same as the gen 2s, or has it changed because there is now the support of a cuff? I found both the Deshi and the USD Carbon cuffs too firm, digging into my ankle due to lack of both flex and movement, so the cuff should remedy this… Unless of course it’s the same skate with a cuff stuck on the outside!

  13. andreas542 Says:

P.S. Sexiest skates since Murda 1s

  14. Lee Doig is all about carbon 2's Says:

the only problem ive had with my usd carbons is the rubbing on the front outside of my feet however wearing 2 pairs of socks seems to remedy it. also the flex issue is an issue but a minor one – i skate with mine on the last notch on the buckle then the tongue always seems to end up moving out of place but i dont really care. these are things that i ignor and i cant wait to buy this boot i love the ones i have and it sounds like they have made them better. drop those mutha fuckers now!!!!!!!!!

  15. Pikoks Says:

    sooooo sick!
How much they will cost? :>

  16. zpq Says:

as all the carbons, too much for typical skaters can afford to buy… go down with price and all be happy, Industry ‘cos of flow of new buyers n people that will be finally able to buy ‘em

  17. Anonymous Says:

these are slalom skates with soul plate! fake!

  18. rol247 Says:

    yeahhhhhhhhhh i will have….

  19. Anonymous Says:

interesting, if it is possible to put remz cuffs on them?

  20. Rob Says:

You all guys love and hate and I can bet most of you don’t even know about USD Carbon heat molding possibilities.. ->

…it´s already v-cut and usd will certainly come up with colors…or is there another reason for the remz cuff idea?

  22. wh@m Says:

    THEYLOOKTIIIGHT.

  23. etoth Says:

    YEAH, THAT’S A PHAT STYLE!!!

  24. marco s. Says:

i`m in love with this skate!
Thanks usd for this step in the rollingfuture ;)

  25. JP Says:

    Lovin it : ) , need mine asap : )

  26. Juan Mosqueda Says:

ok first off..these are USD skates hahaha Deshi is no longer around…secondly i feel that Gen 3 of the carbon skate will be the best and the platform for the carbon from here on out.. I made videos on both previous carbons, and they appeared to addressed all of my concerns..not saying they listened to me, but everything i didnt like about them, as been changed..mainly the cuff and the tongue. Im very excited to skate these!!
they are going to be in the $349 range, yes kinda of expensive. But if you are serious about blading, and you take care of them..they will be worth the investment without a doubt!

  27. Anonymous Says:

mine fell apart and have no front protection
usd needs to make real skates instead of speed skates with soulplate and cuff

  28. not myself Says:

Myself: Please tell us how you “snapped” two pairs of carbons

    calling bull on that one

  29. Travis Stewart Says:

hey, my friend snapped his Carbon LE’s in half, the shell literally cracked in two. He only owned them for about 4 weeks too. USD replaced them, but still, it happens. I don’t doubt it happens to others. he wasn’t even doing anything big, they just broke.

  30. very nice Says:

Wow looks like remz had a baby with deshi and a usd legacy. ugly as fuck.
The tongue looks pretty dope though.

  31. ClassicCarbon Says:

Hope they dont stop producing the Classic Carbons…. Im going to buy 2-3 more pairs just in case…………..

And.. In my opinion the problem is that their not trying to fix the problems of the first usd carbon. They Just changed all the concept!!!!!!!!!!! Now this is a common skate with half of the boot make of carbon and a fucking plastic cuff!!

The “no liner” liner concept is OUT Again! I think is a terrible mistake!!

And to top it off… what the hell is that buckle? We already dont have too much to customize.. Just let us change the fucking laces, and buckles, and soulplate as always.. We dont need a different Buckle System!

  32. deubeul Says:

i never liked black skates, but this one… woww…
make them in white, and i cum on my screen

  33. deubeul Says:

but i wonder how they could weight the same if they add a plastic cuff?..

  34. deubeul Says:

and if i understand well the liner is now removable?
so basically the liner is a generic sifika liner, the same that was in the ch1?
could you speak a little more about the liner oli?

  35. Rob Says:

Where exactly did you read new carbons will have LINER???? Nowhere.. it won’t!

  36. Lee Says:

I liked the idea of the old carbons, but it had major comfort issues. They grinded like a dream but were far from my favorite for just rolling. These correct many of the problems I felt in the originals.

I recently had the opportunity to try a pair of these on, and was very impressed. I’m riding my 3rd pair of Razors SL boots, and love them like crazy, but these may pull me away on my next skate purchase.

  37. Nice Price? Says:

If these skate are a dime over $300 they can keep them in their warehouse.

  38. Stock Picha Says:

If you guys didn’t know, here’s another pic of the Carbon II’s:

    skatesetup.com/link.php?action=detail&id=5477

    They are actually quite ugly.

  39. Come on people Says:

Fuck you guys, honestly? Okay let me spell it all out for you guys who can’t grasp shit:

There is no liner, it’s just like the older carbons but with more padding around the heel/ankle.

This is obviously not just a gen 1 and 2 carbon with a cuff attached, use your brain. They stopped the carbon lower down in the skeleton so the plastic cuff does all the flexing instead.

The upper half of the shell/ankle area under the cuff is more like a beefy liner.

A plastic cuff is not even going to be noticeable weight wise. Have you ever held a cuff on it’s own? It’s like 3 fucking grams. Calm down you whiners/pussies. If people can skate nihms, and valos, I really doubt a plastic cuff on these things is going to cause them any grief.

They look amazing. Like the best quality skates you could possibly buy by a long shot. Such a strong come back for Powerslide. Keep it up over there, your attention to quality these last 2 years has been noticed.

    FUCK!

  40. chris s Says:

    These skates are the future.

    Props to Powerslide!

  41. locozurro Says:

    a …….mazing skates ¡¡¡

  42. JP Says:

“come on people” just said it all

Loved it , just LOVED IT.
imagine the white ones ! OMG

  43. Anonymous Says:

fuck man, i wish new york had a normal fuckin shop so people can go and try skates on, blades has like 4 skates from 2 years ago

the skates look real good and proper, who knows how the ride, i honestly dont understand valo ppl

  44. deubeul Says:

“come on people”, i was just asking questions cause i loved the first carbons.
but you’re certainly right to fuck me, cause i’m really dumb.
thanks for your clever and gentle comment.

  45. deubeul Says:

and everybody knows plastic is as light as carbon.
that’s why carbons weight 1kg when valo, usd razors etc weight 2kg.

these are old deshi with slalom cuff!! the idea in not new!
suol plate are sloly like my old dirk rollerblade…

no support carbon! support the plastic and fuck the carbon!

  49. Lee Doig is all about carbon 2's Says:

hold up does anyone know about bmxing? or downhill biking? you’d pay £3000 up for something thats concidered ok if your into the sport. you make your own justifications on whats ok to spend. i have no problem with justifying spending that money cos i want to not necessarily cos i can afford to cos im actually pretty skint but none the less i will!

  50. Spen Says:

Have to say I skated the original carbons a couple of times and just hated them, massively uncomfortable and so hard to bone over. These look good in the pics but that’s because they have the buckles undone to make it look chunky, just looks like a black shoe normally. I’m sure loads of people will love them, but not for me, Remz all the way.

  51. DR!NO Says:

    I like!
but i prefer Rollerblade!! ah ah ah ah

  52. marc H Says:

they look 100x better than the first ones

    2. OF COURSE YOU CAN PUT WHATEVER CUFF YOU WANT ON!

    4. OF COURSE YOU CAN PUT ANY SOUL PLATE ON THE MARKET ON!

    5. CARBONS ARE STILL WIDE FOOT!

  68. For the good Says:

    look ugly as hell…

  69. HA Says:

To everyone who thinks they are ugly (the 4 or 5 people), why don’t you design your own skate??? I bet they would look terrible. Better yet share it with the web… I wonder how much people will like your idea? I bet it wont be as innovative.

  70. Ángel Says:

    i’m cumminnnnng!
finally! waited for this skate since the first leaked infos ’bout the deshi carbon were released.
    so gonna get these!
but will probably wait for the white ones.

  71. Jamie Says:

So sick! Might have to pick these up.

  72. NIICE Says:

OH, fuck yeah smart “HA” !! just because you don’t like Metallica you should start working on music world.. so you will be producing your own Mp3 in no time!! When you don’t like something, it just doesn’t mean you can do better. i dont like Van Gogh either if it means something for ya…

I like carbon 2s.. but take this as an advise and don’t be stupid wasting your time hating the fking haters! Let they make our sport look like crap alone..

  73. god Says:
