Tom Hyser : working on a new skate (?)

quoting Tom Hyser Bio Summer ‘07
What kind of skates are you using?
I have Xsjados that I use most of the time. I also skate a secrete proto-type of another brand when no one is around. Hopefully this skate will be out in late ’08. It kills me that I can’t skate it every time I skate.
Thanks Bordeaux.

Another boring news item from the Hyser machine. Build a load of hype, then probably never release anything worthwhile. If this skate wont be released until the end of 08, i dont want to hear about it until the end of 08. Thanks

I’m waiting for the pics/sketches to become public…
July 12th, 2007 at 8:18 am
and where does it say that HE is working on the skate? could be any company
July 12th, 2007 at 8:25 am
I thought hyser was with rollerblade now.
July 12th, 2007 at 8:26 am
possably K2 prototypes? like the ones that Todd Bluebaugh ( or however you spell it) was using at KC indoor the other day?
July 12th, 2007 at 8:38 am
Didn’t Hyser invent the first K2 Fatty’s?
Fiziks were flawed, but I put that up to a lack of financing that prevented him from developing more prototypes and then revising the design after release.
From a design perspective the Epochs were brilliant though, so I will keep my eyes on this one. He’s probably one of the few people other than Coburn that could get my interest.
Though, Tom, we need open communication. After waiting 3-4 years for Epochs and having nothing materialize, and not even a public announcement of a cancellation to show for it, your credibility from a business standpoint is pretty poor. Unless you want to have this skate subject to mockery based on the Epoch blunder I think you should deal with this more professionally this time around. If you think this ‘late ‘08′ is complete bullshit and utterly unattainable, tell us, because I like optimism but I hate bullshit. If this is another Epoch I really won’t care what you have to contribute to this industry anymore.

Hey, Sawboss, what if you STFU !!!
K2skates = that’s him
Suspension frames = that’s him
Flat freestyle frames (like the Kizer elements that are just being released) = that’s him.
New skate that will kick your ass ? Well that’s probably him too.
Just give credit & respect where it’s due, for fuck’s sake !
July 12th, 2007 at 9:12 am
he is working for RB now, so new RB skate
July 12th, 2007 at 9:19 am
No doubt, Tom Hyser is a genious at inventing revolutionary ideas for skating, he just doesn’t have the money to pull through and finish his ideas. Obviously, if he’s skating a prototype skate, he was picked up by one of the major skate brands, probably to have him pitch in some ingenious ideas for the skate. I’m sure what he’s created is going to be good, but the question is, which brand is he working for now?
July 12th, 2007 at 9:21 am
Oh, that answers my question. So rollerblade’s going to have an insane skate next year, I can’t wait.
July 12th, 2007 at 9:34 am
haha, oh yeah! let the hype begin!
July 12th, 2007 at 9:54 am
That’s funny, grommets like you build the hype, and then blame it on Hyser’s fault…
July 12th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
See. Now skatepile is associating with freestyle rolling. This is what the industry needs, a purge of worthless haters who never deserved to be skating. I don’t want to show up at a skate park only to find some stereotype whores asking me how many houses I had to rob to get my skates or if I considered putting down the drugs and start going to school along with the jocks, emo fags, and punk rock cockriders.
July 12th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
well if some1 creates all the hype then dissapoints, who else can u blame.
July 12th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
damn read ths entire conversation… half of yall are “bitchbitchbitch/complain”
Tom Hyser is creative genius, and most of yall have used something he designed at some point or another.
Cmon Tom! Show us some pics of your new skate!

To inform ty about Epoch, in case he’s missed the numerous posts and Tom’s Rolling Revival interview about who’s in charge of Epoch; Tom has not been involved in the production of Epoch frames for some time now. Scott and Kevin Raser took over all aspects of getting Epoch on shelves, and unfortunately, they don’t have any other companies for people to shit on because they aren’t getting Epoch out. Do people hate on the designer of a concept car they really want produced when the car company doesn’t put it out? No, they get upset with the company responsible. Please transfer your hate to the Rasers, so even though it’s not worth it, at least it’s in the right place.
July 12th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
Johnny kebab, there’s no such thing as a flat freestyle frame you fucking idiot.
July 12th, 2007 at 3:42 pm
Oh yeah ? How would you call a frame you skate flat but with a huge freestyle h-block at the same time ?
Kizer are lucky that Tom invented the concepts they are now making frames from…
July 12th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
First of all I have seen this skate many times and it is something you can’t imagine. the kid at the top has no idea what he is talking about. Epoch’s werent realeased because of the Raser twins. Anyway the skate is sick and you will all be skating it one day.
July 12th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
sawboss and ty,
I agree with you. I dont like Hyser much. Im pretty sure his “special secret boot” is really just Rollerblades new TRS line up next year. Sorry to burst your bubble, but good luck at your disappointment next year. Unless RB releases a completely new boot, cuff and liners, then the skate certainly WILL NOT be revolutionary. The only new thing we know for sure that they’ll release is their new frame and backslide area. That’s about it.
July 12th, 2007 at 6:13 pm
his frames failed miserably…..so will his skates
July 12th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
it’s 2 different types of setups. You can’t combine the 2 of them. Freestyle is riding 2 wheels on each skate with a hugh groove, flat is 4 down. Fucking rookie.
July 12th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
well one thing is for certain…
he definitely cannot back unity
July 12th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
awww man, FUCK the anticipation!
why couldn’t he just wait with the “news” untill the skates were ready?
didn’t he learn anything from epoch?
with that said, tom hyser for president!
i love that guy.
July 12th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
You are all fucking stupid. Unfortunatley I can’t tell you anything about the skate, but you are complete dumbasses.
July 12th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
well thanks for enlightening us, you’re awesome!
July 12th, 2007 at 11:07 pm
Tom Hyser is sick! Please pay respect to him. Fiziks are the best frames. were the best =(
July 13th, 2007 at 4:12 am
i bet it has something to do with those trs there were pics of last week or something. the first thing i thought when i saw the frames on those was epoch so i think he may have something to do with those
July 13th, 2007 at 4:50 am
nice
July 13th, 2007 at 5:35 am
BorisG, you are stupid. Hyser didn’t even come up with Fiziks on his own. Someone else came up with it and Hyser had to pay royalty to use the technology. Why the hell do you think Fiziks went outta business? It’s cause dumbass Hyser didn’t wanna pay royalty fees cause he has no business sense whatsoever.
July 13th, 2007 at 7:51 am
WOW! WHO GIVES A SHIT. I’m pretty sure they mean 3008 too.
July 13th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Guys, you all need to realize there’s a difference between tom’s old inventions and this new skate. Fiziks died before a second design could be made, and epoch frames never hit the market because Tom did not have the money to continue them. Now, with Tom hyser working for rollerblade, he isn’t going to be working out of his own budget, but rather from a much bigger account, because rollerblade has a lot more money then Tom. That being said, unless rollerblade goes out of business, or decides to discontinue TRS (both of which are highly unlikely) these new skates are undoubtedly going to come out next year. Everyone just hates on hyser, it’s not him that decides to decieve everyone, it’s his budget, which is no longer be a problem.
July 13th, 2007 at 9:57 am
well…..can we just stop this…. ir did tom find out how to combine skateboarding with inline skating?….what is there to develop our skates?… new skins?… or suspension boot? ooooo i know…. new grindplates?.. you think?… which reminds me those sentae aluminum grindplates was a stupid idea….
July 13th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
tom hyser is louis theroux’s long lost brother.
July 13th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
yes.
and FUCK YES! to what eric said, i just hope it’s true cause i love Rollerblade™.
July 15th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
Thanks for all the crazy gossip. It’s funny to see what people dream up when they don’t know the facts. The Epoch frame design was sold to Scott Raser. To this day, I am not sure why Scott failed to produce Epoch frames. I don’t own Epoch. Fiziks was the most expensive frame to manufacture, the cost to make it was 5 times as much as a Ground Control frame. With the size of the industry, it did not make business sense to invest more into making Fiziks. Yes, I did pay a royaly to make Fiziks. I also worked with annother designer on Fiziks, it was not all my design. You will just have to judge my next product when it comes out. I’ve always made proto-type skates to ride, it’s just something I enjoy doing. Hopefully this will explain what’s really going on. Let’s keep rolling positive and fun.

Lack of respect seems to be a common thing in rollerblading.
Fucking grommets.
August 11th, 2007 at 8:18 pm
Tom,
Keep it up, man. Fiziks rode well and I wish you could have continued to develop them. Thanks for supporting rolling and innovating hardware, and good luck with the new skate. If you ever find an old fiziks shirt with the frame on the lower side, let me know on any of the messageboards because those were sweet.
