Wow, cant believe that was 12 years ago. Tim Ward was hardcore, those rail transfer were nuts considering the size of soul space on skates back then. This section reminds me of other videos we would watch daily like Mr. Mooseknuckle and Fast Shoes. It takes me back to being a kid and unbuckling my cuffs on the original Majestics and Fattys just to get super low steezed royales! lol
Thanks for the flashback, makes me proud to have been skating so long (1995).
This guy is amazing. Those times were great! Aussie rollerblading, Anthony, Mora, Clarke, etc. If that guy had the same age (in 1996) today, he would kick Aragon’s, Haffey’s, etc asses! With those 1996 skates… he was such a good rollerblader. This is the best sport ever!
The sick part is that this was way before Tim got real good at skating. If you watch his later clips and sections you can see that his style got better and he stopped stepping onto rails. We need more kids nowadays that can skate street and vert just like Tim Ward.
Yeh that was mental back in 1996, best stuff coming out of australia, Blake Dennis was the next big thing from Auz after Tim, but yeh it does remind me of how I was skating in 97, it felt cool doing tap backslides on little handrails hahaha now kids just laugh at you if you skate like that, but the important thing is that we were having the same rush from doing the small tricks as the kids are now doing the huge tricks.
he was a hero back then, sick vert skating and so many signature tricks way ahead his time and those roces skates hadn’t even a soul plate! I got some roces vert with alu frames in 1996 and a soul was kinda mental with them ;-), now I’m happy to own some roces impalas with blue alu frame almost in new shape something to show what it was like back then.
does anyone remember it was at a NISS competition he did a hudge 270 lukang to desater topsoul. THAT SHIT WAS HOT! i think it was on a VG dont remember what VG.
Damn! That was awsome, there’s something that seems so much more signifigant about these early clips. So much energy, pushing the boundries… just awsome.
nice… very nice. brought back good memories… hell, i still got my fr shirt, haha! got lots of old school shizz that kids today would be like “what the hell is this?” would be like a history lesson. love the old skate vids!
Hi guys, Just wanted to say that im am really touched buy some of the responses and reading them gives me goosebumps. I cant tell you how awesome this feels and all the rest of it. Thanks for the kind words but Im really a alien from the galactic centre of the universe, the black hole.
Na, seroisly guys, im just joking about the alien thing. I thought id add that for a bit of confusion and something different.
For anyone that doesnt believe that I a tim for whatever reason that some might come up with. Send me a email timward@emesce.com and ill reply yes, it was me….
anyway thanks, im glad i inspired some people and want to let you know that you can do it to..!
That huge 270 lui kang topsoul from one of those old school NISS competitions was still one of the craziest things ever attempted on rollerblades. I remember looking at that picture in Daily Bread forever wondering how it was ever possible to even think about trying to spin to a disaster grind. Good to hear that he is still skating.
So amazing. Outspin backslide and unitys way ahead of it’s time. Amazing mixture of vert talent with street. What happened to that kind of versatility in rollerblading? More of these sections and less grind box edits!!!
Dude. Tim. Seriously one of the true pioneers of the sport. I mean seriously some of the rails and transfers he was doing on those skates is so fucking hard. 1″1/4″ soul space in the front with no heel soul at all, before UFS, and the sweet thing is when you break in the soul area real good you have the nice metal rivets which are great for sticking on alluminum square rails and fracturing a coulple ribs at the bottom of the stairs. Soul and Spirit of Skating. Tim Ward.
Na, jonni pollard lives in Sydney, Im in melbourne. Although i do speak to him every now and then on facebook. Cal Mulvey is now becoming a TV star, he was a actor in the contraversial “underbelly” tv series.
Tim is one of the best, nicest guys to ever skate…. The amount of fun times we had together (Germany, Tim you know what i’m talking about) Tim was doing TTS’s on vert in 95.. way too far ahead of his time…..
Also coming from someone who travelled and toured with him, everyone, absolutey every will tell you their favourite skater of all time is Tim… Everyone from Jon Bergeron, Eric Schrijn to Mike Opalek and more…
Yeah, Arlo,B-love, Rene, Fry,and that poser Edwards all suck too!
I wanna see more “edits” of Mikel. Then the world would “know rollerblading”. Laughing out fucking loud!!!
back then.. aussies were one of the best… but now most videos you see are from us and europe.. even pros are from europe now.. do any main companies have australian pros?? i don’t think so..
“…I think it is the carefree nature of Australians that is to blame for the fact that they no longer dominate the rollerblading world like they did in the past, but they are just busy having fun together to bother proving themselves to the rest of us.”

Oh and also a new park has opened up here in melbourne australia and has motivated me to start skating again… after 10 years of a break.
Here is a clip of me doing a double backflip at the park recently, I have always wanted to learn them and thought now is the time.
