The Sticks: Quick Montage
I was making a new UK video called ‘The Sticks’ (My last video was called ‘Premonition’) but its all fallen apart due to Uni Work, so I have just made a quick montage with some of the clips not used in other videos.
The footage is largely from 2007-2008 and the video features:
Guy Crawford, Lee Mainland, Dan Tillett, Zak Buys, Paul Bates, Dan Ives, Sam Cooper, Ben Sach, Andrew Halls, Matt Cripps, Adam Galwas & Rob Nunn.
Thanks Ben Sach.

May 12th, 2008 at 4:58 pm

May 12th, 2008 at 5:35 pm

May 12th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Nice edit nice edit. I miss the Brit scene. I thoroughly enjoyed Premonition when it came out.

Jo jo hit the nail right on the head, I’m so glad someone ells’ can see that there is so much better out there than what the conference have settled for and are now overly celebrating. Although you have forgotten that as well as being the best editor out there, Ben is also of one the best and most creative filmers as well. Its and absolute crime that “the sticks” have fallen through and that Ben hasn’t had the chance to better what he did in premonition(and believe me he can do a hundred times better now) Everyone needs to get off they asses n go skate with Ben so he can even have the opportunity to better premonition. At the end of the day i think it’s fair to say if not the best he is one of the best uk editor n videographer ! but without rollerbladers to film its nothing more than a massive waste of one of the best uk talents in that area, and that a f*cking shame.

Great edit Ben, nice to see a snapshot of the uk scene i reckon. Some great skating in there and looks like Guy Crawford can jump some! Keep up the good work.
May 12th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
what the fuck! that edit was great yes!
but why a need for an attack at matty watky and conference
also from what ben said, if conference had offered him the chance to go on tour with them and film it, he wouldnt have been able to because of uni work
May 12th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
/\ Correct, its not the lack of skaters or anything like that, its just me putting Uni work 1st
May 12th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
This edit’s the fucking shit. A style of edit like no one else at the mo’. When i watch this, a nice laid back persona reveals a great sense of fun and enthusiasm!! Not just a bunch of clips, filmed poorly, whacked over some baited out shit.. thought, time and effort shines through, unlike anything ive seen from conference.. LOVE the edit Ben, good to see someone making skating look how it should be percieved, and appreciated… FUN!
May 12th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Some really nice filming here, Ben!
May 12th, 2008 at 11:33 pm

This oozes the uk scene…
More i watch, more i like
I say you should sort your uni work out, then get all over some mental video for wintertime…
I really liked the vibe of Premonition, i want more, a lot of people want more!

i don’t like the music … it’s so melancholic.
good tricks!
The filming without the wide angle is really really good !!!
May 13th, 2008 at 10:16 am
That was such a sick edit
Guy Crawford FTW!
May 13th, 2008 at 10:55 am
there seemed to be a little to much post-trick-zoom-in-on-the-obstacle business goin on for my liking..
but constructive critisism aside, neat lil edit!
May 13th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Someone mentioned the feel of this edit, and it does feel good, reminds me of the Frenchy Fries edits, where it’s a bunch of cool people doing nice tricks with good music! You cant beat it really. Makes me want to skate loads this summer…
May 13th, 2008 at 9:31 pm

nice edit man!
May 14th, 2008 at 3:23 am
That was well sick! These edits that you make Ben are just so chill and refreshing. Keep it up.

To be honest I dont understand what everybody is going on about. I genuinly felt it was quite dull. Nicely edited and filmed but nothing exciting. And Im so tired of hearing everybody jump on the ‘hate matt watky’ bandwagon. He makes edits to get you juiced. Who cares if he uses a commercial track or not, why must we be so pretentious with skating. This ‘need’ to find underground tracks and bands no one has heard of is annoying. Rollerbladers are trying far to hard at the moment to try and find an identity. If everyone would just be honest with themselves the sport would be so much healthier and not get so much hate from everybody. We as rollerbladers appear to have such a case of small man syndrome within the extreme sports network!
May 14th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
if you look back at bens huge back cat edits then you will see that he has never been about the “need’ to find underground tracks ” there is no beef nor hate for mat, but more for how the conference and every one els is celebrating him as if he is the single most amazing videographer and edited that these shores have too offer and it simply isn’t true, what he’s does is good(don’t get me wrong the guy has a basic ability) but there are so many other filmers n editors out there who deserve the spot more than him, n could make the conference and skating look a dam sight better. and this is not about underground tracks vs. mainstream! mat uses shit, rinsed music! It’s just a fact.

Thank god that was never released.
