January 26th was a special day for skaters in Tokyo. Over 80 skaters gathered for the premire party for the new DVD “theStem”. For the party we had DJs playing old school skate video songs and VJs playing classic skate videos from the Hoax to VG4 not to forget pictures from the well known skate photographer omocomo. Skaters old and new gathered to witness the birth of the new generation of the skaters to put Tokyo on the map once again.
The cover of the DVD was done by Shimpei Kimura, featuring the legendary skate spot in Tokyo, Ukima park(R.I.P) and the faces of the SKB crew and the second generation Tokyo skaters. The title “theStem” resembles our position in the history of skating and the mission to bridge the generation gap.

ironically, the cover has the same touch as ICONS. i think holding video premieres are a valuable way of giving back to the local scene
