of all the spots in new york, a skatepark and a double 5 set?
September 24th, 2012 at 8:58 am
Yeah, I’m not sure if the term ‘street’ should be applied to this comp…
September 24th, 2012 at 9:26 am
Overal a good comp with a good crowd, Hope Pro will support all the Street Comp, To the haters, Why Hate? If you think you better? try organize the comp with 1st place $5000! Have A Nice Day and Keep Rolling Til Die…
September 24th, 2012 at 9:40 am
they are skating a trashcan ! 5000 $ !?
September 24th, 2012 at 9:51 am
last year was so good to….why? this is abysmal.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:12 am
fucking lameeeeee
September 24th, 2012 at 10:53 am
shitty final spot, yet cool comp
September 24th, 2012 at 11:06 am
Are you guys serious? maybe you guys don’t realize how hard it is to get an event like this approved by the city. Especially when in there minds we are nothing but some punk bladers that are more than likely to cause trouble. Big-ups to Billy O’neil, the sponsers, and everyone else that was involved.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:40 am
They said it will be more real street this year?! Made me little disappointed, but nevertheless everyone’s having fun.
September 24th, 2012 at 11:54 am
It looks like a good event, but calling it a Street Invite makes no sense. The entire competition took place in a skatepark.
September 24th, 2012 at 12:30 pm
I’m from NYC, and it’s super hard to get a permit for any type of a extreme sport event. If a crowd like was to hit up a regular skate spot cops NYPD would come out in arrest everyone. It not like middle america or Cali where this type of stuff goes on in the coolest stop and the public won’t be calling the cop nor the local news station to find what’s going on. However shot out to Billy and the sponsor who put up the Money for this comp. and also to all the local skaters who skated this comp. So people please before you start talking shit about NYC invitational come to NY and try to skate street spot and you will find how much it is a head ache, or your end up with a ticket or in the percent. Over it was a dope comp happy to all the pro to come to the Big NY to show off their talent. And to all you hater please think before to type all your dumb ass comments.
September 24th, 2012 at 12:30 pm
Come on, you get people like CJ, Fabio Enes, Lomax [just to name a few] to come all the way to the states to skate a fucking 2×5 stair set?
The spot selection didn’t do anyone justice.
Last year’s contest was so sick, but this year the spots sucked.
September 24th, 2012 at 12:31 pm
STREET???
you had the best skaters from around the world fly in to skate a fucking trash can at a little baby park!!!
if you can’t organize something better then that in NYC, then fuck NYC and have a decent comp somewhere else
don’t matter if you have $5mil in prize money, that was just shit
i’ve seen p-rail comps run better
using industry clout to make this pile a premier event takes blading backwards
anyone associated with organizing or (lack of) promoting this should be fucking ashamed
big ups to the skaters for making the best of it
September 24th, 2012 at 12:50 pm
i would of been pissed if i came from another state/country
September 24th, 2012 at 12:50 pm
how the fuck do u throw a pro skating event at a skateboard park
September 24th, 2012 at 1:16 pm
Sick comp and UK/lomax 3rd place gyeahhhh but the makeshift street format was the coolest thing about this comp?!
September 24th, 2012 at 1:36 pm
The comp was better at the beginning. But it is alot harder to organize an event in NYC. Everyone was getting autographs from the pros and we hardly get to see them out here in new york. Congrats to Bolino, even though bailey should have won 1st place.
The comp was great to get all the people at coleman(usually mostly wood pushers) hype about rollerblading and give the youngs skaters motivation to stick to rollerblading and get better.
Also, Demetrious George landed a farve up a rail and gaped into a ramp dropping back into the park. That should have been in this edit.
September 24th, 2012 at 1:45 pm
The spots in these contests are getting easier. I think I could have done some shit on that last one. I couldn’t have in the NYC contests from 2006 and 07. Everyone is turning into scared girls lol. Still I liked the 540 onto that little ledge from Bolino he deserved the win.
September 24th, 2012 at 2:28 pm
This how we do it in Poland:
http://vimeo.com/43724829
Just skip to 01:30, cause the first spot is lame. Real street competition, no big prizes, only best tricks!
September 24th, 2012 at 2:40 pm
Sooo this is the end of rollerblading right ? There is no point of gathering that many pros if it is not to entertain the crowd. Nobody gives a fuck about the 5000$, it’s all about the show, that’s the reason why we travel so far and show up to competitions. I agree fuck NYC if you can’t have a decent comp there. I think the organisers forgot what rollerblading is about, we’re not in it for the cash that’s for sure. Thank’s for bringing rollerblading to a lower level, anyone who thinks that comp was sick is participating into killing this sport.
September 24th, 2012 at 4:11 pm
seriously…seriously??????
September 24th, 2012 at 4:31 pm
Last spot was a really bad selection, fair enough they may have had to get a permit or whatever to skate it, but they could have even stook a rail down the first set of steps to get some proper skating going, fuck all tricks that can be done on a double 5 set apart from gap it, disaster into the curb which hardly anyone did, or kick the bin like a wanker on the way down. Id be offended if id travelled a long distance to end up skating something like that as the finals spot. Fair play to Fish though for organising such a large competition, though would have been great if they stuck to last years sort of obstacles.
September 24th, 2012 at 4:32 pm
*NYC Invitational
NOT
NYC Street Invitational (false advertisement)
September 24th, 2012 at 4:33 pm
Maybe it wasn’t really street but my god ppl! The skating was amazing! Sooo many good skaters and amazing tricks!! Plus a $5000 1st prize!! :O
Loved the edit and every1 killed it! Bailey was amazing!! And Bolino’s 540 to roll down the ledge :O WTF!?!
September 24th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
comp looked pretty tame. NY comps used to be legendary :/ did anybody get a good look at the prototypes CJ was skating?
September 24th, 2012 at 4:40 pm
and i wonder why i stay away from everyone and skate dolo nowadays… if i wanted to hear bitching and shit talking ,i would just get married twice to anyone one of ya’ll momz. am from the NY and you cant skate nowhere without be kicked out, bitched at or cops called on ya ass…let alone make an event ,this is new york city …not the rest of the U.S. i support any event that bring a shit load of skaters together ,especially those who carry the future of this sport to see some of the top pros. so fuck ya’ll ,suck a dick while jumping off a bridge.
September 24th, 2012 at 4:40 pm
cj:s sebas(?) look usable :)
September 24th, 2012 at 4:42 pm
If NYC thinks that rollerbladers aren’t welcome then it sounds like the event should be moved away from NYC
September 24th, 2012 at 5:15 pm
That made me want to buy a skateboard
September 24th, 2012 at 5:15 pm
^filip
Yeah they were coverd up with duct tape so no one leaks how they look. I asked this one guy who had a pair of them on to ( he was with cj ) when they were coming out. He said around winter, maybe december. They looks really sleak, probably the slimmest boot I have ever seen next to carbons.
^anon
They should’nt move it out of NYC, they should just do it like last year where it was fucking EPIC. Its the only major comp in NYC where all the skaters here get to see the pros.
If anything they should promote next years event as way better than this one, *or apologize for how unorganized and tame it was. I overheard Brian Aragon say it was just really unorganized. It was still cool to see all the pros for the first time though.
September 24th, 2012 at 5:19 pm
That contest was an AMAZING time.
You idiots should be giving props to the fact that there was a contest at all. After both the original location(brooklyn) and Queens location was pulled out from under the rug of the organizers at the last minute they still put on an sick event, with a permit, that was extremely entertaining to those in attendance. Most heads from different states or countries were more than juiced to be visiting the epic city of New York for a skate comp. In fact Nick Lomax was sooooo juiced about the NYC vibe and especially winning $1500 for third place. Hating on that is whats bringing blading down.
September 24th, 2012 at 5:35 pm
WTF was that?? I thought it was a street comp???
September 24th, 2012 at 6:22 pm
why wasnt aragon in finals
September 24th, 2012 at 6:24 pm
gap 540 to fakie roll by bolino was crazzzzy
September 24th, 2012 at 6:47 pm
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA
September 24th, 2012 at 6:52 pm
It sucks that the Queens school bailed out on the permit last minute. Coleman park is fun though
September 24th, 2012 at 7:12 pm
I understand i’s hard to organize comps in NYC but this was the worst final spot ever in a real street comp. If this is all you can get DON’T organize it. This really was an insult to the pros that turned up to compete, espessially the ones from overseas.
September 24th, 2012 at 7:52 pm
Shit spots compared to last year.
But hyped for those that won. skated hard from what I could see.
September 24th, 2012 at 8:39 pm
What queens school was it supposed to be at and Aragon was in the finals he just stopped skating once they kept jumping the stairs
September 24th, 2012 at 8:45 pm
someone please tell Lomax to NEVER ever do a stale grab again.
September 24th, 2012 at 8:58 pm
yh respect for that stale grab haha
Jon Jon smacked it as per usual. Sickest skater!
September 24th, 2012 at 9:18 pm
So many pros in one spot ! Looks like a great time :)
Yeah it wasn’t really street and yah that spots kind of sucked but the skating was really high level and showed what rollerbladers can do even with tiny lil skateboard like elements.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:24 pm
COMP WAS A BLAST; AS US DETROITERS HAD A GREAT TIME.
BILLY O’NEIL IS THE MAN.
THANK YOU, ROLLERBLADING.
September 24th, 2012 at 10:27 pm
let em throw em self off the stairs
September 24th, 2012 at 11:07 pm
well at the end of the day you still live in poland and we live in the greatest city in the fucking world faggot.
great comp big ups to billy for bringing world class pros to a huge rollerblading market, cause you know we sell skates here, more then your shit town.
big ups to the girl in the blouse perm and red skates, showing all the dudes that girls can skate too.
big ups the victor callender, you know he’s fucking laughing inside after this one.
big ups to the nypd for not arresting everyone pissing on the streets smoking and drinking throughout the park.
and last but not least big ups to all the haters we can throw a street comp at a park and still have a better vibe than all your shit contests …….when everyday people and skateboards stop to watch and give bladers props we did something right
September 24th, 2012 at 11:39 pm
I think it’s hard to organize a comp (whatever the comp) but why doing this in NYC if it’s too complicated with cops and tralala…Riders come only for the money…??? I know that NYC is more than money (not only fo rollerblading) so if rollerbladers can prove it, do it…for the moment that kind of comp don’t desserve NYC and roller, and if it’s true that it’s hard to skate in the streets nowadays in NYC…I pity you guys who live there
September 25th, 2012 at 12:22 am
Its NOT hard to skate the streets of NYC, its HARD to skate the streets of NYC with 500+ people.
September 25th, 2012 at 1:18 am
how many people actually showed up i bet close to 400 and i don’t think any of the 400 knew until about a week prior where they were heading
September 25th, 2012 at 3:04 am
Saw the comp. Aragon made it to the finals….which was a bad spot to begin with. Once Aragon saw people just gapping the steps he stopped skating. Reason? Cause it was a horrible “finals spot”. But with hearing that the original spots bailed out; they really did a great last minute job with the comp. just glad to see soooo many pros. I feel bad for my man CJ from Australia. 24hrs flying and waiting in airports for that! Sorry man. Please come back to NYC when u can. Hope next years comp works out better.
September 25th, 2012 at 5:20 am
Yuck!!! Beyond boring. I kept holding my breath waiting for someone to at least fishbrain the entire square rainbow ledge from flat.. it never happened and sadly it would’ve been the best trick of the comp…
September 25th, 2012 at 5:36 am
fuck the dude at 6:35 killing the shot of dalnas doing a fake 7 true mizou
September 25th, 2012 at 6:31 am
there is no such thing as a skateboard park, you made that up in your heads
September 25th, 2012 at 6:34 am

September 25th, 2012 at 6:34 am

September 25th, 2012 at 6:35 am

September 25th, 2012 at 6:35 am
conspiracy at large
September 25th, 2012 at 7:59 am
Where is last yr’s champ?
September 25th, 2012 at 9:28 am
It is fair to say that hes the only one in the city who has gone to the lengths of putting it on, and its a great stage what hes created…its just a shame when it came down to it that it didn’t show us at our best…especially american rollerbladers, who are fucking insane. Last years was amazing but its obvious he wanted to take it from under an isolated bridge into the light. Keep going with it Billy but make the spots more challenging for the pro’s and don’t rely on mushroom blading. Kevin Yee should have been banned from the comp btw, or arrested.
September 25th, 2012 at 11:50 am
Personne n’en parle mais le mec il a un bonnet sur le palto alors qu’il a l’air de faire chaud…
September 25th, 2012 at 6:09 pm
i dont enjoy hating online, because im sure it was fun at the event. But there was no street. The set was the entrance to the skatepark. Dont call it something it isnt
September 25th, 2012 at 7:33 pm
Really like how the comp turned out despite the last minute changes. More/better organization and it can be as great as the first NYCSI next time around. Also what’s the name of the song that was used for the second round section?
September 25th, 2012 at 7:34 pm

NYC can’t have a real street comp… shame…”but we have money for pros who want to play”…
And if you can’t have a 400 people crowd, why don’t go few kilometers away to do it on spots where pros who come from far can show their talent!!!! basic rules…???
September 25th, 2012 at 11:14 pm
THAT final spot, so huge. now all curb skating hate will stop. huge success! j/k
September 26th, 2012 at 6:06 am
bahaha this is what rollerblading has become, little lame obstacles. Go watch old IMYT in NYC for what reak street comps were. Murda ftw, not this garbage.
September 26th, 2012 at 6:11 am
a step above XGames Mini but Americans must feel embarrassed spending $5000 on this. Come to France. We know how to organize competition and draw thousands of poeple. But be prepared to skate against the BET rollerbladers in the World.
September 26th, 2012 at 3:16 pm
People showed up and had a fun day. Just because there wasn’t a 30 stair rail is irrelevant.
It’s about getting people together and having fun, NO???
There was a great showcase of talent on the day and I hope it inspired people to skate more.
