Temptation Island

Temptation Island is a U.S. reality television program broadcast on the Fox network (and adapted in several other countries) in which several couples agreed to live with groups of singles of the opposite sex, in order to test the strength of their relationships.
It seems that a pro-blader entered the tv game called temptation island. Meet John, 25 years old, Pro Inline Skater from Minneapolis, MN. Link

Well his face isn’t so familiar, so feel free to share if you have more informations about John! Thanks Rando !
update :
It seems that the skater is John Robinson, an old skater featured on the early issues of VideoGroove Dvds (vg10-).

September 12th, 2006 at 8:29 pm
John was Minnesota back in the day, if you watch VG10 and maybe VG9.
September 12th, 2006 at 8:52 pm
He is not lying, he was a professional rollerblader and the tv stations keep running with it. He was also on Blind Date or Elimidate a few years ago.
September 12th, 2006 at 9:13 pm
hah he’s always doing these awful dating shows, I remember the elimidate one where he brags about being a pro rollerblader. He was pretty good back in the day, though I wouldn’t call him a pro even back then (anyone remember steve smith his friend from minn. who was fuckin sick, had a mini view in VG3?). I guess calling yourself a pro gets you places on these reality shows…

September 12th, 2006 at 11:47 pm
Good on the guy those girls are hot
September 13th, 2006 at 12:48 am
To those who don’t know who he is, he is one of the most influential skaters to come from Minnesota around the times of Scribe Industries, Steve Thomas & Shane Nelson. in their prime. He was lacing sweatstances on rails in Harvesting the Crust (1995) around the time that the only other person doing sweaties was Andy Kruse on a ledge in Hoax 2.

September 13th, 2006 at 12:42 pm
Oh yes that name rings a bell now, John Robinson… always wondered if he was related to Shaun Robinson. What is Shaun doing these days?! I liked his nosepick 540’s.
Glad to see I have made it to the New page once again! Cheers koubis

Thats sick… I have watched friends re-runs so much and never noticed!
Joey used a Senate bag on the show, and also there was a senate sticker on the fridge in joey and chandlers apartment.
Also the lighting guy or someone that worked on set was wearing a “Super computer robot” t-shirt… this was in one of the behind the scene shows.
Lol… still cracks me up, I guess it was the 90’s after all.
September 13th, 2006 at 12:56 pm
haha… ok just flicking through my DB mag “issue 20″ from 1997 and yup he is on the “contents” page. He is Throwing a “that grab” on dirks.

Idiots. Jon Robinson did shit 10 years ago you still can’t do today. Watch Harvesting the Crust, and I dare anyone talk shit on Jon. Jon was a pioneer of rollerblading show some respect.
September 13th, 2006 at 3:27 pm
john robinson used to kill it. look back to your roots. watch hoax 2, and some other older movies from that era. good times, good times.
September 13th, 2006 at 4:41 pm
Ha man, skating has been around for quite some time now… All the old guys are being forgotten. Pop in VG 2-3, Hoax 2 or Harvesting the Crust sometime if you can find it. It’s amazing how far things have come.
September 13th, 2006 at 6:10 pm
My hero.
September 13th, 2006 at 6:33 pm
Yes it is all good he was raw back in the day
but that does give him no right to say he is currently a pro rollerblader just to
try and get some poon. He could say… retierd pro rollerblader to get poon even tho he wasen’t
he ripped shit but was never pro get over it
September 13th, 2006 at 7:51 pm
haaaaaaaaaah
September 14th, 2006 at 12:02 am
John is the man. He was one of the first people I met my first summer at Woodward. I think it was VG Metro, he was on the cover, for you noobs. I think he was also the Inline director at Lake Owen if I’m not mistaken, and I think he’s run those minnesota street contests in the past. He’s a nice guy.
September 14th, 2006 at 2:43 am
yeh fair enough, I’m not a noob… I have been skating for a long time… but the show only gave his first name. I don’t know the guy by face. But yes once his full name was discovered… thats when I knew who he was.
September 14th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
By the way,,its Shaun Robertson..the guy that nosepick 540s and does crazy crazy gaps….the original Scribe guys…Jon robinson..He was good back in the days..Man…for those who dont know who he is… thats a shame..I wonder if any of you guys remembers Ryan Jacklone?
September 14th, 2006 at 2:27 pm
Actually, Casey, Jon was pro for Scribe, and also competed in a number of Pro ASA comp, including just a few years ago in Millwaukee. In fact by ASA standards, he’s probably still pro.
So, basically Jon was pro, and you’re just a hater, that will never come close to Jon’s status.
September 14th, 2006 at 4:50 pm
Oh shit that guy was on Elimidate! He was fuckin hilarious! Thats awesome. What a cool thing to keep getting into, reality shows. This guy’s the man!
September 14th, 2006 at 7:37 pm
didn’t ryan jackalone become an addict, that was the rumor in 98.
can rollernews start a what happened to section and people can post updates?
there are so many names…and it’d be a good history lesson for little johnny 5 inch soul spot.
September 14th, 2006 at 8:43 pm

September 15th, 2006 at 8:20 am
I agree with RobF..rollernews should do updates man on people that shaped the scene of rolling in the days like B hardin, Tj webber, Matt mantz, Steve Thomas…Man I still have the issue of Daliy Bread 10 with Marques Thomson doing a royale on the cover….
can anyone say Huston twist?
September 19th, 2006 at 2:42 am
what a fukkin coincidence the swedish pro blader viktor byhr ( he rides for the swedish usd team) he,s like on of the best swedish bladers a bi cocky though but awesome, he was in the swedish temptation island last year, made it pretty far too… hope it doesnt become a trend that would surternly gay up the bladerscene but a wouldn’t worry about that since i saw dave mirra in the real world roadrules on mtv hostin on of the episodes dont know if it was the whole show i dont watch reality shows think their crap. and its like everytime u change the channel u see tony hawk on some kids show gaying the sport up and dont forget about bam margera and all the other tv-whoring skateboarders. soo i think the blader scene is safe for now but stil its an artform that is tsill fighting for its integrety in some parts and we dont need any reality tv pr for fux sakes

Hey this is Jon Robinson. Wow. Someone told me to check this out. Cool. First of all, if anyone is still reading this, thanks for all the support - props. I can’t respond to everything so I’ll try to be succient. I was pro on salary for Scribe, Rollerblade, Simple, Pro-Tec, Third World, and Birth Clothing. I did make a living by just skating for a little over two years. I competed on the “pro tour” for ASA, NISS, and X-Trials (among other contests). On Temptation Island they made me highlight and state I was a “professional rollerblader.” I originally wanted to say freelance writer and bartender but the director thought otherwise. I haven’t skated for almost a year due to an ankle injury - it sucks. Anyone over the age of 21 will realize how the healing process slows with age. I think anyone would jump at the chance to go to a Honduran island (Roatan) for a month at NO COST. I did and am not sorry. It was an experiance I can never replicate. I hope everyone keeps skating. And do it to push yourself both physically and mentally - it lives with you daily. Thanks again to everyone - I love all you guys. Hit my myspace up if you want - robi0318. Skate. Live. Learn.
