It feels weird writing this article on the 5th edition of the RISC (Rouen Indoor Street Contest), because I was actually 10.000 km away during the contest. Weird, not because I don’t know what to say or what happened during this (always) incredible week-end, but simply because I regret not being there. And I sure regret not being able to share all the amazing moments, moments that made this contest so successful and memorable, with my friends for the 5th year in a row.
Created in ’04 to bring the scene together during the winter, and supported by Roll Brothers (R.I.P), the local skate shop, the contest was an instant success. The comp was amazing, people went crazy, parties were memorable (thanks to the cops), Bukette became France’s favorite MC and hotel rooms got destroyed.
Year after year, the crowd went larger, the skating went crazier, and more happy memories were built for everyone. Second edition witnessed a lot of internet drama and the battle “Paris VS France”. Third edition became a battle on the crazy transfer to rail, with Stephane Alfano landing a next level 360 inspin soul to fakie. The fourth edition has seen the reign of Mathias Silhan become unquestionable and recognized by everyone.
