Rollerblade: What is skating? (2015) The Feeling of Floating with Jan Ebbert | Edit by Greg MirzoyanThursday, July 9th, 2015
It is undeniable that Jan Ebbert is one of Europe’s smoothest and technical skaters at the moment. But what defines skating to him?
In this short video made in 4.5 days in Barcelona. Jan explains what kind of feeling skating gives. He talks about the aesthetic vibe he gets when he rolls around or lands a trick that comes to mind.
As a street skater you have a certain perception of urban environments, which create possibilities to do what you love. Watch how Jan skates different spots in Barcelona and listen to his philosophy about skating.

We got to LA pretty late at night and went straight to our hotel. The next morning when we woke up we felt like we had to start with a famous place so we drove straight to Venice Beach!
We skated the bowl for a little while and also in the most eccentric crowd ever, after this we went for a dip and then drove to the center.
We just spent the rest of the day seeking for spots, very tough I should say but we kind of were prepared for this.
The next day Ben Brillante and I planned on going to Hollywood Blvd but first things first we went for a very nice pancake house that we heard good things about, after that we popped by a car wash and went straight to Hollywood, skated the famous boulevard and also the nice areas around.
We called it a day after driving up the hill at that famous view point where we have a great view of the city.
On the third day we still had quite a lot to do to be able to complete an edit. So we focused on the skating and even had to register on a spot directory website to go faster. We even stopped at the spots which were on our way to San Diego.
At the end we skated many different spots and had a great time skating in the sun, next city: San Diego!

Being on Tour for 10 days without really knowing cities has been quite an experience, Ben and I went to the USA for a tour, using our skates to move around the cities and discover the place in our own way.
Starting off in San Francisco, we had a lot of fun skating around the streets since the center isn’t that big for a US city and of course the funniest part was bombing down the hills!
We stayed 3 days in SF and I think the only thing we were not prepared for was the wind (sometimes pretty cold) especially since we came to the states with our summer clothes.
We also got kicked out from the financial district a few times but that’s it, the rest of the time was great and we sure left some polyurethane at the bottom of those hills!
The idea behind this video (and the 3 others which will follow during this month) is to show the travel/adventure as we experienced it ourselves… differently than usual!
Hope you will enjoy this first episode. – Greg.
A little compilation of some clips shot during the last 2 years around the globe. Enjoy!
