How / when was the idea for 4Life born?

JJ: After “WAV3? dropped, I was already thinking about names for our fourth video. Right away, the name “4Life” was brewing in my head. “4Life” became more relevant as time passed. It’s a strong and inspiring title.

IN: To be honest, I am not really sure when it was all born. It was just something that kind of happened, and before we knew it, it was all happening. Now we’re here and in the middle of something that seems to a good thing. So, we’re just kind of taking it all in and seeing what we can do with it. [...]

SO CLEARLY ONE OF THE BEST ROLLERBLADING FILMS OF THE LAST 30 YEARS. HOW LONG WERE YOU FILMING FOR? HOW MUCH TIME DID YOU SPEND CONCEPTUALIZING THE PROJECT? AS FAR AS THE ENERGY THATS BEEN PUT INTO THE PROJECT, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SO MUCH OR PUT SO MUCH INTO A SINGLE FILM YOURSELF?

I started filming for Valo4life a little bit before summer Barcelona 09. That was my first major tour with Valo and everything just kind of happened from there.

I couldn’t say we really spent any time conceptualizing anything, I think its safe to say that it was all fairly organic in a sense. Nothing was ever fully planned, no direction was set, we just kind of did what we thought would be cool.

Than somehow it all came together and it has by far been the most effort I have put into anything dealing with skating. 2 years of my life and time and travels all wrapped up into a one-hour video. [...]
