Because its supposed to look like it was made in the 60s. Remember its filmed on SUPER 8 FILM, which is a motion picture film format released in 1965 by Eastman Kodak. It was a standard in the late 60s until the arrival of 16mm film which most major movies we know from the 70s till 80s were made from. From the mid 80s till now people has moved on to 32mm film and nowadays some are even filmed in 64mm(Gladiator).

100 times better then digital…
2bad that the equipment is so expensive, and its not easy to edit on film…
on digital when you mess up, you can always undo your mistakes… on film once you mess up, youre film is gone…
