Now, Im not a huge Steve Swain fan BUT when he posts an edit of him KILLING park everyone slates him saying he cant skate street. He never claimed street was his forte but he put himself out there and actually did some pretty sick shit. In regards to questioning his position on the Rollerblade team, didnt he finish top ten or something in the WRS? So really, he skates comps, skates them well, and places…why wouldnt they have him on the team? They are smart, they have strong street skaters, strong park skaters and then freaks like Seizmore who can do everything!
However, Steve is an arrogant ‘pro’ sometimes, so some humbling could be good.

He’s clearly better at park, not that I’m holding that against him, I love park skating too. But the edit should be mostly his beastly park skating if that’s his thing, rather than trying to film street clips when he just looks uncomfortable.

ive got to disagree with you guys i thought the skating was pretty nice; the tricks were for the most part fairly difficult, his style was solid as and he looked like he had complete control on every grind. Maybe he wasnt doing 540 sweats on stuff but skating is about more than just nailing huge tricks. He looked at home on street, everything was perfectly held (which i prefer to the “how many switch ups can i fit on a rail approach” and like he enjoyed it and i definetly enjoed watching it more than a lot of edits ive seen on here lately.

Personally I think he should stick to the park, his style is more suited to an environment that has transitions.. That edit didn’t really do anything for me, he definitely loves a sloppy front nugen in it. In order to regain some respect someone should post up a ridiculous line that he laces in UKskate park.. That’ll put a halt on some of the flack that’ll come from this edit.

Mate, if you are going to call Steve an unstylish skater and then use David Sizemore as an example of a stylish skater, you are actually out of this world you are so deluded. If you had said Steve isn’t stylish, compared with a Shane Skowers, Tat Nasu, or Dominic Sagona, then I would be compelled to agree, even though that doesn’t necessarily mate Steve an unstylish skater.
I would rather watch Steve skate, do a nice long grabbed fish brain, than a helmet clad turd doing out of control ungrabbed 900’s.
It’s not the technicality that matters, but the way you do it. Steve is far superior in style.
I would sacrifice a billion David Sizemores for one Feinberg or Latimer. Any one who disagrees with that statement doesn’t know skating.

Please, who started to talk about Sizemore, this is a Steven Swain edit, and it is the first street edit he does. You really think what he needs is some comments like ‘Sizemore is superman, steven is shit’ ?
Could you not just let him know it’s good to see him appreciate street skating, and even if there are better street skaters out there, you have to admit he IS really good at street skating.
All tricks were perfectly laced, I can understand some people don’t like his taste of colour, as for I like the way he dresses and his skates looked pretty stylish !
As for style, ease and technicity, anybody saying Swain hasn’t the three of them never saw him skate.
Just remember this guy is a killer in skate park, he just started street skating and is already good at it, and it’s just a mather of time until he discovers he can be as good in street skating than in park.

I don’t understand what any of the haters have a problem with. Solid held tricks with grabs, good switchups and speed. What exactly are you all looking for? Steve Swain has consistently placed highly in everything he’s ever entered. People talked shit on him for park skating so he put out a solid street edit and still people are gunning for him? Style is a personal thing and Steve’s is solid- instead of saying “Shitty style”, why not truthfully say “not to my taste” or “not american” or simply “I’m jealous, why can’t I be pro instead?”.

Swain is sick at park, no doubt. As far as street goes hes good, but not that good. This edits a washout, too many of the same spots recycled. Spend more time at different spots and perfecting style instead of throwing together a rush job. As for the haters they are always going to hate, especially when the skater in question has a bad attitude and is too ‘big time’ to talk to anyone.

You’ve got nothing but time and skills. When dudes are hating you are doing something right. Not good enough to be a pro?? Maybe you haters have never seen Steven skate in person…. the point is: rolemodels should be pro… people like Morales, Haffey etc. Those are idols. I doubt hes a role model, his style is not distinctive enough

Steve is an old Rehab head, not some new kid that has just popped out of nowhere. He has earnt his sponsorship deal, he has paid enough dues over the years with people constantly hating him. Americans won’t know him, but they are no concern of mine.
So what if he likes to skate park, what is wrong with that? I’d say you were weird if you don’t like to skate park… (unless you’re one of those ’sick street skaters’ who can’t skate park so says it is shit). He can skate street, as he has more than proved in this edit, I’m willing to bet far better than you people that are slagging him off.
Steve is a pleasure to skate with. If you don’t like his style, that’s up to you, no one is forcing you to. Just follow my brilliant example, if you watch an edit on here and don’t like the guys style, click pause and load the next one… Instead of leaving your gay comments, just don’t watch.
ESPECIALLY DON’T LEAVE THEM ANONYMOUSLY… That is the mark of a full on queer pussy.
Not to mention that this edit was made over the period of around two weeks. During the English Winter… Everyone is forced to be a park rat over the Winter in England, it’s either that or don’t skate.
Steve might not be good enough to be pro in your opinion, but he is better than a lot of pros I know, and better than most of the sponsored skaters in this country. I’ll even kiln everybody out and give you examples…

i thought that edit was was sick!.. sure it was pretty generic as far as street skating goes but you cant say the tricks were bad, there was obvious control and he laid down some hammers!
i agree with Frazer that hes alot better than most the sponsored skaters in this country.. but in my experience most the sponsored skaters in this country don’t deserve to be sponsored. i know so many skaters from round here that would shit all over most the major UK teams in style and tricks.. but then again its not what you know its who you know..

just more proof that Rollernews is full of nothing but raw wankers, single handedly you guys are destroying all positive aspects of rollerblading, i’ve been skating with Steve now for the past 2-3 years and everytime i see him skate it is like something i’ve never seen before, this guy is built for rollerblading, throws it down harder than anyone else and his style and solid tricks are flawless. this guy is one in very few who can hold it down, who similar to lomax have a distinctive style, i’ve dedicated almost 12years of my life to rolling and the negative and straight retarded attitudes of some rollerbladers is just forcing me to stop. if rollerbladings going anywhere people need sort their heads out and just stay positive and support the cause or were all just going to seen as a bunch of pretentious cunts and if we really throw it down we all know it comes down to jealously, standard.

let me straighten it out right now.
This is a edit representing rollerblading in a whole. When you put it out on the market that this guy is a PROFESSIONAL rollerblader, it is just a joke. For instance on the one of many Handicap rails, namely the one with the fence on the end, this guy does a fishbrain to forward which is hilarious, a true mizou 3, and a switchup i seen done in 1999, and not only that he didn’t even jump over the fence which would have been the cool part but its a flat rail and you would not see a pro put that in his section.
Furthermore he did a front farf on about 1/4 of a another flat rail and dropped off, dope. His spins out are not good and everyone getting mad when you add sizemore into the mix, well sizemore was the first edit of this “VIDEO” so when you follow sizemore with something like this you start to question the validity of it.
If this guy legit gets paid money to skate that’s bullocks because he just does not deserve it, not only is his skating sloppy but there’s just nothing special about him. Kinda wack in all honesty, he is not on the same level of a Rob G, or a David sizemore, hate david or not but he is still young and has come a very long way skating and style wise and would much rather watch him skate any day of the week
the ones hating on him are probally his english hometown heros, which quite frankly have little taste in what good skating is anyway, and his last tricks in “park” were sloppy.

i still LOVE rollerblading, and so do a bunch of nice people, but try to remember that when you complain about people hating and then end your statement with “YOU BUNCH OF C@#TS,” you’re hating too. we all have to remember that it’s not just the other person who’s guilty, WE ARE ALL GUILTY of being overcritical and even hateful at times (sorry to anyone i’ve ever offended on here). we need to be more positive as a group and more forgiving, and then maybe our culture will grow. as it is, i just see more and more people falling by the wayside…
on a more positive note, steven swain is super sick! he’s got a really athletic style and he gets huge amplitude on 900s and basically any kind of air, and i agree with Tom Hyser that he is WAY more impressive live, but still pretty nice to watch in videos. if he could make his landings stick like velcro, you know like broskow, then he would be the sickest skater ever!!

I can’t understand all the hater, except one think I’m sure about them, their probably not very good at skating and certainly not as good as steve swain.
Each time I go to Bone I enjoyed see him skating. Some of the spot here are really, really hard to skate.

I liked the skating and appreciate Steve’s ability, I think he is good enough to be a pro purely based on his competition skating as for street skating he doesn’t even have to set foot there if he doesn’t want to but he does anyway even though it won’t effect his sponsorship.
Yes I don’t PERSONALLY enjoy his dress sense or skates BUT it’s not worth mentioning because no matter how much I enjoy my specific dress style (musically influenced) it has no bearing whatsoever on skill level.
Anybody that fails to see past what someone is wearing an through to the content of that persons ability is clearly too immature and underdeveloped as a human and a rollerblader to be posting comments.
I vote for some moderation on rollernews with the emphasis on hate comment removal, the true spirited rollerbladers don’t want to hear that drivel.
