Stephane Mosselmans 2006 & 2007 Edit (Frenchyfries)

Frenchyfries posted some nice videos of Stephane Mosselmans:
In fact, most of us rollerbladers would dream of skating just like Mossel does. I think that everyone that has seen him skate, even if it was just once, or a long time ago, still wouldn’t forget to mention him along with Shima or Sagona when it comes to style. His true top souls and technical abilities can put most pros to shame, and he can skate any obstacle with ease, including ankle-high sidewalks, or defeating Stockwell’s flow in Brussels’ bowl.
I listed many pro skaters and rolling idols in this article, and there’s a good reason for that : in my mind, Mossel is definitely up there with the best in our sport. He’s not a superstar, and certainely doesn’t want to be one, but if he was given the opportunity to film a profile with some major videographer in our industry, or a chance to spend a few weeks in California, he’d definitely leave an everlasting mark in our history, like the mark he has left on anyone that was lucky enough to meet him.
Then, he’d certainely disappear and get back to the streets of Brussels he loves so much. He doesn’t seek any exposure, but he just deserves some. And rollerblading deserves it.
I’m afraid he’s so humble and kind there’s nothing wrong to write about him. Let’s just end by mentionning he just started playing the guitar quite recently, and if he plays the instrument like he plays with his skates, music is soon to gain a wonderful musician…

frenchyfries seems to have A BIG CRUSH on this guy. from reading the article, im pretty sure he wants this guys balls.
oh yah, and the skating didnt live up to the talk.
i guess i just dont share the deep love that frenchfries does to see the TRUE AMAZINGNESS of this simplistic skater. maybe if i enjoyed staring at his ass as much as frenchy id like watching this more.
sorry to break your heart buddy, but he isnt a shima he’s just a normal guy you’ve fallen in love with.
best of luck with pursuing the relationship.

February 7th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Mosselman is more impressing when you are skating with hem on a spot you think is crapy. He wil do the most incredibly tricks you canthink off and wonder how the hell he does it.
There is a reason that he is (or was) sponsert by ‘You are here’.
He has more styl then the mst off us and nows more tricks then iicent can dream off.
But I agree with iicent, the edits don’t do hem the credit he deserves.
But belgians are difficcelt to film, ask Daniel prell about filming bruno willemarck :)
If I did’nt now mossel I think that he was notting special.
But I won’t start insulting a fellow blader like Frenchyfries for his respect for some one. I think that is the behaviour of a 12 yar old child.

I lol’d at the description after watching the movie. I guess the frenchie fries people just love their frenchies too much. This guy doesn’t eve come close to Shima. Doesn’t even come close to cyrill (sp?) . Face the reality

great style.
February 7th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
iicents : ahaha yeah right his ass takes first place, your mom is a close second though. And yes, I can act like a 12 years old too…
badmantel : Stephane still represents You Are Here Wheels to the fullest. And difficult to film, it’s also true, but none of us live in Brussels, so it is a little more complicated to get footage.
lol : Mossel is no french guy, Brussels is in Belgium, just so you know…

where was that shot? like the look of them spots!
February 7th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
I’ve skated with Stef since he started skating I think. He’s got a nice vocabulary of tricks. When you skate a session with him or other belgian skaters you’ll be blown away at many occasions. This edit didn’t really do it for me, it doesn’t even come close to what he normally does. This looks like Stef warming up.
And it very true, belgian skaters are hard to film. I won the belgian championship and I’ve never even had a profile. I rarely skate to be filmed just for fun. A quality a lot of the belgian skaters posses…

Steeze Mckneez
This is how rollerblading should be done, none of that sloppy 270 rolling topsouls on coping nonsense that too many kids are doing nowadays.
Looking forward to more footage :)

I don’t know about the rest of the rollerblading world, but Mossel definitely left an impression on me. I remember obsessing over an old edit of some French dude back in 2001(?) who skated the 2000 black & grey non-UFS Remedyz. If that edit was on VHS tape, my copy would be worn the fuck out by now. Hell, it probably would’ve worn out years ago. Either way, I basically watched the edit multiple times per day up until I lost it while moving files around on my computer, and eventually forgot about it. Then one day on Be-mag, about 5 years later, Freddy White posts an edit of some French dude named Stephane Mosselmans whose style looks awfully familiar. So I watch it a few more times to figure out where I’d seen the skater before. After about a dozen views, it hits me that Mossel is the same dude from that old edit I lost. I think Hans and Toby made this connection too, and Hans was kind enough to search his computer for the edit and share it, which made so happy that I FreddyWhited.
The point being this: after 5 years of not knowing who that skater was and never seeing him in any videos (over here in the US at least), I was still able to recognize his incredible style. So I think that means Mossel impacted me and/or my wiener.
Here are those edits:

why did he have a mook frame on one skate and a flat frame on the other?
February 8th, 2008 at 5:19 am
it was over styled big time. the tricks were not amazing or really technically hard, the description was way too generous. but he is good jist not as good as the description.

Belgians don’t have a culture off being filmt. We skate for fun and skate with every one. We don’t give a shit about being the best.
February 8th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Met him in Barcelona, and he was killin it under the 35 degrees sun, hitting everything full speed… Hardcore mentality with style…
February 8th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
You see, you guys need to start skating and stop hating.
Mossel is my homeboy and since i live in Amsterdam now i miss him, He has style for days all of you just cant compare i’m sorry.
Messageboard rollers most of the time dont even know how to skate anyways so start the hating lovely idiots.
Belgians hate camera’s we just dont care but come and check it out for yourself and you will see
February 8th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
It isn’t overstyled. He has always been skating like that. Even in old baggy clothes time.
You can’t understand the description if you haven’t seen him skate for real.
He’s probably not the best technical skater on the planet. But he’s really great to watch. I prefer watching him than aragon.
He’s not copying farmer. He had this style before farmer was really known.
February 9th, 2008 at 1:04 am
So true he always had this style, nobody even knew about farmerboy, bet he copied mossel
