Billy O’ Neil pro skate.
I’ve been getting alot of questions about when my pro skate is coming out and as opposed to answering one at a time which would take mad long, i figured id be lazy and type it once in a blog…ummm ok.
My pro USD skate is due to come out around jan 07… It’s going to be a ufs throne, with mindgames wheels, kizer frames and new jug liners…the liners are gonna fit the new cut that are being made to the usd cuffs….these news cuffs will be introduced with the release of dominic sagona’s pro skate…and also on my model….
The new cuff allows you to have more flexibility, and the jug liner that comes with the cuff will compliment its new shape…basically, my skates gonna be hot…as far as colors and shit like that, im still in the process of experimenting and figuring out what would be best…i was thinkin of maybe going with a traditional black boot, just b/c black is always tight…but this will be better than your average skate…so please buy it. thanks.

Ok kiddies….its time for you all to know what good skating is….i often get messages on myspace about kids who are like, yo check out my friend, hes really good, he can do 450 blah blah or 720 blah blah…and so all you guys know, this means nothing to me…just because your friend can do that doesnt mean he is a good skater….
It means he accomplished a trick..nothing more…. when i think of great skating, i think of dustin latimer, brian shima, louie zamora, my illumanati’s and so on and so on….and it has nothing to do with the tricks they do…its the skating…u know, the actual ROLLERBLADING….
I dont care if u do 900 truespin fish…if u dont skate up to it right, then I DONT CAREEEEE…. i dont care….i’d rather see a louie zamora b/s royale or a dominic sagona topsoul….come on guys, lets grow….skate fasttt… everytime… be risky…. fuck this safe, slow skating, 450 royale over-using, corny ass blading…. lets make this shit tough….o yea, and another thing…at this point we’ve skated more handrails than bikers and skateborders combined times 10…rails arent hard….there is sooooooooo much more to skating than spinning on a fuckin pole… that shit is old news boys…we have so much potential as a sport and as an industry…we need to grow and progress properly…. who the fuck is with me ?

Yeah Koubis, you’re so lazy for posting rollerblading news five times daily for the past year while working a normal job.
Hah, seriously though, I know what Fish is trying to say, but I think rollerblading is diversifying quite well. Look at people like Dunkle, Oli Short, Casey Bagozzi, Rob G, Farmer… They’re taking rollerblading in a totally different direction than, say, Haffey or Broskow or Rachard.
I also think Fish is slightly off in his assumption that rollerblading progresses as a whole. We’re all individuals, and you never know, we might see rolling split totally - people that focus on conventional technical skating, or on creative spot selection, or just abstract expression.
So, all those 450 royalers, continue doing your thing, progress in the direction you want to, and the direction you enjoy. Don’t let paranoid pro’s lead you astray by making you believe your rolling isnt legitimate. To each his own.

yes geroge always has good point, I loove Billy, but I agree, everybody should enjoy skating their way, different people have different views, so this how it is and will be, looking forward seeing his pro skate design.

billy is just like us its just that hes been through alot of shit thro out his skating carrer . hes not like super man or somethin . but personally i love his tech tricks and i beleive that if any skater has the will to become a pro skater he will reach the top of his potentiall however i m not sayin that skating is all bout becomin pro

Personally, i think the beauty of rollerblading is the fact that its relative to each and every person. To say rollerblading is ‘example A’ or ‘example B’, is putting a label on something that i think ’shines out’ because it doesn’t have labels - its free to the skater’s interpretation.
- Although i do agree, to say ‘this skater is a good skater, because he can do this certain trick’ is making it out to seem that good rollerbladers have to do certain trix to be considered good. (I admit though at one stage, I would only really show interest in skater’s profiles if there were hurricanes to grinds or 450’s, its very easy to get sucked into that mind set without realising).
- But don’t get me wrong, those amazing tricks that ppl try (whether they approach it sketchily or slow) is still inspiring, its an amazing to learn a new trick, and its often inspiring for others to try it , and hopefully develop it even moreso. - Which makes it as relevant and significant as any skating in my opinion.
- For me skating is about the people, its about the community it builds - The bringing together of ppl. Personally, without community and/or friendships, any sport, any art form… Is dead…

I love in freestyle rolling they are talking about how the skateboard controls skateboarders and the bike controls bikers… Then it goes into a section of the rail controlling the bladers. Yep… we let the rail control us. The same as a board, or a bike controls others. We should eventually ditch the wheels on our skates and just start some hardcore soap shoe shit. Do you really think an outsider is going to know the difference between all the different rail tricks? No. But they will know the difference between exciting rollerbladers and boring ones. Regardless of if they are good at rails or not. Rollerblading is starting to go in more exciting directions now with people getting older, smarter, and bored with the same old shit.
Rollerblading will all be the same thing in 10 years. Not some division between park skaters, “creative” skaters, and rail skaters.

Im on his side. Skate FAST. I think a mach 5 top soul on any thing looks better than some slow as hell what ever trick, it makes sense. And I’ll add this, because after reading it I think he implied it but did not say it. If you are going to do a 540 royal, SKATE FASAT. Skate conffident to the rail, haul ass and huck it, and come off CLEAN. All he is commenting on is clean style needs to be brought back. I have to agree pretty strongly with him on that.

the reason i skate, the reason i think alot of people skate, it because its an athletic activity that lacks rules and limits etc. it melds athleticism and creativity. but i think alot of people that skate try and put certain “rules” into skating. you gotta do this to be good, you gotta do that to be ill blah blah blah. in this way you’re just making skating like any other sport. if every skater took the energy it takes to learn the new hot spin trick and put it into developing their style as a skater, try to innovate and TRULY be creative, skating would see a lot more progression as a whole. long story short, im with you billy.

well I think we do the best shit on and off rails, some rollerbladers are like acrobats on vert. we can pretty much do everything on a damn hard surface, I mean what else but to find more damn terrain or something. I like style but great tricks are also pretty amazing, those are high expectations.

i totaly agree but skating is a underground sport for u to have fun with it’s not skatebording millions of companys can come out and stay strong but we have trouble keeping our slim companys together the tricks we do dont mean shit tous well they do but not to the sport intierly the guys that are pro for companys like fish for example with his awsome trick style and wut not he keeps up the kid’s aka us buy shit but the pros are wut keep the sport together

Yea. I agree with everyone. Everyone has a point. For the longest whie everyone’s been saying pretty much the same thing. To be honest, no one is wrong because it is subject to our own perceptions. We all are putting our points accross but it eventually leads to the same thing: we want rolling to progress. No matter if we choose Fish’s way or George’s way or Koubis’ way or Cole’s way we all are choosing a path to keep rolling going. This is the kind of passion we really need in the industry when we we all need new heads to fill those vacant spots. Keep the passion, keep the skates, keep on rolling.
