Short Film: Close Circuit, by Matthew Watt

Director Matt Watt from Hotmilkfilms.com has shared this Short Film of a skater that finds himself trapped in a CCTV world, but will he escape?

Filmed in DV using a Canon XM1 this short has your eyes fixed on the screen at all times.

This excellently edited film, with it’s bespoke soundtrack written especially is a fine example yet again – that creativity, ideas and content is key to creating a memorable film.

  7. EditCrunch Says:

Matt made this in 2007. It’s not about the skating in this video. It’s about the idea and the film itself. It’s awesomely creative, and refreshing to see somethin new.

  24. Hans inToronto Says:

  25. Azur Says:

There simply isn´t enough of this around.
    Why though?
It is interesting to see how people are reluctant to put the orthodox skating to one side and open their mind to non repetitive clip after clip editing. Narrative structures are something that the rollerblading video industry lacks big time, and still, we get a 99.9% of the videos filled up with just tricks, almost like the porn video industry. It´s getting gross to watch impersonal trick after trick edits, absolutely everyone can do them.

Less porn, more love, more ideas, lines, sounds and faces!

Nice skating, nice set up and amazing how you are making those fiziks last this long Chilvers!

Chilvers, Watt, I take off my hat.

  26. simwarren Says:

    True Azur,

Just to remind people this edit was filmed and edited 2 almost 3 years ago.

  27. laf Says:

the skating didn’t need to be insane, it would have taken away from the concept. Watch a chilvers section if you don’t know who he is, he’s sick. Really enjoyable piece of film

  28. Harry Maynard Says:

    Azur knows whats up.

  29. Juan López Says:

Very nice. Rolling videos can have more content than just skating.A story like this is refreshing. I specially love the ending. Love the concept too.

    I am a believer.
