From Supreme to that stupid Cam&Jimmy&Juelz tee, … their movement has been sanctioned by streetwear and it was only a matter of time before Dipset, (mighty mighty Dipset) would take their place amongst the De La Souls of the scene.
Understanding their place in the market, Dipset chose to incubate themselves further with the culture by creating the Dipset Rollerblading Team. We hear Nike is already planning a division called Nike RB to replace their non-profitable SB branch.

All this hate is stupid. Here’s people actually trying to do something for rollerblading and if they aren’t doing it how you want it then all of a sudden it’s bad for rolling. It’s about time rolling will get the recognition it deserves. Maybe if us rollers supported more things like this than we would have the opportunity to go to our local skateboard shops and see rolling merchandise instead of ordering from a faceless webstore thousands of miles away. Maybe it will open up more flow opportunities for the tons of kids who are so good, but it’s just impossible for them to be sponsored now. At least it will be enough for our pros to make a decent living of rollerblading. I’d like to see Nike pick up rolling. I don’t plan on switching from Remz to Nike anytime soon, but with a powerhouse like Nike and their millions of advertising dollars, anything will be possible for rolling.

Lets be truthful for a second- dipset’s music represents gangster culture(drugs,violence, sex, and money), No matter how much exposure rolling may get from this partnership with dipset, I’m ultimately against it, I personally feel that the messages behind dipsets music are not in line with rolling’s culture, anyone who truly loves this sport knows the struggle of how our culture is viewed and the lack of recognition it receives, therefore if we were to have musical support, I believe it should come from acts who have endured similar struggles that we have, such as:independent artistsor acts that were independent and have gained recognition, with the image of rolling already in a fragile state, we shouldnt just accept help and exposure from whom ever offers it, and no im not a tight pants grommet who listens emo, im just an intelligent black dude who loves REAL hiphop and cares how his culture is represented

The only thing is I don’t especially like the way you roll and find your profiles boring (no hate dude, just telling you how I feel about that). I think that you can’t expect much results from criticism when someone else has put in all the effort and you are simply the complainer. If you disagree with Dipset, try to create your own movement with this level of exposure. I also think that whoever become’s the mainstream’s image of rollerblading should remember they represent the entire culture. Rollerblading’s icons to the public will have to be true to themselves to get to that point. However, take a step back and remember you represent us all. I think Mel’s replies have been fair and he has shown he will give people the respect they deserve.

I was used to do lame switch ups on lame spots… But then I grew up and realized there was way more to experience within rolling… No, I can’t do half the shit Dipset skaters do. But there are chances they can’t do some of the shit I do. But anyway dude, since when do you have to be a pro to give your opinion ?
