RODAPE: Rollerblading TV show (Brazil), Episode 2

The second episode of the newest Brazillian Tv show, RODAPÉ, the first rollerblading dedicated TV SHOW in Brazil.
The show is put togheter by veteran rollerblader Fred Castro, with experience in the field of motion graphics and design, and more than 16 years of rollerblading.
This one is about 17 minutes long, its the long version, and has skating in BHZ, RJ, SP, and a little tour in germany.
The goal of the show is to portrait all kinds of skating styles within the freestyle rolling universe, and to make rollerblading more popular around the globe.
This upload is permitted by the hosts of the show, the WOOHOO cable tv channel here in Brazil. its under my personal channel with the intent of delivering the show to the ones that don’t have cable TV.

this seems like a good opportunity to get new people watching our sport and to learn a bit about it. only problem is that this show is horrible. I rollerblade and can’t even get into this. no one that doesn’t already rollerblade will watch this. sorry but the crew working on this needs to try harder to not be a really long day edit and actual put some fun worthwhile content in here. I can’t believe someone is giving rollerblading a chance to be on tv and this is the best you can come up with. look at other extreme sport shows that are successful and take some notes… do what they do. if Julio had his hand in this you know it would be dope. hope to see an episode 3 but i really hope it’s better then the first 2.

Great job Fred! Rollerblading needs more people like Fred Castro. I wish we had rolling on TV here in America. And to joeman95^, the average person that doesn’t rollerblade probably doesn’t know the difference between some of the stuff that you saw here and the kind of stuff you see Ian McLeod do.

ya i found it to be boring, and i absolutely love rollerblading fred castro is doing an amazing thing! exposing rollerblading to everyone i think a bit more practice on refining the episodes and you will be on american TV add more goofing around stupid shit … try NEW THINGS not just the same old park maby skitch a golfcart to a gap or throw waterballoons at busses or build some fucking CRAZY RAIL TO GRIND OUT OF A BIG TRREEEE just ideas

I’m sure the most important being shown on television is the essence of the attitude of the friendship that the sport offers.
father comun not want your child go down a handrail 40 steps …
but your child has fun and does not stay home on the computer all day complaining about life.
criticism that should be better, sure that will be well received, but always giving priority to the true essence and skates there.

Hey joeman95 I’m sorry that it didn’t please you. Actually, I had a lot of people that don’t rollerblade telling me it was great, and even some skateboarders who happen to hate rollerblading actually thinking is kinda coo after they’ve watched the show.
I know the show is not perfect, but what media is actually super good in blading? I think the show is not as trashy as you say… Still, I’ll try my best to get it better as time goes by, and I get even more experienced in the field of motion graphics, design and videography.
As for our “team”, there is no TEAM, just me… my camera, my editing skills, and a lot of will to make blading more popular. I got this opportunity, with this small channel, because they saw my work, and thought it was worth a shot, and for the record, I’m not making any money, the TV channel is NOT paying me. In fact, I get to work less at the design agencys that I used to work, and spend money with gas, food, mini DV tapes and so on.
So I’m spending my money, with my own effort, to make something happen out of nothing, to pump the scene in a third world country, and speaking english to you… It might not seem much, but believe me I’m doing the best I can.
And, yeah, sorry bro, I’m really not jon julio, and I don’t own a skate company, I wish I did, and who knows if I won’t someday… But its just a guy with a camera, a dream and lots of will… sorry if that disappointed you.
Anyways, thank you very much for watching, and for your comment.
sorry for my broken english,
Regards,
Fred

Essa oportudidade eh muito importatnte! Parabéns!
Acho que deveriam mostrar algumas coisas para as pessoas que nao sabem nada sobre o esporte, tipo mostrar como se faz e o nome das manobras… Assim as pessoas interesadas no inline poderiam começar a praticar

I have to say I agree on aspects from both Joe and Castro. It’s awsome that Castro is getting this chance and doing it despite using his money and time ect.. but I agree with Joe in that the production value is not there it looks like someone edited this on windows movie maker. I don’t think you have to have aragon sized tricks to make a good TV show most people will be amazed with much smaller tricks you just have to polish it up a bit. The first scene is a great example you did super chopping cuts to other angles of simple tricks not only does it look crappy but you don’t need 4 angles of a tru topacid on a knee high ledge and all the jumping around is confusing and distracting. I feel it looks more like Joe said just a random skate day edit you could find on the video edit section in this message board daily when it should look like a TV show. I’d like to see a couple interviews thrown in and that would let you focus on the higher level tricks you have in this rathr then a bunch of tiny filler tricks. I’m not expecting you to make a MTV quality show lol just look up some tutorials on editing/filming and clean it up a bit that way your money and chance makes it past episode 5 or whatever they gave you as a pilot series

Well spoken Fred. I honestly thought the entire vibe of the edit was on point. The tricks are nothing out of the ordinary but they don’t need to be. If this is on TV, I feel that regular consumers or just anyone would most definitely be drawn to it. I think for the time, money, and effort you’re putting into this, it’s well worth it. I’ve always thought that your work had that TV special feel to it. I wish you the best of luck dude and I personally think it’s really good. Anyone else can be a critic but I feel that fellow rollerbladers need to step into the shoes of consumers(or non rollerbladers) because generally the younger generation will be the ones to continue to uplift our sport and a segment such as this looks interesting enough that I can see parents and kids getting in the mood to strap on some boots. Hey Fred, have you gotten any feedback from the actual network? What have you heard from them personally? As a learning process I think the show will only get better but with anything, you just need to keep at it and build upon constructive criticism. So far the majority here seem to be lending a helping hand.

interesting discution. i have a tv show too and i had that questioning from the tv network. i had to manage the information inside the show so that everyone could understand whats going on and whats the big deal of doing what they do. wy they did, and how they did is something that interest most of normal viewers…
if guys have the chance look for “primeiro dos moicanos”here in RN and u will find something that brings these kind of information.
i think for this show, this propose is amazing, because its not done for those who dont skate. its made by a skater FOR THE SKATERS.
i love it, and will suport aways. as a skater or as a contributor/friend.

Fucking gringos! they love to hate…
Fred Castro, the TV show is amazing… Dont care about all the bullshit this haters always says… next time, do it better: Dont put legends… hehe
Last week, many of my friends from my city here in Rio grande do Sul, talked with me about a rollerblading TV show on Wohoo channel, they even dont rollerblade, but they said the tv show is amazing… So u are on the right way… keep the good work!
