I guess if Robbie is getting sponsored by Valo (which would be very suiting with his style and everything, IMO) it’s because he’s a good role model in several significant ways: He’s true to his own style (which is an extremely rare one in our culture), and he blades for fun without risking the health of his body.
Of course one might say that he’s not pushing the envelope like so many other try to do all the time. But why should that be a prerequisite for getting sponsored? In my opinion there’s room for a variety of different styles and goals within blading – e.g. fun, pushing the boundaries of yourself and what’s considered possible, and so on.
I like to see edits like this one because they’re simple yet stylish. Robbie’s got a kick-ass hippie style unlike anyone else I’ve seen in freestyle blading, and there’s something so strange about it that gives it a mystical force of attraction (an “allure”, maybe?:) and makes it enjoyable to watch. To me. And I guess maybe that “mystical force” is what attracts you immature haters to watch his edits again and again huh? ;)
You remind me of this video I saw on youtube, of a cat that smelled something it didn’t like, but then kept on trying to smell it again and again :D
I mean it’s like his kind of “weak” style, as you call it, is in fact a natural and necessary part of his whole thing… cause I mean, wouldn’t it seem kind of weird to see someone who looks like a full blown hippie busting all those crazy tricks that the more hardcore ppl do? Seriously… hippies just aren’t supposed to be trying very hard to do anything, FYI :D

let me point out what I think were legit tricks in this edit:
>first trick at the start – cab 540 was stylish as and I bet the kids that say “any one can do it”, I bet they do it ugly as fuck.
>the 2 lines from 0:41 – 0:49 – (sold 360 and cab 360 with grab)
> 1:13-1:17 – you would do the same Colin
>line at 1:44-1:50 – all you kids that do several switch ups to impress and do sloppy spins would never think of this, and I’d rather watch robbie do something solid then watch you’s do a “big” trick thats sloppy as fuck.
>1:53-2:03 – another solid and consistant line which is what rollerbladng is about. also another solid 3 at the end with grabbing > take notes kids because a grabbed 3 or 5 is better than a sloppy 7 or 9, or if you can do a solid 7 or 9 with at least the atempt to grab it a little and make it look good then even better!
>2:23-2:25 – that was cool and another trick you would do Colin
>and last but not least Colin the ses slide at the end, was fucking sick and you can’t deny that you would do that and have that in an edit, I’ve seen it all from you Colin.
also I thought to my self , I mentioned the words sloppy and solid, and I do recall you saying CJ had a sloppy style, just so you know before you do or if you do reply to this don’t add that CJ is sloppy again, because that’s a lie and you know it.
Although I do think your better than Robbie, of coarse you are, I enjoy your skills it’s even inspirational… Julio knows what his doing, his not desperate, his just smarter than you are.

To those that ask “How can he be sponsored?”, I suggest you read the positive comments every time this guy gets coverage. As much as he might outrage the haters, he’s striking a positive nerve with a lot of people. Pretty rad thing to to able to do.
He’s as individual as you can get, creative, steezy in the tricks he does, and a super nice dude, which believe it or not goes a long way, especially when you’re as active a participant in the local scene as he is. Three boxes ticked, perhaps the Difficulty box isn’t as important to getting free skates in this game as these haters might have thought.
As Gary said, Julio knows what he’s doing. Those that have encountered Rob know why he doesn’t have any enemies. Positive energy maaaan.
