Rewind : 12 Years of X

In the beginning, ESPN brought together windsurfing, bungy jumping, kiteskiing, skysurfing and barefoot jumping in a bill touted as the Extreme Games. The next year, the E and the treme were dropped, and the X Games took shape, and the word extreme would never again be the same.
During the decade of summers that followed, 29 different disciplines would be dropped, leaving professional street lugers and in-line skaters alike to take their battles back to the streets, sans TV cameras.
Chapters of action sports history have been compiled at the Games, where records are broken every year. Some of the most memorable moments of X are those that turned bikers and skateboarders into celebrities and idols, and EXPN.com is bringing you back in time to re-live the stories. Unfortunately, we didn’t find the on-ramp to the information superhighway until ‘99, so we missed out on the chance to tell you stories for a few years. Please bear with our missing years. Think of it as amnesia from a smack to the lid.

“The Women’s Aggressive In-line Vert Final was anything but aggressive on Friday. At least from the competition aspect. With only two contestants in the mix, a medal was left to spare. Someone from the crowd should have strapped on a pair of blades for the bronze.”
And they say rolling is easy…

FUCK THE X GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we don’t need them, the need us.
Most of our pros refuse to skate in the x games or any asa event. NO ONE should make money off of rollerblading ecept rollerbladers.

i somewhat agree mr. w. i saw fuck the x-games too, but people that don’t rollerblade are always going to get paid before the real rollerbladers. those people don’t always target kids who actaully participate in the “sport” most of the time its targeting jocks, older people and most important little kids. thats probably why they took out street at first. there not enough flips and other tricks that don’t appeal to non-rollerbladers. thats why i hate flips.
p.s
what im saying is fuck the x-games and expn
