Remz and Franky Morales part ways
We’d like to publicly acknowledge Franky Morales‘s contributions for the past few years and announce that as of today he will no longer be a part of Remz.
We didn’t anticipate parting ways and there has been a common project in the works for the past few months, a second Franky OS skate, which we both decided to still release soon.
Doing what you love, be it skating at pro level or running a skate company, can also have a tough business side to it and some decisions can be hard to make.
Kato and Franky have come to this mutually and believe it will ultimately create a better situation for everyone involved.
We look forward to the future and new team opportunities with excitement and anticipation, and wish Franky well wherever his path may lead.

wake up dude, BLADING IS DEAD. It has been for quite a while and I can’t blame companies who can’t afford their skaters anymore. THERE IS NO MONEY, NOBODY IS BUYING SKATE ANYMORE. Just accept it. I’m not saying that blading sucks or that you should all stop skating. If you love it, you should continue for sure but you need to accept that you share this love with the smallest amount of people ever.

@yooooooo- What you say ain’t entirely true. Razors, Valo, and the conference are all doing fairly well. I hear Amall is doing well too. Big money rolling comps are dead, but there’s still decent money to be had if you’re business minded. You just can’t expect to make dough entirely off of blading alone.

Interesting to see where Franky goes next.
Remz should be alright. They’ve some ridiculous talent in the flow ranks, so provided they hold onto Haffey for the foreseeable future and the flows continue to progress, they should be fine, people will still buy the skates regardless, fantastic product, plus success follows Haffey everywhere he goes.
Currently only Dre and Aragon are pro in the U.S. for Razors? If they haven’t already, they might make a move for Franky.

I think Nils should be pro. I mean, he beat Bailey AND Haffey in a popularity contest, and those guys sell how many pro skates a year? Just think how many more Nils will sell now that he’s the hot shit in Europe, you know, that place where there are way more skaters than in the US?
I would also love to see more Mason and Josiah, and Ryan Sibbio is progressing so fast on street and park he might just f- everyone up soon, like that soul 900 out he did better than Aragon because he actually stayed fakie on the landing. anyway, it should be interesting.
Or maybe they’ll just pay Haffey more. you never know in this industry.

Nils will probably go to the Conference. Nils and Cudot give USD the best young skaters in the world. CJ will dominate comps for the forseeable future.

Franky is not just the next-in-the-sport ripper. He is style, image,vision and inspiration. He is an entartainment, attraction… Yes there are a lot of better skaters nowdays (all these high pace young guys), but FM is an Icon!
Example: i play to Dad many various skater profiles and ask him who`s the man and he says this one and points FM ! Try this with yours…

Franky is STILL one of the best in the world. He is an icon of our sport. He is not some kid who just cam out with a few hot sections. He has been killing it for over a decade.He is one of the most recognizable skaters in the world and any person sleeping on him needs to wake the fuck up.

Here’s what I envisioned the discussion between the two being like from a grommet at heart, but grown adult’s perspective who realizes rollerblading is very special thing, but not the only important thing in life::
Kato: Hey Franky, listen dude, I wanna keep you on this team and keep paying you, but revenue is really getting low, and in order for you to stay “pro status” for me, you gotta take a a bit of a pay cut from your already low pay. I mean maybe if you put in a little more work for me I can keep you on at what I’m currently giving you, but otherwise, we’re just gonna have to work something out that I don’t think either one of us will be too happy about.
Franky: You know what don’t worry about it. I’d like more freedom to work on my music if I’d like to, and if there’s a larger company out there that can pay me more for the same work like I’ve been hearing for a while, I might just make a move to one of them. I hope you wouldn’t be too offended by that. It’s just that being “pro” in rollerblading leaves very few realistic options.
Kato: Yeah, no worries. I’ll be really sad to see you go, but you’ll always be welcomed back if you ever just wanna get free blades or who knows, maybe things will change and you can come back on making more money.

Okay I guess I really am a grom at heart, because I had too much fun with that even knowing only a couple groms or OG’s might read it. But seriously, I enjoy skate gossip, but sometimes this shit is ridiculous. I think this past week I’ve heard groms call Julio and now Kato “greedy” or at least imply it quite a bit. I work at a fairly decent sized local company who I will leave nameless. I see firsthand how bad this economy is doing when the company that I work for sells technology we use everyday and you might assume is profiting ridiculous amounts of money, when in reality the owners make far less than what you’d expect. I can only imagine what little even the largest skate companies are making. Just be thankful we can stay afloat and maintain a strong underground scene with no outside money. This doesn’t mean I don’t think we deserve better, but understand just how bad it could be. I really think Franky deserves to retire in at least a decent little middle class house with little worry of having to work much at all for the rest of his life by this time in his career, but unfortunately we kinda all know that’s just not possible right now. I know if myself or a lot of others had the talent he possesses we’d be content making just enough to scrape by if it meant we wouldn’t have to work a normal job to support ourselves.

after much debate w/ kato, he and i decided to remove franky from the team due to the decline in skill and lack of intensity in his skating currently. i will be receiving 2 new pro models this year on both the HR and OS platforms. tuesday we will formally announce that chris and cj are also leaving the team to ride for valo. remz will elevate, justin beiber aka nils janson to the level of permanent top flow and jacob juul to permanent am w/ no chance of skates for either of them. business is business and 1+1=2 except on every seventh wednesday.
