Real Style: Harlem
Rachard Johnson & Julian Bah were featured on a fashion website. Link
So I was chillin in Harlem this weekend…being a Brooklynite, I honestly never make the trek, so while up there I couldn’t help but scout for fashionable people. I snapped these two young men (photo above).
…from their graphic t-shirts to saggy jeans, Jordans, medallions, and hats, they epitomized real street style. I asked a few questions, and turns out they’re actually part of Jim Jones’ Diplomats Skate Team (called Dipskate). I wasn’t too familiar, but sounds cool!
So what do you think of this representation of Harlem’s style?
Smootches!
Thanks Rando.

Hey “one” – what do you do for the industry? Most likely, mr. anonymous, not a damn thing. Sure, it’s great that all you skaters dickride each other, keep your little circles and gossip about anyone trying to do anything different. You all do SO much for your industry.
Meanwhile, DipSkate is getting extreme rollerblading, freestyle rolling, rollerblading, blading, or whatever you like to call it (because Lord knows you all bitch about that enough) a lot of mainstream exposure. Some in the Hip Hop realm, some in the fashion realm, some in the adult mainstream and some in the teen scene.
You don’t have to like any of the guys on the team, but you damn sure better respect the light they are bringing to your sport. And regardless of what your little “skate industry” mind thinks, people really do see them as a positive force. They are inspiring a lot of kids to get into the sport – kids who might otherwise choose other paths in life.
Skateboarders still think you’re all gay. Get over yourselves and appreciate the spotlight. And try showing the good people on the worldwide web that you’re real men for a change by not bitching like little girls.

hahahahaha holy shit someone is pissed
where did you pull that essay out of? i was going to say your ass, but you would have an unhumanly large butthole. i guess anything is possible if you try hard enough.
did you even click the link? no one cares about this article. like three people complained. anyway, why do you say “your” sport? if you dont rollerblade, wtf are you ranting about. “Skateboarders still think you’re all gay.”
wow, i didnt realize. im going to stop rollerblading right now and start skateboarding, cant be seen dickriding any other extreme rollerbladers anymore.

@wtf
Poor comeback. I’m not the least bit “pissed” – your responses aren’t hurting anyone but yourself and your fellow rollerbladers. You’re just a bitter old person. Find someone else to pick on and let these guys get love. They are doing a lot of good for your sport, whether you agree or not.
@guy
typical racist rollerblader response – don’t you sad little people realize what a poor case you are for your own sport? You should be embarrassed and ashamed for all the racist things that are typed on these sites and boards. As far as anyone googling about the sport… rollerblading = kkk 2008
