  2. Lars Says:

Since Empire (which also distributes Roces) doesn’t distribute Valo anymore, does that mean that Valo is 100% skater-owned now?

Random: What happened to Santee. They all just kinda disapeared after the video release.

  8. monkey shoes Says:

yeah thats a good point if some one in the know could comment and tell me if valo is 100% skater owned now then that’d be sick. and valo would then be like a better version of nimh. sorry nimh but putting skins on razors and removing the toe and stating 100% ownership just doesnt cut it for me, you’ll always be a bit of a shadow of valo in terms of the hard boot soft boot thing plus they look sick and the shima 1s are not nice.
    no hard feelings

Valo is owned by Roces and Jon Julio. Empire is owned by Azikiwee Anderson. Them Goods is owned by Jon Julio. All that’s happening here is the US distribution of Valo is changing hands- the ownership of the company is not changing.

The shell that Nimh uses is NOT A RAZORS SHELL. Meaning, it does not belong to Razors. It is one of their manufacturer’s open molds, which means any of their clients can use it without paying a licensing fee, or for the molds that create it. Bootshell molds are the single most expensive part of creating a new skate, as they are the most complex shape in a skate.

Everyone thinks of it as a Razors shell because Razors used it for years and years- actually Razors started up in much the same way as Nimh is, creating their own parts to fit that shell- but it is not actually their shell. Nimh is 100% skater-owned, by Brian and Jon, and has NOTHING TO DO WITH RAZORS OR SUNSHINE.

holy shit!! that definetly convinced me to get valos next! great fun to watch. alex broskows style could not possibly get any smoother.

  11. satan Says:

i means cool edit, them bearings sound interesting. he looks cool with that moustache haha like a french thief or something in the picture.

  12. Lars Says:

Haha. Nimhs are not nice? You obviously haven’t tried one before. Who cares if they’re Cults wrapped in skin. The concept of the whole boot was to let rollerbladers enjoy the free groove system in the souplate with an equally good mould to support the foot, all the while keeping the price down to a minimum. Besides, the cult shell is pretty basic and the big differences are the cuff and the toe area chopped off.

Anyway, back to Valo. Even though the issue of ownership is still a bit confusing, I hope Jon Julio finds some way to break free from Roces and be independent. What better way to help and support the industry than to give your money directly to the pros.

    P.S
Just because Nimhs use Razors Cult shells doesn’t mean Razors gets a piece of the action too. I can tell. The Nimh skate company is independent as f***.

  13. Chris Says:

haha that guy should really re-assess his facial hair. seeeeriously.

  14. andreas542 Says:

I’ve never tried Swiss bearing, but might be tempted to now.

Erik Bailey is sicker than sick, who cares what his facial hair looks like??

  15. monkey shoes Says:

err i didnt say razors get a piece of the action if you read it. ah i love to see the reactions when i put up something opinionated, you have to admit though they are fucking ugly.

  16. Scott Wilcoxson Says:

Valo and Nimh are sick. I love how many choices are available nowadays, compared to say,1991. Even the lowest end skates nowadays are so sweet compared to rollerblade lightnings. People talk of “Knowing”Rollerblading. Try Mizouing a 30 stair in rollerblade lightnings and then you may “know” rollerblading. Respect to Julio and Shima for everything they have done, and are doing for Rollerblading.
Props to all the old heads still Rolling who remember a time before all the bitching about what skate is better.

  17. Lars Says:

    Oh really? Are you sure?

“sorry nimh but putting skins on [razors] and removing the toe and [stating 100% ownership] just doesnt cut it for me,”

    I rest my case.

  18. kristian Says:

VALO= Roces, the manufacturer and co-owner of the brand + Jon Julio

NIMH= Brian Shim and Jon Elliott

If Roces ever decided to stop making Valo, they could, and Jon Julio would have to take the name (I believe the only thing he owns) and try to secure manufacturing somewhere else.

NIMH is literally only owned by Brian and Jon, so no one can tell them what to do.

That is the difference in 100% SKATER PWNED.

  19. mustache Says:

    YOOOOOOOOOO

    peep dat stache!

  20. marosh Says:

baileys tricks are always sick but there is something about his style i really cant stand…i dont know i just dont like it anytime…but he is still an exceptionally consistent skater.
