One : New Rollerblading Mag

Just got a mail from Justin EISINGER (ex. Daily Bread Mag Editor-in-chief) who is entroducing his new Mag called ‘One‘.
Hello friends, there is much to talk about - and to be done - but we have some exciting news to share concerning a new media project, so here it is:
ONE will be published six (6) times a year, on a bi-monthly basis. We plan to put out three issues by December: August, October, and December, with an emphasis on worming our way around release dates (scooting some forward, spacing one out) to allow the magazines to coincide with your need to promote BACK TO SCHOOL, HOLIDAY and SPRING releases.
ONE is working with RAT TAIL DISTRIBUTION to ensure maximum retail presence domestically. We expect to put our 64-Page FREE PREMIERE ISSUE into over 150 stores in the U.S., and our international partners will guarantee delivery in key foreign markets right from the start. If you are a retailer, we want to supply you with enough of our first copy so that no rollerblader in your area has an excuse not to pick it up. After all, this one is FREE.
ONE knows everyone is struggling, so thanks to our clean financial state and your advertising budgets we have designed a pricing plan to allow companies of all sizes to represent themselves in an international forum. Web rates are in the works.
ONE makes it possible for you to get your company on the back cover for $2,000 an issue; that’s only $1,000 per month. Some day soon we’re going to look back and think we were fucking crazy… but damn take advantage of it now. Here are the rates:
Back Cover: $2,000
Inside Front / Inside Back Cover: $1,500
Twp-page Spread: $1,750
Full Page Color Ad: $1,200
Half Page Color Ad: $700
Quarter Page Color Ad: $400ONE wants to make your advertisement and our unique culture as accessible to the public as possible. That means we aim to have ONE available in NEWSSTANDS around the country by issue #2, and complete international NEWSSTAND distribution by HOLIDAY. However, we feel that our FREE PREMIERE ISSUE will be seen by just as many readers as the more FORMALLY distributed issues that it precedes. Also, posters, insertion ads and additional retailer incentive features will be available.
ONE is more than the rollerblading magazine you’ve come to expect. Featuring the finest rollerblading alongside compelling music coverage, inspired blade culture editorial, physical wellness training, and a look at everything else with which we intertwine, ONE is poised to present a new look of professionalism to our most beloved pastime.
ONE is made possible by the efforts of Wes Driver, Justin Eisinger, Ryan Schude, Chris Peel, and the way you feel rolling down the street on your wheels. Thanks rollerblading.

yeh coz we need a mag that cost $2,000 that no1 will buy….wat were they thinking….yeh unity and DB mag are doing so well so y not make a mag thats a retarded price, that’ll work
July 20th, 2006 at 10:01 am
Not a bad idea, skaterboarders are bringing out mags at even cheaper prices, this makes it easier for people to buy one.
July 20th, 2006 at 10:15 am
bald_gye - You are an idiot. Those are ADVERTISING rates. I’m pretty sure they are cheap compared to other mags. Also, look who is involved…i’m pretty sure DB is dead and this is a new mag from the same people.
Looks sick, I cant wait. Something fresh is always good, i keep looking at rejects and wish that was still around, the ideas and design were really clean and effective.

July 20th, 2006 at 6:53 pm
Could you get me an entroduction?
July 20th, 2006 at 6:53 pm

The magazine isnt $2000 Dollars, thats the cost of advertising in the magazine
Its not how retarted they are, its how stupid you are man…..I hate to hate, but when people hate on something and call it retarted, when they are the ones that made the mistake, you have to know its coming to you man…
July 20th, 2006 at 9:31 pm

Bald_Gye is fucking brilliant. Maybe RTFA next time.
The first issue will be free to get One magazine out there to rollers, then after that they’ll start charging, no idea how much though. $4-5 to be expected.

My experience with advertising in any printed media for a rollerblading company is that the profit from advert responses generally doesn’t cover the cost of the advertising. ie if a shop’s net profit is say 15% after all business expenses, then you’d have to sell £3000 worth of skates off the back of the advert before you make any profit at all on Advert generated sales, based on a £450 half page ad. In the USA, the circulation may be higher and therefore you could warrant such prices, but in the UK the circulation you’ll get will come nowhere near enough to warrant those advertising prices for most UK firms. My marketing budget is used for Google ads and sponsorships only these days, I’ve had to drop all printed media adverts until I see some improvement in printed media circulation figures.

Wow, are you serious? Those prices are for advertisement space you retard.
Learn2read IMO.

Looking forward to the new ONE mag. Sad to see DB heading out since they started it back in the day and has done a fantastic job. I’m sure ONE will bring new blood, new concepts & content, and give people a fresh perspective on rollerblading’s situation now and where it is heading. My opinion is that it is heading UP and I have much respect for the pros, old and new, who continue to push the industry. Good work everybody!
