I’m leery as to why this one will last when Daily Bread couldn’t. I don’t think the solution to making money in the magazine business is to just abandon a magazine so you can make another. I subscribed to DB and recieved one issue, what kind of guarantee do I have with this one?

sorry, but that´s by no means a cover shot. and the title itself doesn´t look very special; poor design and even poorer typography. I hope the content is better quality…

This magazine will last because the people involved are not in it to make money and thus nobody is being paid at ONE. I would choose your words more carefully, because nobody “abanoned” anything. Do you work 40 hours a week for free to pay your boss’s bills & debt? I sure hope not.

We took a lot of heat (and equal praise) for doing something a bit different for our mag… especially the first issue. But that’s always going to happen. I don’t see why One mag can’t last when Be-Mag seems to be thriving and I know our mag, Rolla, isn’t going away for the simple fact that everyone involved is doing it purely because they love rollerblading and know that it’s needed.
It’s a real plus too that this is an American thing, being that the scene there has so much more money to throw around than compared to here in Australia. I think this could really be the start of something big if they stick with their passion.
ps. I’m a designer by trade and have been in the mag business for many years, and if they brought out something that looked like Wallpaper mag or something “designery” like that, then they’d probably turn off more people than not. You always gotta think of your demographic. It’s got a big trick, it’s clear and concise, what more could you ask for really?
