Nimh Review by Lui Summer

nimh skates

When I first saw the Nimh skates I really liked its colours. It is a simple black skate with golden highlights. The Nimh skins have got quite a lot of details and are sewn very well. So you don’t have to worry about ripping your skins too fast.

If you take the boot out of the skin you can see that the toe area is cut of to provide more room in the toe area. This means your toes won’t be squeezed into a plastic shell and won’t hurt after skating sessions. Due to this the skate feels pretty big and I would recommend you to get your skates in the same size as you would buy a normal shoe.

The boot itself if quite stiff in the beginning, but it gets a bit more flex after skating for some time. Then it is perfect for any trick you can think of. The cuffs are pretty low and make it easier to do clean topside tricks.

Due to the stiffness of the boot it feels very solid and compact. Especially people with ankle problems will appreciate the support these skates provide. The liner is simple but functional. There is no need for fancy stuff if an easy design is just as comfortable. If you take a look at the liner you can see that there is no stuff on it which you could easily rip off.

The liner is a bit stiff during the first days of skating but it is really comfortable. The only weak point I could discover was the buckle. In my opinion it isn’t protected enough. But this is not too much of a problem because you can buy replacement buckles.

The soul plate is perfect. I have never ever been skating such a fast soul plate before. The plastic is extremely hard and will last a long time. Unfortunately for new rollerbladers you have to make your own groove by skating a curb or using some tools. Making a perfect groove is not that easy so it would be best if people how have not been skating for too long would ask someone for help.

I have been working on my groove three time until it was perfect and deep enough. I also recommend to use a size large frame if you skate a boot which is size 40 (European) or more because otherwise you won’t be able to see your wheels which I don’t like. I also grinded down the toe area of the soul plate to make the skate look a bit smaller.

After all I can say that this is a very solid and strong skate. If you purchase this skate you will have fun for quite some time.

Size L for a size 40 to see your wheels? must be quite a bulky skate then,
what size frame and skate are in these pictures? (the frame looks too small)

  2. bob Says:

the skate itself isnt actually bulky
its just the fact that the front of the soul plate sticks out around the toe.
ive no many people to sand this off
the next model of nimh coming out will have this sanded down.

i sanded down the toe of my soul much better than you! and before i read this. but yeah nimhs are pretty bulky. but they skate so good, and theyre actually pretty light!

I have a pair of nimhs and I love them. I rode Remz for a long time and transfering over to a hard booth was weird. But I wanted to support Jon and Brian. The skate rides amazingly. It’s not that bulky and the toe area doesn’t affect me at all. To some people, yea it would bother them. I take the skate as is and start skating. The liner is too stiff for me, so I changed out my liners. The groove took my like 10min to make. I took it to a ruff curb/ledge and just used my hands and muscle and sanded it down. Super easy to do. I think skate looks and performs. I would defentily tell other people to purchase NIMH skates.

such bullshit. the skin rips so quick its ridiculous. but it does slide really nice and the skate feels fuckin solid. but the skin rips like no tomorrow.

  7. fucker Says:

i can remenber those and they are exactement les memes
    voila !

getting me some of these Nimh’s very sppn , cant wait!, take em as they are and custom them how you prefer, id ride it as is for a while just to see how the whole skate works after wearing in.

no point buying new linier straight away after 2weeks.

point is by the sounds of it and from Youtube these are worth the $$ and support independence from big companies and support genuine, passionate rollers like shima and elliot.

    respect;)
