More Broken Able Frames

up : Able Tory Treseder Gen 3 Frames, broken after 20 minutes. Enlarge the image.
Dave Mcnamara reviewed the Able Treseder Gen 3 Frames. Link
I read the post a while back about someone who had managed to break the new Able Vinny Mintons in 20 minutes and i though, “Wow, thats pretty unlucky.” But i understand that when companies manufacture new products there are sometimes defect items and sometimes their are clitches in the design that need to be ironed out…
As a result, my friend Billy, who owns a skate shop in South Korea (www.realsk8.net) gave me a pair of the new ABLE TORY TRESEDERS to try out before he sold any to his customers. I was happy to skate some new frames for free and they rode really well when i tried them on some ledges… the slid fast, locked on well and didnt wear down after an hour or two of skating them on the rough surface.
The next time i skated them was on a rail and they slid really fat even though the rail was chrome so i was impressed yet again. After about half an hour i started skating a stiar set next to the rail, just doing little wallrides and passing time till we moved to the next spot (it was only a three stair set)… i did a simple wallride and i head a crack and my right skate veered way right… the right frame was cracked straight through off a three step gap… i would have been really pissed but i never paid for the frames.
However, there are kids out there coughing up over eighty dollars for a set and if they break under so little pressure i can only imagine what would happen if you threw yourself off a roof in them… they might not be so forgiving….
Heres the pic. As you can see… there is no groove on the frame and none of the graphic has been rubbed off yet… there is only a little dirt on the blocks… the frames are hardly touched but they fell apart after a really small gap…
Thats not acceptable.

December 4th, 2006 at 2:18 pm
sorry able i can’t trust you.
December 4th, 2006 at 2:30 pm
well thats just stupid i think able should start doing something about this quite quick or there not gunna have no1 buying there frames
December 4th, 2006 at 2:35 pm
fuck :(
i had to buy a vinny…
December 4th, 2006 at 3:08 pm
my friend broke one frame jumping off his p rail, and another jumping off a foot high sewer cap. Able really needs to do something about these frames. Well, if they want, Ill never skate them so I dont care.
December 4th, 2006 at 3:19 pm
it’s a shame these frames are not strong as the old generation 2s (eg bloodmoney, vinny 2, zamora 2) were amazing, i did many grinds and roof drops with them on and not more than a worn through part because of serious grinding. still didn’t snap either.i’m disappointed at the new ables…just glad i got GC.
December 4th, 2006 at 3:31 pm
here are my Treseders after only a few weeks of ledge and park skating, just grinds, no gaps. They wear down very quickly

Why did you remove the axel nut/bolt for the h block, mabey that compromises the strength of the frame.
December 4th, 2006 at 3:39 pm
I emailed them photos of the broken frames and told them what happened, so who knows. They may take some responsibility and do something about it.
December 4th, 2006 at 3:50 pm
thats unbelievable
surely it must be a manufacturing defect in only a select few frames, im sure able would’ve actually tested the frames before releasing them
December 4th, 2006 at 4:26 pm
i removed the bolts after they broke when i put new frames on my skates… luckily i had a spare pair in my bag when i was out that day…
December 4th, 2006 at 4:50 pm
The message you should all take away from this: DO NOT RIDE FREESYLE FRAMES. I have had the Jeromy Morris frames for 2 or 3 months now with NO problems.
December 4th, 2006 at 4:51 pm
There you see, i’m not the onlyone who have snapped a pair of those!
December 4th, 2006 at 5:32 pm
YOU HAVE TO USE THE CENTER ROCKERARMS TOO!!
Ive had mine for 3 weeks now and ive had no problems with gaps and such.
December 4th, 2006 at 5:40 pm
theres definately somethin up with ables new frames…thats 2 ive heard of in about 3 weeks
December 4th, 2006 at 5:42 pm
Oh dear!
December 4th, 2006 at 5:44 pm
seriously somethin wrong there, glad i ride gc’s
December 4th, 2006 at 5:51 pm
OK…here’s the deal.. All you guys jumpin on the bandwagon … say’n OMG… Able frames break!… NEWS FLASH … All Frames Break ..and I mean all, so don’t freak out because someone posts a picture of a pair of frames snapped, Go talk to Chris Haffey, and ask him how many pairs of Ground Controls he goes thru per-week…
It sucks that negative stuff like this gets posted and then all the freekin grommets decide to get their opinion from an internet picture, instead of talking to a group of friends who have skated the “said product” …
Long story short… All frames have broken, and all frames have been snapped very early in their lives by someone, but not all people post it on the internet and try to tank different products.
If the any product gets a large number of people having things break…then there is cause for alarm and by a large number of people, I mean 100+ …other wise … Keep your frame breakage to yourself or let us know you broke it but don’t post shit like … OMFG ..these frames break!…cuz ..like I said earlier, ALL FRAMES BREAK!
[/end rant]

December 4th, 2006 at 7:35 pm
its most likely jsut a default one and as the guy said all frames break. groundcontrols break and snap chris haffey must go through loads.
i agree aswlel that 4 wheels and anti is the way to go none of this freestyle stuff
December 4th, 2006 at 8:15 pm
REMZ SKATER
December 4th, 2006 at 8:30 pm
wow
no one has ever noticed that they always snap at the point of the triangle? the last time i checked the most stable open space is an arch not a triangle. maybe someday able will figure this out.
December 4th, 2006 at 8:44 pm
well ive had the frames for about 2months now and they are sick. im sure just some of them are messed up but they are really good frames
December 4th, 2006 at 9:17 pm
@Colemanation. Chris Haffey goes through loads of frames because he rides remedyz.
The boot flexes and causes the frames to break easier.
December 4th, 2006 at 9:19 pm
can u say able is falling off? if they keep breaking like toothpicks… no ones going to buy them anymore…
December 4th, 2006 at 9:34 pm
Weird thing is, my friend who is a salesmanager for Empire got a pair of freestyle prototypes (all black) a few months before the official release of the Gen3 frames and he’s still skating them without any severe damage (as in wearing down) or any other complaints. Even not after I borrowed them and did a 8 feet gap on them. Now I don’t know if this is because this is a prototype (even though I believe its no different from the released frames) or something else, but Able sure did their research and testing right. So saying that all Able freestyle frames break is definitely not true.
December 4th, 2006 at 9:44 pm
i got the grey series 3 frames the h block has a hole in the frame and i had em for liek 2 weeks i had my gg for like 3 months and no hole wtf they are amazing but they crack so easilly
December 4th, 2006 at 9:54 pm
what i would like to know is what skates were these two skaters skating? it makes a big difference. i know because i do go through frames quickly. i havent gotten a chance to ride the new able frames yet but i do know that they make quallity products, i rode the 2nd gen frame and that has been the only frame that hasnt broken for me. they were really worn away too. but anyways why are you all freaking out? these are only 2 people that this has happend to. but yeah… what skates were these 2 people riding?
December 4th, 2006 at 10:17 pm
fait gaffe koubis able va te coller un proces pour detruire sa maruqe de la sorte!
mais c bien de nous en informer!
December 5th, 2006 at 12:20 am
when will you kids learn. you dont need a frames length of grinding space. get some bullet 8’s they r strong as hell and have a nice groove.
December 5th, 2006 at 12:21 am
I would love to see a pair of bullet 8’s that snapped after 20 min
December 5th, 2006 at 12:22 am

all i have to say is that able frames suck the biggest ass of all time and i think we should really get are money back for buying shit frames like that. so able as a frame company its not going to work stick to clothes. cuz ur frames suck ass broke mine in like 1 week and i did like a toy as 9ft gap thats it all i did ur frames are weak and u should just stop making them.
December 5th, 2006 at 10:20 am
Two pics on the net => “Able frames break”… You’re just stupid. All frames break. Should I post the pics of all the GC I destroyed ? That means nothing, and I’m still skating them because they are just great. Stop complaining all the time, get yourself a new pair and keep rolling…
December 5th, 2006 at 2:41 pm
i realy think the m-type is the best, well my friend ordered new ables from aggressivemall that kinda sucks
December 5th, 2006 at 4:02 pm
i think that the disign is great but the frame is to hard
December 5th, 2006 at 4:03 pm
Able is shit,the worst frames.
I have an old kizer fluid frame,i used it3years long. And its better than the new ables:-)
December 5th, 2006 at 5:00 pm
well if they suck so bad then dont skate them. personaly i think the frames are the shit and i wont go back to anyother frame.
December 5th, 2006 at 8:21 pm
i love the framesi thik there the best the just need to make them stronger like the old ables
December 6th, 2006 at 3:27 am
they are still good frames cuz i no some 1 who broke fiziks the first day that frame was just a false and he should get new 1s
December 6th, 2006 at 4:25 am
they should just fix the problem. i personally thinkg these are some of the better looking frames out right now and id definatly skate them if they were stronger, btw to those who say “OMG SHOW ME A BROKEN GC!” i have a pair of snapped bullets from my old razor, right inbetween the 3rd and 4th wheel.
December 6th, 2006 at 6:41 am
yo guys. if you keep posting this stuff, it’s going to spread to other grommets that need to improve on better frames and they’ll post that thier frames broke too. soon we’ll all live off stock frames. don’t make this worse than it really is.
thanks for explaining colemanation.
dXL.
December 6th, 2006 at 8:24 am
ok you fucking idiots you have to ride the frame with those screws in the middle. despite the fact they may slow you up on grinds they do hold the frame together, ride any freestyle frame without those screw the same result will occur. able is just fine. they had a faulty batch but now thier fine, just fine.
December 6th, 2006 at 5:37 pm
haha at you n00bs saying ‘glad i ride on GC’- GC are absolute shite and snap like twigs
December 6th, 2006 at 6:35 pm
dude that sucks my freind broke those frams to. they brake eassier then mooks
December 7th, 2006 at 2:33 am
I should dispell some of the rumors on here so everyone knows what’s up. First off, if you are one of the few who broke the frames, contact your retailer and let them know immediately so they can send back the frames and you can be re imbursed if it falls under the warrenty. It seems that the few people who have broken them have done so to the freestyle frames. If you do not ride them with the center axles, the plastics will flex unnaturally to the design of them, this causing weak points. Also the breaks may be a manufacturer flaw created when the molds are heated up causing “slugs” which create weak points. These are usually test frames that should NOT be sent to us by the manufacturer but can once in awhile slip through the cracks and get to us and in turn, to you. Like all new designs you will come into some hitches but we’ve tested these thoroughly with many many types of riders of different size and style. I assure you the problems are fixed. You have to remember that products are’nt made to be indestructible but to withold to damage and wear. Skateboarders break decks and trucks once in awhile, it is a reality of their sport. We need to accept that too, after all, if we made something that never broke (really fucking cool, I know haha) it would sell once then there would be no use for the company afterwards. Ride the frames properly and if you have any problems with them, please let your retailer know so we can solve the issue. Thanks guys!

Freestyle frames break a lot faster than flat or anti because of weight distribution…..that is why 50/50 came out with the Core. To prevent that. Ur all a bunch of conformists…..just because a few able frames break, doesnt mean you shouldnt support them. They are a ROLLERBLADING company trying to supply us with the shit we need to rollerblade. GO FUCKIN SKATEBOARD if you dont like it. It seems all these stupid ass people are always out for whats popular. Rollerblading was popular in 95. Then I bet 25% of people that said they were rollerbladers went on to skateboarding because that got MORE popular. This month the popular thing to do is bomb on able frames. Fuck yaaaall.
December 7th, 2006 at 4:53 am
able tried something new with freestyle frames. they broke. mooks broke left and right the first time they came out, so did the cores. how come there’s no hate-wagon for shadow or 50/50? that’s what happens when new shit comes out. as more successive batches are released, the amount of defects decreases and the product improves. It happens with cars, it happens with software, it happens with skates(parts). first airplane stayed in the air for 28 seconds, so imagine where we’d be if people had that same mentality back then.
