Simply, i just say that using what kids dream of for making money isnt really good in general.
i dont remember in other sponsored contest like razors box edit that you must show you wear this brand.

obviously its a marketing gimic. but they are a company, they need to make money, since when is that a crime. Having this contest is the same idea as having a christmas time sale or whatever to bring in more customers so that your profit will oversee your investment. Its a clever idea on their part to stir the pot a little and get some friendly competition. Im all for it, some of you guys need to chill out.

Well, one would think that if a person who rolls M1 wheels, and enjoys them would want to get flow from them. Thats the point in participating in the contest. Why bring Eulogy into an event that has nothing to do with their wheels. I could bring up FR, but it is irrelevant. I was addressing what iicents had to say in the first place. This tit for tat is juvenile. Positive reinforcement is how things get done. If anyone has anything negative to say, please keep it to yourself. Negativity is an emotion driven by failure. For me and many others that is not an option. Hope for the future we all want for rollerblading, our culture and the community we all play a part in. If we all stay positive, we will succeed. Success will come in far greater things than flow sponsorship for a year from M1.

I’m not entirely sure who each person is addressing in their post but let me say this: I am not discouraging supporting M1 or purchasing their products, and I have been rollerblading for about ten years and have constantly supported our industry by buying skates, clothes, parts, videos, magazines, and other roller owned merchandise. My point is simply that Eulogy, despite being part of Powell, DOES care for us, IS run by rollerbladers, and DOES put money back into this industry. Read my posts carefully before stating that such choices do not allow rollerblading to grow.

The reason that rollerblading companies can’t reach the economic (economies of) scale you speak of is because of idiots like you who don’t support the core base. With your support the skater owned companies like M1 will be able to pour money into R&D and further urethane development. Of course Powell makes great inline wheels, but why not give these guys a chance to evolve the sport. Didn’t Blood wheels fold after two years….thas was a POWELL company. The end result is always the same, and sadly you can’t see the big picture. Given the chance, I believe that skater owned companies will push forward with design and image, breaking a sad cycle that started with Arlo selling out during the Senate era. Your stuck in a rut old man, and if you actually skated you would feel the fascism bred by companies like Skate One and spend your money somewhere else.

Why do you suggest that if Eulogy was not Powell owned it would have more money to spend on rollerblading? If it were not for their connection to Skate One, they would not be able to reach economies of scale (which very few rollerblading companies do), would have less money period, which in turn would mean fewer dollars to spend on promotion, research, and development. Besides, Eulogy is entirely skater run, Skate One does little more than supply the urethane. They are not a company which folded after two years in business; they have been in this industry for years, consistently offering quality products, sponsoring riders, producing videos, advertising in magazines, and recognizing amateurs from across the nation. And I am not even going to begin to attempt to address a statement as asinine as comparing Nazism with corporate partnerships.

I have to say, I am rather disappointed that one of the only intelligent, thoughtful posts on rollernews is being attacked by comments such as “lay off the stress weed” and “your a lil fuckin bitch.” If you lack the intellect to respond adequately to a perceptive response please do readers a favor and keep your comments to yourself.

And as to M1 not being owned by a skateboarder, does that change the fact that Eulogy consistently pours some of the most durable wheels on the market and M1′s originals where terrible? Besides, despite the fact that Eulogy is a branch of Powell, it is run and operated by a very dedicated rollerblader who consistently sponsors skaters and injects money into our industry. I personally would rather spend my dollars on a decent product, not a cheap gimmick which might land me a flow sponsorship for a year.
