I agree, the music sucks. Also, if you unlock a hat, shirt or pair of skates with bearings, why the FUK can’t you use/wear them? also, jon julio you worthless piece of sht, trying to rip people off, besides the fact we already paid 4 dollars for the app, you want people to pay extra 0.99 cents for each time such as clotches, frames too? also, how the FUk are these default skaters? why didn’t he use known skaters or pros, he uses some random fucks. And last, you can pretty much only use his products such as valo and other shit, advertisement is good, but this fuker tries to shove down his products down your throat all over this app game. Instead of letting people pick skates, brands, etc.

soooooooo gaaayyyyyy
October 2nd, 2012 at 5:59 am
Jon Julio: thanks for this game but can I play with whatever skates I want PLEASE. why are all the other brands logos there but i can only skate shitty valos?

oh thats right you already sucking that roces dick for 10+ years
valo them good 20 y.o. tech skater owned bro
October 2nd, 2012 at 7:17 am
Ok, I have some criticism for the game, such as using very unknown skaters as the default characters, requesting to pay an extra .99 cents for items to wear and extra tricks, and Jon Julio trying to shove his shitty brands like valo down people’s throat, instead of making it more about the sport itself but I have no complain about the game itself, the quality of the game and how it is played. For 4 dollars, you ain’t going to expect some fucken high quality PS/xbox kind of game. Like the idiot anonymous on top who called it shit. I was excited about this game when I saw it came out, I was obviously not expecting the quality of other EA sport app games or like the capcom app games. Though, this fuker jon julio made this game more to promote and advertise his fucken brands instead of rollerblading the sport.
October 2nd, 2012 at 7:52 am
I don’t know what’s worse, the skates or the game. Jon julio should stick to what he is, a legend on skates. Off skates no thank you.
October 2nd, 2012 at 8:42 am
Play the game. Unlock the stuff you want. It’s called replay value idiots. If you got what you wanted from the start you’d play it once and whine about that. Get used to the controls, play the game buy (collect the bearings) and purchase unlockables,to make your own character. Everyone has something to whine about. Stop godamn crying. It’s $4. And it supports something you believe in. Would you rather NOT have this game? Then
Again people would whine even more…. SHUT UP. Be happy.
October 2nd, 2012 at 8:45 am
Lol, Looks crap …!
October 2nd, 2012 at 8:52 am
Downloaded it and unfortunately it’s not to my expectations considering the timescale to make this. Was hoping for something as fluid as Rolling or Aggressive Inline, which is more than possible with games these days, and to be expected. The skater moves super bad and the tricks are nearly impossible to perform, not to mention they look terrible. I really don’t understand what the hold up was.
October 2nd, 2012 at 9:03 am
I paid 4 bucks for a game that has more bugs than a fuckin’ forrest….
What the fuck is up with you JJ? I mean honestly, i really wanted to support you because you came up with a rolling game. But it is like the people above have mentioned: You just want to get cheap advertisement with this game. The gameplay is crap, you want more and more money for non valo/themfuck products… Dude i thought you were cool
October 2nd, 2012 at 9:12 am
ok, i respect jon julio, but this game is a joke…. horrible.
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:36 am
The problem is it is not fun to play and a videogame must be fun on first place. Then you could include all advertising you want but if the only point of the game is to unlock tricks, clothing and skates why waist my time on it? So disappointed.
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:46 am
let us play everyone!! change that and work on the gameplay with updated or what so ever … then i might buy it! but from what ive heard … i will not buy it for sure!!
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:48 am
oh yeah .. and theres no problem with him wantig to make money! if you have a business you want to make money … right? But give us a propper product —> nobody will be complaining anymore!
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:50 am
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:52 am
I hate that for once, the barrage of Rollernews hate is actually going to be justified because this game sucks.
Even for a $3.99 app, this could and SHOULD be so much better. Especially with the delays and the hype.
It looks awful and plays horribly. The whole “skating on a track” feel of not being able to explore your environment is horrible. The fact that you have to restart your level after one fall is even worse. There are serious control issues (no royales, just farvs, no matter which way you’re facing) and why are there no soul grinds? There are topsoul variations, but I can’t just do a soul grind? Give me a break.
The thing is, I don’t think bladers, or the public in general would mind paying more for a polished product, because this just looks and feels rushed and unfinished even with all the delays. This could have been a great promotional tool, and it could have done wonders for blading if it only was fun to play.
I know industry heads are desperate to give blading back some spotlight but this should never be at the expense of quality control. Sorry, but this game is just embarrassing.
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:53 am
non mais sérieux… c’est une blague?
October 2nd, 2012 at 10:54 am
I can understand the product pushing and adverts for skate shops etc. It has to make money, and I doubt Julio coded it himself! Probably paid a huge whack to a couple of developers. Also $4 isnt much, you probably piss that up a wall in 5 minutes in a bar on a saturday night. So stop whinging about cost, if you wanted a top quality PS game go and spend $50+ on one! Plus hopefully some non-skater kids will download it out of curiosity and get them interested in blading.
October 2nd, 2012 at 11:02 am
i think its fun, i think it is what it is, yeah sucks that you fall and takes you to the start and sucks you cant play as your own character and stuff, but it was only 5 bucks or whatever, 3 pound 50 it really isnt anything, and things can only get better,
October 2nd, 2012 at 11:05 am
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT ! Absolutly unecessary and disrespectuf for blading himself, even free flashgames are better than this.
October 2nd, 2012 at 11:13 am
HAHAHA this game sucks so much!
This has to be a joke?
There are 100+ better games on my app stores ‘free to download’ list.
Thanks for sharing this video, this confirms I will not be giving any money to rollerblading or Julio again :)
October 2nd, 2012 at 11:28 am
old pro plays rolling on xbox – old pro has own brand now -old pro merges the two in his head – old pro thinks this a great idea – old pro doesn’t want to pay a proper games designer – old pro dies a horrible rollernews comment death.
October 2nd, 2012 at 11:56 am
yeah, i’m trying really hard to like the game, but its just … boring. looks like its not even made by rollerbladers
October 2nd, 2012 at 12:01 pm

Hey, it’s easy to spend $3.99 on just breakfast, but as it’s being pointed out, there are tons of free games that are better. Or that at least work.
A buggy, frustrating game is simply not going to get many kids interested in blading. That’s why it was so important to get it right. If anything, this all reeks of a cheap ploy to cash in on a niche market.
October 2nd, 2012 at 12:26 pm
Julio sucks… his state of mind sucks… his skate brand sucks… his game sucks…
so.. all about this guy sucks !
October 2nd, 2012 at 12:42 pm
Looks like crap .. games on my nintendo 8bit looked beter and are more fun !
October 2nd, 2012 at 12:57 pm
This game should never see a daylight. In terms of technical side, this is worse than games made for Iphone 1, like Hero of Sparta for example. Iphone 3GS at least seriously?! Iphone 3GS is capable of producing visuals better than PSP, Jesus Christ, it runs Infinity Blade and some others UE3 titles fluently!!! This should run on Iphone 1 and even Android G1 phone… even Nintendo DS would handle these visuals easily.
I know it isn’t AAA title for home console, but it is simply embarrassing and have VERY low production values. There are free games and mods done much more professionally by guys who don’t earn any money on them, who make them for free, and give their work away for free. This game had budget, and took money from sponsors… and charges $4 for purchase and one dollar for in-app transactions. Was it that hard to hire few people who actually would do a decent job at coding, designing gameplay, graphics and sounds? Was it hard to license proper engine, like Unity, which is dirt cheap and give stable environment to work with and can produce good visuals?
No excuses. Hardware this game demands could run Rolling easily.
Julio, you became a joke. Your app sucks, your carbon skates crack, your plastic skates crack (yeah, they do because you want to save on plastic eyelets), your skins rip, and everything you touch turn out to be substandard quality. Leave rollerblading while you are still looked up to as a legend of our sport, and before you will do more damage…
October 2nd, 2012 at 1:11 pm
I really really want to like this game. As soon as I woke up this morning and saw that it was out I went straight to the app store to download it. £2.49 for an app?? I thought, OK, it’s going to be good and I won’t remember paying so much for it.
Unfortunately it’s a pile of shit. Seriously, Rolling and Aggressive Inline were much much better games. This is like some kind of joke, the same kind of joke that rollerblading is on the whole.
Terrible graphics, terrible gameplay and terrible courses.
There are much better action sports games available on the iPhone. Get Pumped BMX, it shits all over this.
October 2nd, 2012 at 1:19 pm
Please don’t compare this game to Rolling or Aggressive Inline (Aggressive Inline is #64 on the top 100 ps2 games on IGN http://uk.ign.com/top/ps2-games/64 ).
1. The iphone/ipad/ipod is not a gaming device, controls are terrible, games are horrible (slash the watermelon!). If you want a gaming handheld, get a vita/psp 3ds/ds.
2. A good gameplay is really hard to achieve on a game. You can have decent graphics & decent 3d models but if your character moves are chunky, doesn’t respond to your inputs and that the challenge are not interesting, you’ll get bored in minutes.
October 2nd, 2012 at 1:30 pm
I really would spent that 4$ with pleasure but i will not beacause that game sucks soooo much.
Anyway you should show more respect for JJ, don’t forget what he has done for our industry.
October 2nd, 2012 at 1:33 pm
i think this game is fun, youre all weird haters.
October 2nd, 2012 at 1:34 pm
October 2nd, 2012 at 1:42 pm
I like it! Of course it was never going to be like rolling, its an app for an iphone!
Not sure if this is good or bad but its kind of hard to get used to the controls. Thing is if you spend a little time playing it gets really addictive and is actually pretty good.
October 2nd, 2012 at 2:03 pm
Ronnie James Dickinson you are some twat. Have you ever bought a game on the app store? Have you played any ‘Skate It’ or ‘Skater Nation’? Priced the same or less, they’re incredibly addictive, fun and have all the playability of a Playstation or XBox game. That, you idiot, is what we where expecting.
October 2nd, 2012 at 2:05 pm
“This game had budget, and took money from sponsors… and charges $4 for purchase and one dollar for in-app transactions. Was it that hard to hire few people who actually would do a decent job at coding, designing gameplay, graphics and sounds?”
Therein lies one of the problems with the blading industry as a whole. We don’t outsource shit. We have no money, so we often have to recur to other bladers who will work for cheap but not do the best job because we don’t have the dough to bring in working freelance professionals, or contractors to do shit for us. It’s the snake eating itself.
I am a graphic designer. Went to school for it and I work in my field doing corporate design. I keep up with the industry and I saw that recently DVS hired The Uprising Creative to do one of their catalogs for them. Uprising is legit. They’re a great studio that I’m sure charges a pretty penny for a branding campaign, and it makes me wish our companies had the kind of budget to do something like that. It would do wonders to showcase blading as a legit, viable industry rather than a hobby being run by aficionados.

I…agree with you? Is that not my point? Shit, I know there are free games that play better than this.
Rollernews – the one place where people will tell you to piss off for agreeing with them.

you guys can say what you want my game is amazing and im one of the world most known skaters and can make it in any industry including phone apps so suck my dick haters im holding this industry afloat myself… and another thing my valo brand is one of the best brands out there today

When Jon julio says “top 10, keep them coming”
is he talking about “dollars”?

The fact that you were expecting something is retarded. Do you even know how much it costs to make a console game? Got a couple million laying around that you’d like to contribute?
I’ll agree its not the best game i have ever played, but your $4 goes to helping support rollerblading, and its better thanspeding it at starbucks/bar. The progression is all right, but it gives you something to work towards to
Its doesn’t surprise me that rollernews is always a place to come hate, i get it though i was once an angry 12 yr old with nothing better to do

October 2nd, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Thanks for the feedback, we can see it is mostly negative but it will still be taken into account! We only had a $300 budget for the whole concept and game that we tried to develop so couldn’t afford the graphic’s system we would or preferred. The finished product does skip a bit we will agree, but the great thing with working on the Apple Store is that we can release updates to fix this which should be released around Christmas! For those who downloaded the game a huge thank you! After the current total of sales we have apparently been predicted #14 on top app store games!
October 2nd, 2012 at 3:05 pm
Say what you will about the game but the personal attacks on our legends are ridiculous. Valos have done so much for our sport, it’s a fact.

“I’ll agree its not the best game i have ever played, but your $4 goes to helping support rollerblading,”
I disagree. Just because the game is rollerblading-related, it’s not an excuse to lower expectations. To hype the shit out of something, make it sucky, and release it with the plan that people will buy it just because it’s blading-related is not a good precedent to set.
“Say what you will about the game but the personal attacks on our legends are ridiculous. Valos have done so much for our sport, it’s a fact.”
Totally agree – I ride Valos myself and really like them.

im not saying lower your expectations, but what control do we have on the quality of the game. Its not like we can go change whats made. The choice is support, not support, or get together and make a new game
October 2nd, 2012 at 3:28 pm
Negative and Positive..thanks for the feedback!
We plan on improving the game with updates. This is the great thing about APP games is that we can make improvements, add more tricks , pro characters, Companies, and levels.
Thanks to who has purchased the game.. We will be announcing more in the next week..
Keep checking in..

overpriced cheap skates. overpriced cheap app. what did u expect. valo all image no substance
October 2nd, 2012 at 5:26 pm
any dumb ass that pays this much for this game is an idiot. how is this supporting rollerblading when all of the proceeds will go straight to julios pockets? lol dumb ass rollerbladers
October 2nd, 2012 at 5:28 pm
I had high hopes for this game, and am happy to support anything blading-related. I didn’t expect graphics to be amazing or for the courses to be huge. However, its simply too hard to play. Took be 10 minutes to figure out how to skate without constantly falling. Another 10 minutes to learn to grind, and after an hour I still can’t perform tricks with any consistency.
Like I said, I don’t care about graphics etc, I was just hoping for a game I could pick up and play for 10 minutes at a time with ease. Unfortunetaly, Blading the Game is too difficult to play.
October 2nd, 2012 at 5:39 pm
hhaahahahahahahhaah youre all so fucking stupid………. what are you, 16 ? message board fags ? u should give positive feedback..not bash it the way u are. calling Julio a piece of shit ? really ? its version 1. it says there are minor bugs. he pushed for this to happen and it did…. there will probably be updates… there will be tweaking and making this game better. just be patient. i think its a huge step in the right direction… just to have a blading game is crazy. wheres the support ? im sure none of you kids have been around long enough to see how big this really is..
i personally am pumped and grateful for people like jj that are working hard to get blading on the level where it should be… there are small steps you need to climb before anything in the rollerblading industry gets to the point where skateboarding and snowboarding is. at least he is doing something for our sport. be grateful. without the dudes like jon, our industry would be no more. it would be going nowhere. these guys are the head honchos of our sport. ur all kids. mouthy dumbass ungrateful kids. grow up. show some support. be pumped that the step towards something bigger has even been climbed. show some respect. thank you jon for the game! obviously it could be better…but that will come. im just happy to see it in my app store! all you kids suck. get a fuckin job if u cant afford 3.99 to support something you love. or come suck my dick n ill give u 3.99 to buy the app. much love jon. thanks again.
October 2nd, 2012 at 6:00 pm
On additional note, it doesn’t take a PS3 quality graphics to make great game.
Anyone played VVVVV? Great indie platformer with some clever ideas and addictive gameplay. Graphics are on ZX Spectrum level, literally. It cost $4.99 for PC and $7.99 for Nintendo 3DS. But it’s damn worth it! Why? Because game is tons of fun, and you really feel that you bought game made by talented people with fresh ideas, and they earned their money.
I wish I could feel the same about Jon Julio’s Blading, The Game. But I can’t!!!
Gameplay is a copy of older GBA and DS Tony Hawk titles, where stages were straight and you made tricks along the way to the end. And these games were mediocre at best.
There is no art direction. It looks like this game uses free stock textures poorly placed on models. Skaters models and their animation is horrible. Stages look washed up, have no lighting, not even basic pre-compiled lightmaps that were present in Quake 1 seventeen years ago!!! Man, for real, these are basics of 3D game environments!!!
Controls are extremely unwelcome to say at best. Try do do the same trick two times in a row – it’s practically impossible.
So yeah, I don’t think anybody supports rollerblading by buying this game. Paying for half-assed efforts only because they are made by bladers, blader-owned etc. will get us nowhere. Because you can’t attract people from outside with unprofessional image, overhyped products with low real value and the fact something is blader-owned. Nobody gives a damn. Game should be fun to play and it isn’t. I think it will hurt blading more than it will help.

I can’t believe my $4 went to help Julio show off his iphone5 (wow you’re so cool) and other gadgets on that stupid “demo” edit like a little bitch.
Thank you Jon, you won’t get another one of my (hard earned) dollars ever again.
October 2nd, 2012 at 8:50 pm
I think if nothing else, it’s good to have a skating game. I see it as a bit of a laugh and an app to kill a bit of time. HOWEVER, this thing takes so long to load – i get bored and close it. So it doesn’t fulfil the quick and dirty gaming app.
Jon, if you’re reading this… please can you try using the accelerometer to control the skater. I feel with two hands to do the tricks it would feel more fluid. And balancing etc would feel natural – you’re wasting 50% of the screen controlling the skater, when really going forward / sideways etc is the easiest bit of skating.
To be fair, if they only spent $300 on this – it’s not a bad effort! Although for that money they should have streamlined it to be a $300 app and concentrated on gameplay not details like changing caps and wheels, and all that stuff that you can’t actually see!!!
But all in all, it’s a good effort – I hope it gets updated, and not left to the dogs. So we should try and help and give constructive feedback for Jon.
October 2nd, 2012 at 8:56 pm
stupid rollernews fags.
Give feedback but not hate, first of all respect. No one here has made a fucking iphone blading app and has the balls to put it out there and have all this responsability. Support julio.
He fucking owns valo and the skates are sick, he just organized a TELEVISED event and he has time of blading and make sections that make yours look like shit. So come on, if the game has bugs, or whatever, he will fucking solve it.
This game im sure it will be updated and it will have more good stuff.
JUST HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR SOMEONE WHO’S GIVIN AND DEDICATING HIS LIFE TO MAKE BLADING LOOK COOL.
Now you better be back on your stupid jobs or cryin to your mama little rollernews fags.
October 2nd, 2012 at 9:52 pm
why are people making excuses for this? just because julio is behind it?
if his name wasnt on it this would be 100% hate instead of the 99% .a few friends of mine have been around since the hoax 2 days and wanted nothing but to love this game but its just not fun. this makes blading look bad.
and why on earth would you put no name people as the characters?
also what is the objective of the game to play dress up or have fun blading?
October 2nd, 2012 at 9:56 pm
^^^
the objective of the game IS to play dress up actually. I mean look at the valo team/company…

After playing tony hawks pro skater 2 on iphone for £1.69 and that being amazing, then expecting this to be just as good after paying a whooping £2.49 i can’t say i wasn’t a bit disapointed…
bring out rolling for iphone, including the same configuration as THPS2 and everything will be good.
And the fact you’ve got to pay to unlock skaters and clothing is ridicolous, i’ve bought games for free and got more back from those than i do with this.
I really don’t see how this is going to appeal to app buyers who dont skate, the marketing genuis that is Jon Julio has slightly let me down, this could of been amazing and even could of appealed to an outside market
ah well, next time ayee…
October 2nd, 2012 at 11:42 pm
lol’ing at these comments !
Games take millions of dollars to develop now a days… I’m sure JJ did this on a shoe string, it’s not like he is rolling in cheese or anything.
better than nothing i guess

Thanks for the love, wouldn’t expect more from Roller news.
Pretty pumped Julio used my name and not just my skin tone,
sick love from the homie. Super juiced on the game, it’s actually come a long way from the demo stages. And as far as a no name skater, Im no famous dude but I’ve got my clips over the past decade and have put in some work .
Thanks again Jon and Fuentes, I thought I was just gonna be a token black dude for the skin tone.
Now if I could only beat PRidder’s score!!!

//it would be nice to not have to start over every time you bump into a wall.
making the max points in 1 minutes would be nicer, a bump would equal a loss of speed. indeed restarting after each error is too violent.
/YOU GUYS SHOULD PLAY DEAD SPACE IPOD GAME TO KNOW THE QUALITY OF PLAYING GAME ON IPHONES/IPAD/IPOD
this is not about “quality” the iphone/ipad/ipod is a really powerful piece of hardware,
the problem is that playing without a pad is terrible, you cant feel the controls on an iphone screen, you loose a lot of accuracy and this quickly become frustrating

//Games take millions of dollars to develop now a days…
not really, you’re talking about 3d games, with a huge franchise, photo realistic and with a huge openworld multiplayer, etc.
like cited above, there are tons of amazing indie games that were developped with a really small budget.
take minecraft, their starting budget was ridiculously low.

You do all realise that depending on the response and reviews you give influence how this game will develop in the future, you all should accept it for what it is, to be fair it’s a mini game not rolling don’t you see the difference. If you all support who knows where it will lead, maybe even a console release like on the xbox arcade marketplace, but there is no chance of that ever happening if you don’t support. I bought every addon for this game not only to expand it but in hopes that this game goes to it greatest potential. Jon julio has done really well making this which was possibly a big risk factor with his investment, what other companies are pushing for outside coverage of our sport none. They see it as too much risk but Jon julio knows the potential and is willing to nurture the product but we all have to support regardless if you like it because your visions of what this game should have been will never become true!
October 3rd, 2012 at 7:08 am
^^ there’s no chance of that happening cause the game sucks. if we all accepted it for what it is we would still be rolling on m12′s
ohhhh….thats right

Skitchin, which came out in ’94, looks more fun than this. Hell, the animations are smoother.
I don’t care if there was only one character with generic skates, at least refine the core gameplay first.
If this was on Android I’d pay the 4.99 but ONLY because I want to see rollerblading grow, exposed. Fix your product!

The game is near perfect. Just change the title to “Duke Nukem Goes Rollerblading”
October 3rd, 2012 at 1:58 pm
bought it.. played it..
the graphics is pretty shit, but u can live with it
I liked the idea of how the tricks are performed, the controls were thought trough, but all the glitches make the jumps and tricks look so stupid..
but worst of all it’s the design that freaked me out. It’s like playing one of those 90′s games with squared text and graphics.. couldn’t u make it slightly smoother? at least a nice looking menu or something..
On the whole it’s cool people tried to put together something like that for our community. Might play it sometime again

the Blading Cup sounds like it’s going to be a joke too. Public Voting? So with Julio and Ivan looking on, you have to announce to the whole crowd who you think should win? Doesn’t anyone see the potential for initmidation/peer pressure? I think it will be one big popularity contest or worse, “who can score the most points with JJ so they can be a default character in the next Blading the Game?”
STYLE- Competitors that lack style or confidence on difficult or creative tricks should be PENALIZED accordingly.
so if you don’t like someone, there’s no way you think they are confident or stylish at all —> PENALIZE ACCORDINGLY, EVEN IF THEY DID A DIFFICULT OR CREATIVE TRICK
CREATIVITY- Competitors that perform the same trick on an obstacle that is discovered by another competitor should be SEVERELY PENALIZED.
so dude who is in the first heat soul grinds something, every soul grind on that obstacle thereafter should be penalized?!?! SEVERELY?? is topacid still ok LOLZ
TL;DR The Blading Cup will be nothing more than a popularity contest and I already don’t trust the results after reading their “judging criteria.”

bring out rolling or aggressive inline for iphone, including the same configuration as THPS2 and everything will be good
October 3rd, 2012 at 6:18 pm
what a waste of time , i rather play aggressive inline
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:57 pm
think about how hard you would have to suck valo nuts to be a character in their game and be some random dude. overpriced crap just like the skates
October 4th, 2012 at 4:58 am
fuck all that, this game is addictive!
October 4th, 2012 at 11:15 pm
Whoo. This is really exciting! I just can’t wait for the 23942876 apps that the rollernews community is apparently going to make.
Then when there STILL isn’t a single good one, I can call every rollerblader on the internet a worthless piece of shit. And that time, it’s going to be true.
October 5th, 2012 at 8:53 am

October 5th, 2012 at 11:52 am
