why does everyone who ride xsjados feel obligated to do negative grinds

seriously I've watched like 4 or 5 edits today and everyone riding xsjados does at least 1 negative variation haha

i have a pair of xsjados that i use at work, so i decided to try this out. it didn't take long at all, i'd say an hour and a half tops.

it doesn't look ugly either. after i did all the work, i glued part of a black sock over the work done, and lined it up along the black seem on the padding. by doing this, my farmer's look as though they came with the v-cut, and not like they were worked on.

they ride awesome, and i really like the new feel. it's completely different having a lower back to your xsjados, but it's a good change. i'm not surprised at all that rowe and wilson both prefer the v-cut.

it's all personal preference though.

A V-cut (or a easily-rearward-pivoting "full" cuff) allows you to point your toes when you jump, which lets you use your calf muscles as well as your thigh muscles when you jump. Think about it, you use your whole leg when you jump without skates on, why should your skates limit this?

JC loved the way Xsjados skated, which is why he switched to them, but he missed the ability to point your toes that the v-cut in Remz gives you, so he just modified his Xsjados to be the perfect skate for him... not that hard to understand really.

This mod takes less than an hour to do both skates, it's not like it's super intensive, those of you complaining about it seeming like so much work must barely make it through putting new wheels in your skates.

Those of you who are familiar with Xsjados know the parts of the cuff that support you side-to-side are independent of the rear part of the cuff (because of the "bamboo cuts"/"petals")... thus the v-cut doesn't affect the side-to-side support unless you make it way crazy super deep.

Oh and rearding the video:

Negatives amaze me, I find them really hard. Seeing them incorporated into switch-ups is awesome. We're also starting to see full cab negatives and true top negatives. I can't get over what Chris Farmer (and others of course) are able to do, always pushing rolling. Used to be that negatives were seen as a novelty trick.

Now it looks like they might, some day, be almost as popular as topsides.

cing, you asked about V-cut and performance.

I had Remz 03's for a loooong time.

V-cut, for me, ddn't change much about my grinding, but DID very much improve my ability to jump onto/over tall things.

Also made those smaller jumps, like the ones we make onto a knee-high ledge, slightly more effortless.

Of course, you have to take into consideration that the Freedom-of-feet thing helped too, but I've tried on other Remz models with Jug liners that aren't freedom-of-feet and still thought that the V-cut made a difference.

I also just hate the feeling of a boot pusing into my achilles tendon when doing any trick, so I found V-cut more comfortable too.

I don't know what V-cut on Xsjado's would perform like, I personally don't like Xsjados because I find them "too" responsive on tricks. For example, during a makio, I began to turn my shoulder as I would normally to come out of the grind fakie, but the turning effect seemed to travel down my body and turn my makio into a backslide. Backslides are a trick that I can't do, never mind balance, so I went on my bum.

This makes me the wrong person to ask, but JC obviously thinks it makes a difference. If you know anybody who decides to V-cut their Xsjado's, you could always try them on. Or just buy a second cuff and have one V-cut cuff and one regular, then compare.
